In Niger: Armed robbers kill policeman, guard, rob First Bank, UBA

The Nigerian Police Force recently killed five armed robber suspects

The bandits, who besieged the community, were in their multitudes as they created fear and tension by blocking entry into the community with vehicles and continuous gunshots.

Scores of gunmen suspected to be robbers have killed a policeman and a security guard while robbing the Lapai branch of First Bank of Nigeria and United Bank for Africa in Niger State.

According to a report by Punch, the invasion by the gunmen has left palpable fear in Lapai since Wednesday, November 29, 2017.

It was also reported that the bandits, who besieged the community, were in their multitudes as they created fear and tension by blocking entry into the community with vehicles and continuous gunshots.

The report also revealed that while some members of the gang mounted roadblocks to checkmate possible intervention by security operatives, some took to the bank to rob while others marched to the community's police division, where they also wrecked havoc.

A resident account of the incident showed that the robbers packed stolen cash from the banks in two cars belonging to bank workers and zoomed off to where their vehicles were parked after which they dumped one of the cars and fled with another as well as their vehicles.

The resident also stressed that when some 'brave youths' of the community tried attacking the armed robbers by hauling stones at them, they were repelled with gunshots leaving one dead and several others severely injured with gunshot wounds.

Several robbery cases have been reported in 2017 with the Nigerian police also arresting a handful of the accussed.

The incident, which was confirmed by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7, Abuja, Salisu Fagge, has been described as unfortunate.

Fagge said he was sent by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to sympathise with the affected banks and assess the level of damage done by the hoodlums.

He said, “The Lapai Police Division needed to be strengthened to avert a recurrence of the ugly incident.”

In the same vein, the Niger State Commissioner of Police, Austin Agbonlahor, said no arrest had been made.

Agbonlahor said detectives had commenced investigations into the robbery, adding that they had recovered a Toyota Corolla with number plate, KRD 561 AJ, Lagos.

In Lagos: Adopting cycling for a healthy lifestyle

It has been proven that cycling can help to protect from serious diseases such as stroke, heart attack, some cancers, depression, diabetes, obesity and arthritis.

In 1996, Nigeria had an impressive outing at the Olympics with medals in Women's Long Jump, Football, badminton, football and other track field events.

With an impressive medal count, Nigeria lived up to its billing as the ‘giant of Africa’ at the Atlanta games. Twenty years down the line, medals from sporting events have dropped drastically and people are not actively involved in sporting activities as public sporting facilities have also decayed over the years.

Currently, sedentary lifestyle is becoming more expensive as there are many illnesses associated with it. People are now conscious of living a healthy life by engaging in various sports such as lawn tennis, football, badminton and most recently, cycling has become an alternative. Cycling entails the use of virtually all the parts of the body and also the mind. On the average, a cyclist will burn approximately 650 calories per hour.

According to research by Betterhealth in 2016, it has been proven that cycling can help to protect from serious diseases such as stroke, heart attack, some cancers, depression, diabetes, obesity and arthritis. Other health benefits of regular cycling include increased cardiovascular fitness, increased muscle strength and flexibility, improved joint mobility and decreased stress levels, improved posture and coordination, strengthened bones, decreased body fat levels and reduced anxiety and depression.

It is interesting to note that, youths in Lagos and some other cities in Nigeria have started adopting cycling as an alternative sport. More youths and teens are taking up cycling for leisure and the rise of competitions such as the Lagos City Criterium, organized by the Sustainable Cycling Foundation (http://ift.tt/2nm0ghZ) has improved the profile of cycling in Nigeria.

The Lagos City Criterium is an exhibition of top level exposure with a desire to establish a professional cycling event in Nigeria, which would support Nigerian professional cyclists and build a community of cyclists that are agile and young at heart. The 2017 Criterium brought together about 200 cyclists across Nigeria, in an atmosphere of friendship, teamwork and healthy competition and after hours of competitive cycling, winners emerged in various categories; with cyclists going home with medals and prize money.

The movement, which is championed by the Sustainable Cycling Foundation is supported by Cocoon Homes Limited, an innovative real estate property developer currently developing the Cocoon Atlantic project in Lagos State. The organization advocates for cyclists to continue their drive from leisure to professionalism.

For the 2017 Criterium, Cocoon Homes supported the foundation in the planning and execution of the event, as well as the sponsorship of local teams through the provision of cycling kits.

Recreational cycling is a sport that encourages people most especially kids to cultivate a healthy lifestyle and competitions and cycling challenges, such as the Lagos Criterium, help to encourage young and prospective athletes who might otherwise not have the opportunity to develop their competitive skills.

There are several opportunities for Nigerian sports and athletes looking to build careers in alternative sports such as cycling, biking and hiking and if the right infrastructure is put in place then the cycling market will only grow stronger, more profitable, and more stable. That means more money for the country, more professional athletes for a longer period of time and maybe the status of Nigeria being the giant of Africa in terms of sports might just be true once again.

I'm Not A Racist: This brutally honest rap video is the best thing you will watch this year

The actor who plays the role of the middle America white man. The slogan Make America Great Again was a slogan of Donald Trump during his election campaign

This music video brutally takes on racism in America like no rap video before.

A rap video from rapper Joyner Lucas has the whole world talking.

Since its release on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, it has racked up 2.5 million views on YouTube. These are not bad numbers for an underground rapper.

Titled 'I'm Not A Racist', the video is no-hold-barred, honest and blunt take on racial stereotypes in America.

In the first verse, Joyner Lucas takes on the role of a white man in middle America who brazenly speaks to an African-American about the laziness of his race.

"With all due respect

I don't have pity for you black niggas, that's the way I feel

Screamin' "Black Lives Matter"

All the black guys rather be deadbeats than pay your bills

Yellin' "Nigga this" and "Nigga that"

Call everybody "Nigga" and get a nigga mad

As soon as I say "Nigga" then everyone react" raps Lucas in the first verse.

It is a charged-up and brutal portrayal of the mind of racist who believes in black stereotypes.

ALSO READ: Why does the world hate black people?

In the second verse, Joyner Lucas portrays a black man who challenges the white man about the way he perceives his race.

"You don't know what it's like to mind your business

And get stopped by the cops and not know if you 'bout to die or not

You worry 'bout your life, so you take mine

I love you but I fuckin' hate you at the same time

I wish we could trade shoes or we could change lives

So we could understand each other more but that'd take time" spits the rapper in the second verse.

While this is a jarring commentary on racism and stereotype in America, the aim of the song is to bring people from both races to have an honest discussion and find a middle ground.

At the end of the music video, the white man and African-American talk cordially to each other. They also hug it out.

The viral rap video has been mentioned by CNN describes the video as a "brutal race conversation nobody wants to have."

Where You Belong: Banker who tortured wife to death remanded in prison

Olaoluwa Adejo has been arrested for allegedly torturing his own wife, Maureen, to death

A Lagos-based banker who allegedly tortured his wife to death has been remanded in the Ikoyi Prison where he will spend the Yuletide season.

A Lagos-based banker, Olaoluwa Adejo, who allegedly tortured his wife, Maureen, to death will spend the Yuletide season in prison as an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court ordered that he should be remanded in the Ikoyi Prison till February 28, 2018.

Punch reports that the order was handed down by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Adelaja, who also ordered the police to duplicate the case file and forward to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The 32-year-old Adejo was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly torturing his wife to death at their residence in the Oworonshoki area of the state.

It was gathered that Adejo reportedly tortured his 28-year-old wife with a belt, machete and then forcing her to drink a local insecticide known as 'Otapiapa' which led to her death.

The couple was said to have been married for five years and had three children together before the devil set in to destroy their home.

It was learned that Adeejo had, on many occasions, threatened to kill the Imo State-born Maureen whenever they had disagreements and on one of such occasions, she had packed her belongings to her mother's house in the same area only to return to her death three days later.

Adejo was arraigned on a one-count charge of murder on Wednesday, November 29 and the charge sheet read:

“That you, Olaoluwa Adejo, on November 12, 2017, at about 6.30 pm, on Peluola Street, Oworonshoki, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did kill one Maureen Adejo, aged 28 years, by beating her to death with fist blows and a belt, and also poisoning her food with a Nopex Sniper insecticide, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 222 and punishable under Section 223 Cap. C17, Vol. 3 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

The police prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Uwadione, then filed an application for his remand in prison as his plea was not taken.

Daddy Freeze: 'Use your private jets to evacuate Nigerians in Libya'- OAP fires at Pastors

Popular pastor gives Daddy Freeze 24 months to live!

This controversial On Air Personality has called on men of God who own private jets to use them to evacuate Nigerians trapped in Libyan slave camps.

Controversial Cool FM presenter, Ifedayo Olarinde, the one we popularly call Daddy Freeze, has tasked men of God in Nigeria, especially those who own private jets to put their planes into good use by using them to help evacuate Nigerian immigrants trapped in Libyan slave camps.

Daddy Freeze who has been on the warpath with Pastors for collecting tithes and offerings from their members, condemned men of God for maintaining sealed lips on the matter while celebrities are the ones speaking out on the inhumane act being perpetrated on Nigerians in their desperation to flee the country for greener pastures in Europe.

Most of these people who try to reach Europe through the deserts and the Miditarenean Sea end up being sold as slaves with some of them dying in the process, and this, according to Daddy Freeze, is what the Pastors should preach about instead of always concentrating on paying of tithes which they use to enrich themselves.

In a tweet video he made on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, Daddy Freeze urged the Pastors who own private jets to use such to evacuate the stranded Nigerians.

Captioning his tweet 'Libya Slave Trade: Celebrities Are Coming Out To Speak, Where Are Our Pastors?', Daddy Freeze said:

"A minor attack on tithing and almost every pastor comes out to defend it. A major attack on humanity and up until now, I’m waiting for the first pastor to stand in condemnation, or put their resources together and make that difference.

Could the demeanor of these pastors be attributed to the fact that the refugees don’t have tithe cards?

One GO, they say owns four private jets. Imagine how many of our brothers that could help bring home. If they could use church jets to buy ammunition, why can’t they use them to bring home our brothers?

Or are they implying that the lives of our brothers are worth much less than the guns that will kill them?

Celebrities are coming out to speak and stand up for our brothers. WHERE ARE OUR PASTORS? Are they too busy advertising their next concert, or are they so preoccupied with filling their event centers this Sunday, that they can’t take a few minutes off practicing the speeches that will ginger 10 people to bring out N1 Billion each, to remember the plight of the very brothers Jesus admonished us to keep?

ALSO READ: "Daddy Freeze: OAP takes fight straight to Pastor Adeboye [Video]"

I thank the federal government for rising to the occasion and bringing home our brothers, some returned tonight, as reported by captain @usoroessien.

It’s a damn shame to us all if the government proves more caring and compassionate than the so-called ‘house of God’.

Let's remember, true Christianity is about love, NOT MONEY!'"

This is not the first time Daddy Freeze has called out men of God in the country especially those he believes are fleecing their members while they and their families live affluent lifestyles. He has, on different occasions, attacked the likes of Pastors David Oyedepo, Enoch Adeboye, Paul Adefarasin, Chris Oyakilhome and Apostle Johnson Suleman.

There have been many first lady dictators but here are some of the memorable five;

1) Gucci Grace

Grace Mugabe is the wife of former Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe. She was formerly his personal secretary but an affair saw her become the first lady after Robert Mugabe's wife died.

Grace Mugabe is called Gucci Grace because of her extravagant and lavish lifestyle. In a country with serious economic problems, Grace Mugabe was known for spending large sums of money.  In 2012, it was claimed that she spent £120,000 in many expensive stories in Europe.

When she was confronted with spending so much, she denied it. "The only thing I’ve bought in Harrods is almond nuts because I eat lots of almond nuts. I want to eat healthily… I go out and they say she’s bought clothes with a million pounds" she said in an interview in 2013. She also has a palace.

2) Asma al-Assad

Heartbreaking: Another Libyan returnee narrates horror tale

This Libyan returnee looks really emaciated

Nigerians who were sold as slaves in Libya have continued to narrate their tales of woes after they were brought back to the country.

A few days after a disturbing documentary went viral on how Libyan officials sell Nigerian migrants as slaves, another returnee, Alex Otoide, has opened up on how Nigerian girls were sold off as sex slaves in the North African nation.

Otoide who was one of the recent batches to return to the country narrated how he saw how 20 Nigerian girls were sold off as slaves in Libya at the same time.

The Nation reports that Otoide who expressed his happiness on being back to his country gave a chilling account of how he and others were fleeced and transported to Libya with a promise of better life in Europe, only to end up in jail and untold hardship in the north African country.

Many of the returnees, who are camped in Benin City, the Edo State capital, look skinny and exhausted with some of the women are carrying babies, whose fathers are not known.

ALSO READ: "Heartbreaking: How Nigerian immigrants are sold as slaves for $400 in Libya [Video]"

Otoide said he witnessed the sale of 20 Nigeria girls in the prison where they were all kept.

“They sold about 20 girls in the night. I saw it. It was God that saved me. I left Nigeria with N500, 000. I spent six months in Libya jail after the man that took my money ran away.

We were 55 that traveled from here to Libya; 25 people died in the desert. More than seven people died from hunger and thirst inside the prison. Can’t you see how I look lean and hungry? I need to go for treatment.”

Swearing that he must hunt down the trafficker who collected his money, Otoide said the fellow named Charles had duped so many unsuspecting victims of various amounts of money all in the name of getting them to Europe.

He added that apart from persuading them to travel, Charles also collected money in addition to running a transit camp in Libya for those traveling illegally across the Mediterranean to Europe.

Some of the deportees corroborated Otoide's assertion, adding that the said Charles collected money for the purpose of taking them to Europe only to abandon them in Libya.

They claimed that Charles had several bank accounts with different names through which he collected money from victims. He is also accused of running the Libyan camp where Nigerians are kept for days without food.

Another returnee, Osas Blessing, said Charles is among those nicknamed 'Burgers' or 'Connection Man' on the Libya route.

Blessing said:

“I gave Charles N450, 000 but when I got to Libya, he increased it to N600, 000. He is very wicked. He does not care for human life. He is a Benin man. He will say if you die, you die. He pushed us into the sea at the wrong time.

I heard he just left Nigeria with new passengers to Libya. He has frustrated many Nigerians.”

Pulse List: 5 popular crimes of passion

Lowo Oyediran and Yewande when the going was good

Throughout history there have been many people who kill or assault their lovers.

A crime of passion can easily be defined as a crime committed in the throes of passion.

It is instant, spontaneous and usually occurs when a person attacks (in most cases kills) his/her lover or rival.

Crimes of passion that lead to death are manslaughters and not murders because they are not premeditated.

The most recent crime of passion in Nigeria is the death of Bilyaminu Bello at the hands of his wife Maryam Sanda. Bello was allegedly stabbed to death in his sleep by his wife.

Crimes of passion are common as they happen all the time. Here are 5 famous cases;

1) Jodi Arias

In 2008, Jodi Arias brutally murdered her former boyfriend Travis Alexander. Arias and Alexander had dated for two months before they split although they maintained a sexual relationship. Travis Alexander would later die from a gunshot to his head. His body was found four days after the incident. His body had more than 12 stab wounds. His throat was sliced. Remote Control: Police arrest lovers for strangling 8-months-old son to death

The Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Titus Lamorde

The police in Ebonyi State have arrested two lovers for conniving and strangling their eight-months-old son to death.

The Ebonyi State Police Command has two lovers, Ajibore Ahmed, 36, and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Chidimma Igwe, for allegedly strangling their eight-month-old son to death.

Guardian reports that the couple had secretly killed the child they had together and buried him in a shallow grave but their secret was revealed when members of her family reported the matter to the police.

The State Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], ASP Loveth Odah who confirmed the arrest of the lovers, said the incident occurred at No. 4, Obubra Street, Abakaliki, and that the lovers would soon be charged to court for killing their baby.

It was gathered that Ahmed, an indigene of Osun State is a tricycle mechanic in Abakaliki and had gotten the teenager pregnant while she was preparing to sit for her WAEC examinations.

According to reports, Ahmed had allegedly abducted Igwe and impregnated her. This made her aunt and her husband who adopted her after her father’s death, to worry about her whereabouts.

"Ahmed reportedly took Igwe to Onitsha where he reportedly negotiated with a baby factory operator who agreed to keep her in the factory," the police spokesman began.

"The operator agreed to buy the baby at N400,000. Meanwhile, her guardians were still searching for her.

Chidimma, after some months, escaped from the factory and came back to Abakaliki and reunited with her aunt. Ahmed met Chidimma in the night and ordered her to kill their son who was named Emmanuel.

Ahmed gave Chidimma N3,000 and a tiny wire to strangle the eight-month-old boy to death. He allegedly told her that 'Yorubas don’t allow their blood to stay outside'."

Igwe’s aunt, Mrs. Lovelyn Nwode, who also spoke on the incident, said she used the wire to kill baby Emmanuel.

Mrs. Nwode said when she came back from her shop, Igwe told her that Ahmed who impregnated her, met her in the kitchen while she was washing plates.

"She said Ahmed asked her to open her hand and immediately she did, he dropped a piece of wire and N3,000 and told her that 'Yorubas don’t allow their blood to stay outside.'

She said immediately she collected the wire and money, she lost her senses and started behaving strangely.

She became violent and so restless and started destroying my husband’s property including their television set.

In the morning, I went to the market. While coming back, I heard that she had already killed the baby.

When I entered my house, I saw people inside. They were crying. I am very angry over the incident because, in my life, I have never seen such a thing,” Mrs. Nwode said.

Igwe's uncle, Stephen Idejimba, has called for justice on the matter, describing it as a tragedy that befell the family.

“I am totally sad about what happened. It is a big tragedy. I was in Lagos when I got the news and I couldn’t control my emotion.

I decided to rush home over the matter. I will like justice to take its course on this matter,” he said.

ASP Odah added that Ahmed and Igwe are already in custody while investigations have begun in earnest while an autopsy has been carried out on the dead baby.

In Ghana: The 2016 story of a fake US embassy is not true

The pink house which was said to be a fake US embassy

The viral story of a fake US Embassy in Accra, Ghana was nothing more than someone's colourful imagination.

In December 2016, Pulse published a story about a fake US embassy in Accra, Ghana.

The story was first published by Ghana Business News. The story was a viral hit later picked up by international news outlets like Reuters, The Sun, Fox News, and Chinese news agency Xinhua.

The most astonishing thing about this story is that it is FAKE or as Donald Trump would call it “fake news.” Yes, the fake US embassy in Accra never existed.

Yepoka Yeebo was interested in the story back in December 2016 when he read it. His investigations, however, made him realize that the story was a huge hoax.

Yeebo has written a long-read article about in The Guardian. A day after the story of the fake embassy, the head of Ghana’s visa and document fraud unit Seth Sewornu got a text from his boss who wanted to know about his raid on the fake embassy. The only problem was that he didn’t know about any bust. He asked his men and they too knew nothing about it.

ALSO READ: Marriage scams, Nigerian men who marry white women

In the story of the fake US embassy, the Ghana Detectives Bureau was said to have made the raid, the only problem was that the GDB does not exist. Ghanaian authorities were baffled.

At the heart of the viral story was a pink house which was said to be the fake US embassy. Yeebo’s investigation reveals that the photo of that house was taken by Detective Lloyd Baidoo.

In mid-2016 he had gotten a tip that there was a US visa smuggling ring that was issuing fake visas to people from a pink house in Accra.

Baidoo and another detective went to the location, took pictures and did a surveillance of the place. At the end of the day, the pink building didn’t strike Baidoo as a place that issued fake visas.

One of the owners of the building’s owners is Susana Lamptey. She maintains that the building was never a spot where people could buy fake visas. Since the story broke out she has been hounded by international journalists.

The rabbit hole goes deeper. In December 2016, the US state department put out the story of a fake US embassy in Accra. In the department’s story, the photo of the pink building taken by Baidoo was used as well as the photo of passports taken by the detective during a different raid of a location which turned out to be a hideout of a visa ring.

According to Seth Sewornu, he claims a source at the real US embassy said someone at the US State Department had merged Baidoo’s investigation of the pink house and his raid of a location where fake visas were sold.

At the end of the day, one of the biggest stories of 2016 was the sloppy work of an American.

Pulse Nigeria Poll: Readers say Valerie should allow her father marry her friend

This pretty lady is desperate for marriage

74% of Pulse Nigeria Poll voters say Valerie should allow her father to marry Ruth if that would make him happy.

Valerie is an only child and lost her mother when she was only 12 years old. Since then, her father had refused to get married despite pressure from friends and family.

But now he is ready to settle down again and the person she has in mind is Valerie's best friend and close confidant, Ruth.

And despite her protests, her father is insisting on getting married to Ruth and Valerie's problem is how to adjust to living with Ruth as her stepmother.

Read her story here:

"My name is Valerie, a 26-year-old  lady working in one of my father's company in Lagos. I am an only child and dad who is in his late 50s, had refused to marry after my mother died when I was 12.

But now, against all odds, he is bent on getting married to my childhood friend, Ruth. I am not against his getting married but the idea of Ruth suddenly being elevated from being my best friend to my stepmother is something I can't stand.

Despite pressure from family members and his friends for dad to get married after mum died, he had insisted on remaining single, saying that he did not want any woman to come in and maltreat his only child.

Even when I was of age and kept begging him to get married so that I would have a mother, he had remained adamant but now, he wants to marry Ruth, a girl who is a year younger than me and wants me to understand he is so much in love with her.

I never knew when they started dating till dad informed me that he had made up his mind to get married as he can no longer live alone, coupled with the fact that I would be getting married soon and leave him all alone.

I was very happy for him and kept urging him to bring the lucky woman so that we could create a bond but he kept telling me the time was not right.

Then out of the blues, dad told me that he had a special visitor who would be coming that weekend and made the house helps to turn over the house, clean everywhere and make special meals for his special visitor.

I was also looking forward to the mystery woman who had stolen my dad's heart and knew that whoever she was, dad must be seriously in love with her for him to put so much effort while expecting her.

He was like a teenager in love for the first time. At 2 pm, he sent his driver to go and bring the lady but before then, he had pleaded with me to be on my good behaviour and whoever the woman turned out to be, I should just accept her.

You can then imagine my shock when the mystery lady turned out to be Ruth, my best friend, and my closest confidant.

When Ruth came in, I initially thought dad had also invited her to see the woman he wanted to marry because she was more like a family member but when dad introduced her as the woman he was telling me about, I almost had a fit.

I stood there and looked as he kissed her, told her how much he loved her and how he could not wait for them to get married.

I Just Got Back: The IJGB season has officially started

I Just Got Back Kids turning up to J Hus at Nativeland in December 2016

The kids from abroad are back and the Christmas Holiday is about to be turnt.

December is here and this means one thing, it’s the season of I Just Got Back Kids.

Popularly known as IJGB kids, the acronym refers to young Nigerians who study abroad but are back home for the Christmas holidays.

With the continual degradation of Nigeria’s educational system, the elite who represent less than 1% of the country’s population ship their kids abroad to further their education.

For most of these IJGB kids, most of their primary and secondary education is here in Nigeria while their university education is strictly overseas. It is non-negotiable.

Studying abroad is not a sojourn that alienates you from your country of origin. During the Christmas holiday, the I Just Got Back kids storm Murtala Mohammed Airport in their thousands with their Thrasher T-shirts and retro Vans sneakers.

The term itself (I Just Got Back) is a mockery of the UK/US accents of the returnees. At numerous parties and social gatherings (especially on the Island) in December, you can hear the phrase “I just got back, yeah” as many times as the sounds of knockouts on the Mainland.

The return of I Just Got Back kids signifies the beginning of the fun Christmas holiday scene. Clubs on the Island are fuller, there are more turnt house parties, there are sexier chicks on private beaches and more foreign currency thrown around.

IJGB kids also restructure the youth social ladder. As a proper Naija boy, you could have been balling from January to November in your Japanese car. You could have been the don of all the chicks and the life of the party but when IJGB boys are in town, you have to step aside for the men dem who have international exposure.

The same thing goes for chicks too. A Naija slay queen could have been killing the game all year long, 'tension-ing' boys with her thirst traps on IG. When the IJGB babes come back with the British accent and Fenty make-up, power has changed hands at least in December.

Let’s not pretend that IJGB kids don’t make December turnt. You see them at all the raves and concerts dressed like Travis Scott and SZA. They add life and youthful energy to the social scene in December.

We are now in December season and the IJGB kids will be storming Gidi anytime soon. December 2017 is about to be lit.

Morning Teaser: 'My married female boss has been harassing me sexually'

This worried man needs advice (Illustration)

Eddy is on the verge of losing his job after his married female boss gave him an ultimatum to have sex with her or face her wrath.

"Dear Pulse,

My name is Eddy, a 28-year-old man working in a consulting firm in Lagos. I got the job through a friend who recommended me after he was leaving for another job.

Before I got the job, I had been searching for over two years after I lost my last job so I decided to put everything into it and make a mark. I took on extra responsibility and was always willing to take up new tasks.

I was soon the favourite of most senior staff who felt I was making a good impact on the company and after three months, I was promoted to a line manager and that was when my problem started.

A new General Manager was brought in from the head office and was to be in charge of my department. The new GM turned out to be a woman in her early 40s and though she was not a beauty queen, she was pretty in her own right.

ALSO READ: "Morning Teaser: 'My female boss gave me an ultimatum: sleep with her or lose my job'"

During the general introductions, she told us she was married with three children and even in her office, she had photographs of her husband and children on her table and on the walls.

From the moment she resumed, the GM took a special interest in me and made sure I was always at hand whenever she had a special assignment. While others saw her as a very difficult person to work with, it was a pleasure working with her because she was very free with me.

She began telling me about her family, how she and her husband have been having problems for a while and how her marriage was not as happy as she makes it look. There were days she would lock herself in her office and cry and I would comfort her the best I could.

I was shocked one day when she told me that she and her husband had not had sex for over six months and how he starves her sexually. I was very uncomfortable with the discussion and tried to change the topic.

But she asked me if she was not good enough for a man and I told her any sane man would be glad to have her as a wife.

We were still talking when she moved closer to me and planted a kiss on my lips. I was taken aback and quickly moved away from her and told her very politely to pull herself together but she told me she would do anything for me to sleep with her there and then in her office.

ALSO READ: "Morning Teaser: 'My boss wants me to sleep with her or I lose my job'"

She was behaving like a woman in heat and it took all my willpower to keep her at bay and leave the office but since that day, she has been on my neck almost every day, begging me to sleep with her, promising me heaven and earth as a reward.

Now she has given me an ultimatum to either sleep with her or I will get to see the bad side of her and I would not like what will come out of it. She told me that I stand the risk of losing my job if I continue to resist her.

I am really confused. There are no jobs waiting for me out there if I am sacked but I also do not want to sleep with another man's wife.

Eddy."

Dear readers, Eddy is between a rock and a hard place and he needs to take a decision soon or risk losing his job. On Morning Teaser today, we want you to tell him what he should do.

Two young men who broke into a poultry to steal some Turkeys were given the beatings of their lives after they were caught.

Two young men who broke into a poultry in Afor Nnobi area of Anambra State and stole two live Turkeys were given the kind of treatment they never expected after they were caught.

A Facebook user, Okwudili Ofodile who posted the story on his wall as well as the video of the beating the suspects got, said they sneaked into the compound of the poultry owner in the early hours of Wednesday, November 29, 2017, and stole the birds.

Sexual Assault, Rape: HOL’ (hold) YOUR SIDE: A lady’s guide to protecting herself

How women can avoid rape and sexual assault

From a female perspective her is how to avoid sexual assault and rape.

Sexual assault and rape are burning hot topics in our society right now.

From timelines to real-life discussions, Nigerians are speaking up about rape and sexual assault culture. There has always been a culture of silence around these topics but now young Nigerians are speaking.

For men out there, no is no. I recently reached out to a young woman who has written about how women can protect themselves from sexual assault.

You can read her article below;

Disclaimer: Before reading this article, I would like to explicitly mention that it is a man’s responsibility as a decent human being, at least, to control his urges and sexual desire. No matter how attractive or exposed a woman is, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TOUCH HER IF SHE DOESN’T WANT YOU TO TOUCH HER….simple

Step 1: Watch Your Language.

Language is an essential means of communication, orally and physically. Don’t tell, or text, a guy sexual things if you know you’re not going to follow up with it when the time comes.  Don’t lead him on. Don’t let him think he’s “getting some” when you are not down for that. Avoid doing things that will make him think you want it too.

Step 2: Relay your intentions early.

When you meet a guy, you might not know if you want to be sexually involved with him yet, which is totally fine. Let him know. Tell him that you don’t think you want to “get down” yet. You don’t owe him a reason or an explanation afterwards but communicate your intentions. He likely won’t put pressure on you when you’re straight from the onset.

And sis, if you want to sleep with the guy, tell him…and save your strength for something better.

Step 3: Be assertive

Nobody has the right to force you to do anything against your will. While I must say that there is no level to assault, something as terrible as rape starts with things like awkward stares, sexual side comments, unnecessary touching, etc. It is imperative that you call out a man when he starts saying or doing things you are uncomfortable with.

Don’t give a passive, low-toned “stooooop”. Don’t ask “what are you doing” with a little smile on your face.

Be bold, be confident, be firm with your “STOP”; with your “Leave me alone”; with your “I will slap you if you ever try that again”.

Finally, I cannot write this article without mentioning the society’s response to sexual assault. If you witness or suspect an assault, please step in such a situation. Rescue the victim. Say something. Call out the predator. Get help if you can’t take charge of the situation alone.

Saying “It’s not my business” makes you an accomplice. In fact, it is your business because your sister or daughter may be next in line.

If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor – Desmond Tutu

Denis Suarez shines for Barca in Copa del Rey, Gerard Deulofeu disappoints

First-team fringe player Denis Suarez made his case for further looks from Ernesto Valverde. Barcelona are into the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey after a 5-0 win over Real Murcia saw them progress 8-0 on aggregate. The goals for Ernesto Valverde's side, who are looking to win the competition for the fourth successive season, came from five different scorers. Paco Alcacer got the first in the first half, with Gerard Pique, Aleix Vidal, Denis Suarez and Jose Arnaiz all cashing in after the break. Positives Valverde will have been delighted with the contribution from the Barca B players....

Pulse Opinion: Let's be honest, most of us at some point have been slave masters

Nigerian house-helps are treated very badly and no one is doing anything about it

Millions of Nigerians have house-helps and this makes them more or less slave masters.

The world is shocked by the fact that illegal migrants are sold as slaves in Libya.

The images of Africans sold as property has rightfully shocked the world. Nigerian and foreign celebs are speaking up about the modern slave trade business. The world is finally focused on the migration crisis in Africa that has been going for decades.

Hashtags, Twitter threads and Instagram photos are being used to incite action. While this is commendable, we cannot overlook that many Nigerians are slave masters too.

Hip-Hop legend eLDee rightfully pointed out this on Twitter on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. "I hope we also find time to reflect on the slavery & human trafficking in many of our African homes as well. Those”house-helps” from Benin/Togo whose masters get paid 10k every month to do chores from dusk till dawn. #Slavery" tweeted the respected veteran.

His Twitter thread highlights the hypocrisy of Nigerians who are railing against slavery in Libya but have house-helps at home.

In Nigeria there is a strong culture of having house-helps. These house helps are mostly teenage girls or young women who are employed to take assist with domestic chores in the house.

Back in the 90s, almost every Nigerian household had at least one house help. This arrangement still happens until today. An 'agent' hooks a family with a house help mainly from the neighbouring countries of Benin/Togo.

ALSO READ: How Nigerians are starved, beaten to death in Libya

The family pays the agent a monthly fee for the house help. It should be stressed that the house help does not directly receive payment for her services. The agent usually gives the house help a small percentage of the monthly fee for upkeep. In some cases, the family of the house help receives part of the payment too.

Most of these house-helps are school dropouts, only a few of them have a secondary school education. Due to poverty in their homes, these girls and young women are sold as domestic servants.

It's popular in mainstream Nigeria for a family to have a house-help. Yet, despite its popularity, there is no welfare body that looks out for these house-helps. No one checks on their personal welfare and if they are being abused physically, mentally or sexually.

And let's not pretend we don't know about house-helps whose lives are hell. A lot of these girls and women are treated like second-class citizens in homes where they serve. They are given shabby clothes to wear, and leftovers to eat.

If they are extremely unlucky, they would get beaten often by the man and madam of the house. Mental abuse is also part of the mix. We can't gloss over the fact that many of house-helps are sexually abused too. What is a Nollywood formula to us, is the reality for a lot of maids in many households. They are sexually molested and harassed in the homes they serve. We can't also rule out rape.

Look at what happens to these house-helps, (pimped by an agent, physical abuse, sexual abuse and mental abuse) and tell me that they are not slaves? Tell me that they are not treated like second-class human beings?

ALSO READ: How we treat our house helps like slaves

Firstly, there are females below 18 years of age who are house helps and this is wrong. It should be criminal. The priority of the girl child is to have a good education. This should be paramount and non-negotiable.

Hiring underage house-helps is slavery glossed as helping out a poor family. How many of these girls come out of poverty at the end of the day? How many of them get degrees and have meaningful jobs later on in life? Even the ones who are of age are stuck in a rot of poverty.

If the humanitarian basis of hiring house helps is to help these economically disenfranchised women, then Nigeria is running a system of domestic slavery.

What we have now as a house-help industry does not empower these women and does not set them up to have a better future. At best, many of these girls and women would move from home to home and still be in abject poverty.

The Bible says we should remove the plank in our eye before we remove the speck in our brother's eye. We can do better in how we employ and treat househelps. These women are slaves. They might not be in chains but the fact remains that they are slaves.

They earn below minimum wage and are vulnerable to abuse from their masters. There is no way to sugar coat this, these women are slaves and we are slave masters.

According to a press statement signed by Josiah Emerole, the Deputy Director and Head, Press and Public Relation on behalf of the Director-General, Julie Okah-Donli, Otubo also know as Esther Nicole, a 33-year-old sex trafficker, is the head of an international syndicate that specializes in taking Nigerian girls to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other Asian countries for prostitution.

Otubo, according to the agency, hails from Bomadi in Delta State and recently returned to Nigeria in July 2017 after serving a jail term in Dubai for same offences.

This is not the first time Otubo's name has been mentioned in sex trafficking. In 2015, a lawyer and human rights activist, Emeka Ugwuonye, had opened her can of worms and exposed her as the brain behind most of the prostitute trafficking syndicate where desperate girls were lured into some Asian cities like Dubai, Malaysia, and China for the purpose of prostitution.

Using his Facebook account to make the exposure, Ugwuonye said Otubo was the Madam behind the sex trafficking, describing her as a human trafficker who sends Nigerian girls into prostitution in Dubai.

According to Ugwuonye, Otubo was in the habit of videotaping the girls in the nude and blackmailing them into prostitution in Dubai.

He also mentioned that she was in the habit of dehumanizing the girls, forcing them to swear to an oath as well as maltreating them if they refused to pay the money she demanded from them or refused to sell themselves.

WEF Rankings: Is Nigeria that bad a country to live in?

Nigeria ranks 127th in road quality

The numbers show that Nigeria is not a paradise to live in.

The World Economic Forum numbers for Nigeria are brutal.

In the indices, Nigeria ranks low. The country does not break into the top 100 in any of the categories.

Here is a quick breakdown of the ranking;

Roads quality: 127th

Airport quality: 125th

Electricity supply: 136th

Education system: 120th

Math and science: 118th

Innovation: 82nd

Life expectancy: 133rd

Security: 127th

Trust in politicians: 130th

This is a damning report card. Nigeria gets a resounding F. It paints a grim picture of the country. Are things really this bad in Nigeria?

ALSO READ: Nigeria is 35th in terms of governance in Africa

Despite many promises from the government, the power supply is still epileptic. The education system is far from what it was in the 60s and 70s. The poor state of education reflects in the country's ranking in math and science, a lowly placed 118.

In 2015, life expectancy was 53 years old. There are still security challenges in a country where a murderous group is still at large, people can get kidnapped in churches and Boko Haram in the North-East.

The political class has no doubt failed the nation. 57 years after independence and Nigerians cannot boast about the basic things of life. It's 18 years since democracy returned to the most populous black nation on earth but that's just a mere statistic.

Nigeria's civilian leaders have proven that they either lack the knowledge on how to move the country forward or that they don't have what it takes to deal with the corrupt political class.

In 2015, Nigerians voted for change, an unprecedented move in this part of the world where the incumbent is kicked out of office. The new government has had many challenges some of them self-inflicted.

Irrespective of the camp that you are in, you are most likely to agree that the new administration hasn't improved the trust issues Nigerians have for politicians.

Men lie, women lie, politicians lie but numbers don't. With figures, we can see that Nigeria can do a whole lot better.  Nigerians don't know the bad shape the country is because we don't know better. This country is all we have known.

Yes, things are really bad in Nigeria.

A 15-year-old girl has been found brutally beaten, raped and murdered with her body dumped in a street in The Gambia.

A 15-year-old girl in Gambia has become a victim of some evil men who reportedly raped her, beat her to death and dumped her by the roadside in Banjul, the capital of the West African country.

According to Gambia York, a popular news site in the country, the girl who has been identified simply as Miss Vanisah, was found where she had been brutally beaten, raped, gruesomely killed and her body dumped on a street.

The mutilated body of the teenager, according to the news site, was found on the morning of Tuesday, November 28, 2017, along the Manjai Kunda Junction, in Banjul.

It was gathered that the Gambian Police has already released a statement where it said that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody while investigations have already begun in earnest.

This is not the first time such an incident is happening in different parts of Africa. In May this year, a 14-year-old South Africa student identified as Luyanda Mhlongo, was abducted by unknown men who took turns to rape her before stabbing and strangling her in a plantation not far from her home in Elokishini, near Eshowe in KwaZulu-Natal.

Imagine how much I suffer to make my money and my wife used it to be a sugar mummy for a man old enough to be her son.

I had to be very sure, so I mandated someone to be following her and when I got the evidence I wanted, I confronted her and initially, she denied and even accused me of lying against her.

But when I presented her with the evidence including the photographs of the two of them together at different functions, she broke down and confessed, begging me never to expose her.

Our children are all very mad at her and where I come from, it is a great abomination for a married woman to indulge in adultery and if some sacrifices are not carried out, the consequences could be devastating.

Some of the sacrifices include her walking naked in the marketplace to atone the gods of our lands. Though I am a Christian, I know if she does not carry out the sacrifice, she could die or a calamity could even befall me.

How do I go about this issue? Should I hide her shame or expose her to save my own skin? Do I divorce her and allow her to her fate?

Chief Omenka."

The teaser for the day was:

Morning Teaser: 'My father insists on marrying my best friend'

This pretty lady is desperate for marriage

Valerie had always urged her father to marry another woman after her mother's death but she is not happy as he has insisted on marrying her best friend.

"Dear Pulse,

My name is Valerie, a 26-year-old  lady working in one of my father's company in Lagos.

I could not stay in the sitting room with them and left for my room. later, Ruth came in and was telling me to understand that she was madly in love with my dad and that nothing would change between us.

I just told her to leave my room and was ready to force her out and she took the hint and left. In all my life, I had never had a serious disagreement with dad but on this, I have made my mind clear to him.

But he has always had his way and I know he will still have his way but for crying out loud, the idea of having Ruth as my stepmother is so nauseating.

Valerie."

Dear readers, after going through Valerie's story on Morning Teaser today, what do you think she should do?

Mother From Hell: This physically challenged woman killed her newborn baby [Video]

This physically challenged woman, Elohoh, killed her own baby shortly after birth

A physically challenged woman who was blessed by God with a baby has committed the atrocious crime of killing the innocent child.

A physically challenged woman identified simply as Elohoh has committed one of the most atrocious acts ever known after she killed her one-day-old baby by forcing boiled water into his throat and went further to suffocate him.

The incident, according to an eyewitness, Simon Ivan Ohwo, happened in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state on Monday, November 27, 2017, at the Iwhrekpokpo Quarters.

Ohwo who posted the ugly incident and a video of the suspect on his Facebook page, said Elohoh who is in her late 20s, and a plantain chips seller, gave birth to the baby late in the evening of that day by herself and promptly killed him later in the night.

Read what Ohwo posted on his wall:

"Wonders, they say, will never end; some of these wonders happen beyond human imagination, just like in this case of homicide.

A well-calculated plan has been executed by one Miss Elohoh who is in her late 20s and resides with her mother and siblings at No. 1, Omohwovo Street, Iwhrekpokpo in Ughelli North.

Miss Elohoh who is physically challenged and also a plantain chips seller, murdered her child after delivery today, November 27, 2017, in her home.

Reports have it that she put to bed a handsome boy late in the evening of that day in her house without aid or assistance from neighbours or a midwife.

But the cries of the baby attracted the attention of one of the neighbours who call on others on the supposed good news. On arrival, they saw that the door was locked and Miss Elohoh refused to open the door but on persistence, one of the siblings opened the door.

The kind-hearted neighbours did a marathon in getting some of the needed materials like clothes and food for the baby and mother since she didn't buy any.

Jubilation was on as people celebrated the arrival of the bouncing baby boy, most especially, from a physically challenged person, not knowing that Miss Elohoh had evil intentions for the child.

After the celebration, everyone went home, leaving Elohoh and one of her siblings since the mom was not around that day, hoping to check on her in the morning.

In the morning, the neighbours trooped in to see how Elohoh and her baby was doing only to find out that there was no baby anywhere.

They asked Elohoh about the child and she claimed that the father came late in the night and took the baby away having noticed that the child was not breathing well as claimed by her.

The neighbours could not believe the story Elohoh gave and decided to interrogate her; she held on to the same story but one of them suggested that the sibling will give a better story of what actually happened to the child.

And now this is the story as told by him. He said late in the night when everyone was gone, Elohor boiled warm water and forced it on the child to kill him but the child could not take much which ended up burning the entire mouth of the day old child.

As if that was not enough, when the child defied death, she took a rag and tied it around the child nose and mouth which suffocated the child to death.

When she noticed that the child was dead, she took the corpse and put him in a sack loaded with refuse and plantain peels, then gave it to an insane man to throw off early in the morning as refuse.

On hearing this, the whole neighborhood was filled with sadness on this evil act done by Elohoh. A search was carried out at all the refuse dumps in the area and finally, the corpse of the child was found with scars and bruises.

As we speak, this evil woman has been handed over to security agents at 'B' Division of the State Police Command for further investigation and actions.

Also, the father of the child is still unknown as she has refused to confess who impregnated her;  neither the mother or father has shown up at the station.

Again wonders will never end..... Only God will help us."

Rape & Consent: Guys, no means no!

Rape

Young men, if you do not have the consent of your sexual partner before sex, then it is rape.

Once again the issue of rape and consent is back on our timelines on our social media.

And to be honest, talking about rape will never be enough. It needs to be spoken about until it is universally clear that rape is an abominable act.

The recent conversation about rape on our social timelines is tied with consent. This has been a grey area for most men who believe that if a lady comes to sleep over that means she is willing to have sex.

This is a wrong belief. If a woman doesn't expressly and clearly give you consent to have sex with her it is rape. If a lady does not verbally say 'yes', then back off. Any move you make towards her after this will be considered rape.

Guys, it is quite simple. If she doesn't say yes, leave her alone. If she comes to your crib in a sexy outfit, it doesn't give you the permission to make a sexual move on her. Instead of getting verbal consent, men have deceived themselves into thinking that certain gestures are an invitation to sex.

If a woman sleeps on the same bed with you, it is not an invitation to sex. Cuddling is not consent. Spooning is not consent. I repeat, if she does not verbally agree to have sex, then it is rape.

Consent is such a critical aspect of sexual relationships. Picture this scenario. If your friend with benefits or your girlfriend had earlier agree to have sex when she comes to your place, she has every right to turn down your sexual advances later on.

Even during sex, if a woman says "no" or "stop", you have to stop. Anything you do after that is rape and you can go to jail for it.

Allow me to summarize everything into one sentence, if there is no consent, there should be no sex.
