Big Brother Naija: Reno Omokri slams show for encouraging sex between Teddy A, BamBam

Reno Omokri encouraged more attention when it concerns building morals as opposed to obscenity.

The former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan criticized BBNaija for encouraging obscenity.

Reno Omokri has slammed the Big Brother Naija reality show for its bold projection of sex, a feature he has termed as barbaric.

The author criticized the programme for embracing negative western values while bringing attention to an abandonment of the African culture which seems to be suffering a decline in terms of appreciation.

Show contestants, Teddy A and BamBam who had sex in a toilet were the subject of the author's submission concerning a depreciation of moral values in Nigeria as depicted in the 2018 edition of BBNaija.

The former aide of President Goodluck Jonathan considered the explicit scenes observed on the show as animal behaviour.

He proposed adopting technology from leading nations as opposed to their lifestyle which seemed to have created an opening for obscenity in Nigeria.

Apostle Johnson Suleman: Romantic pastor builds wife a shopping mall as birthday gift

Apostle Johnson Suleman set to release his biopic 'Black Elijah'

Items presented by Suleman to mark his wife's birthday include

Apostle Johnson Suleman of the Omega Fire Ministries has presented attractive gifts to his wife as she marked her birthday. The items included a shopping mall, petrol station and transport company.

This was announced to a church congregation who sent out shouts of joy concerning the generous offer.

"There is a side different from ministry that people do not know.  For those who don't walk from the side, you don't know that there is a shopping mall on the side.

"There is a gas station, there is a transport line. If you watch your screen, you will see it now," says Suleman whose comment ushered in a display of newly built facilities.

"We had an agreement when we got married that I was going to have investments and she will handle the investments while I handle the ministry and she has done that perfectly well.

"I don't have much to say, I don't have much to give but I built the shopping mall, the filling station and the transport company as a birthday gift for her," the pastor told a congregation which cheered loudly upon hearing the announcement.

His wife, Reverend (Dr.) Lizzy Johnson Suleman, was captured on her seat as she tried to prevent tears which have formed a cloud in her eyes.

Though a humanly act, the pastor's generous act is likely to stir reactions concerning the priorities of clergymen who are perceived to be invested in living a luxurious lifestyle.

OAP Daddy Freeze's position on tithe payment has generated controversy that has taken center stage in the hearts of some churches.

Church refuse refund request made by member who mistakenly paid N111k as tithe

Renowned On-Air Personality, Daddy Freeze, has shared a phone conversation he had with a man named Kenneth who complained about his church's refusal to return a sum of N111,000, he mistakenly paid as a tithe.

The complainant who intended to part with N11,000, revealed that he made payment via an online transfer but had found out after the service at Gloria Arena, Benin, that he had exceeded the planned value.

According to Kenneth, the Edo-based worship center insisted on holding on to the money claiming that it has already been submitted to God.

Waka-Waka: Husband doubts wife who took in 2 months after delivering last baby

Uche Duru accused wife of selling baby for a sum of N300,000.

A man accused his wife of infidelity and human trafficking after she got pregnant shortly after delivering a baby.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Rita Nwolu, the wife of a 33-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Uche Duru, has been questioned by her husband after she got pregnant two months after delivering new baby.

In a chat with Punch News, Duru accused partner of selling his child to a person identified as Mrs. Ngozi Egeonu, for a sum of N300,000. The latter who reportedly runs a baby factory rented his wife an apartment in order to have her within reach.

The husband seemed baffled about a situation that saw his wife take-in in quick succession. This ensured that he remained doubtful about the paternity of the anticipated child.

“I have been looking for my wife since December. I never knew that she had already sold my baby to a woman for N300,000.

"I also learnt that she is two months’ pregnant; how can my wife who was delivered of a baby two months ago be pregnant?

“I am not the owner of that pregnancy because I did not sleep with her. I have not seen her for the past two months and it is the police that discovered that she went to sell my baby.

"I will leave her if she fails to tell me where the pregnancy came from,” says Duru.

Nwolu, who has been accused of adultery however denied engaging in the practice of grooming her babies so that they can be sold for me. The woman attributed her pregnant state to her husband's high libido.

Occasionally, he assaulted her with a cutlass in a bid to initiate sexual intercourse report says. This is after he has taken a high in-take of Indian Hemp.

“My husband is the owner of the pregnancy. He impregnated me. After I gave birth to the baby, my husband would smoke Indian hemp and forcefully sleep with me.

“It continued to happen like that until I noticed that I was pregnant. Each time I refused to have sex with him, he would use a cutlass to threaten me,” the wife alleged to have cheated on husband revealed.

The police in Rivers State is handling the case as a conspiracy which involved an intention to sell a 2-month old baby without the consent of its father, which was only a preamble to the kicker.

It is a fact - a woman can conceive two months after child delivery

Fears raised concerning Rita Nwolu's pregnancy is only a jittery response to having little knowledge about a woman's reproductive system.

Healthline submitted  an instance of how possible it is for a mother to conceive a child shortly after delivering new baby.

A conversation between a doctor and a pregnant patient expressed this.

“I see here it says you had your first child… [pause]… nine months ago?” asked a doctor.

“Yes, that’s right.  I planned it that way.

"I wanted them to be really close in age,” replies patient whose response in a report by Healthline suggests there is a power to control to pregnancy frequency.

"I had my first baby May 2nd and breast feed only. I had my first period since giving birth on July 17.

"It was like my past periods lasting about 3 days medium/heavy flow. About a week before my next period was due I started to have signs of pregnancy - Extreme fatigue, dizziness, headaches, nausea, cravings, got really sick eating peanut butter (same thing with my first pregnancy), sore/tender breasts (which I have not had breastfeeding),etc," writes Angelsrejoice in a discussion published by the Babycenter.

A woman's breastfeeding frequency can affect their return to fertility shortly after birth according to reports. Healthline stated that this can be introduced as a form of birth control.

My Lagos Diaries: Freedom Foundation series reveals how Fatima was rehabilitated from drug addiction

Freedom Foundation series reveals how Fatima was rehabilitated from drug addiction

Watch "My Lagos Diaries Episode 1" reveal the touching story of Fatima and her actual struggle with drug addiction.

Drug abuse has become more rampant in the past decade, yet faint attention is being paid to its influence on users.

The introduction to drugs often marks the beginning of a downward spiral. Too few get lucky enough to receive the support and counselling they need.

Freedom Foundation Nigeria, a faith-based NGO, has always looked to shine the light on these vices and the social and economic challenges that affect so many but are largely ignored by most Nigerians.

This past weekend, "My Lagos Diaries", a thirteen week video journal by Dr Tony Rapu and Freedom Foundation Nigeria, debuted across Nigerian TV stations. The first episode featured the touching story of Fatima and her real-life  struggle with drug addiction.

We followed Fatima over a period of 9 years and watched as she went through detoxification, rehabilitation and reintegration into the society.

It was honest story telling, showing how hard it is to break the cycle of addiction but with assistance and encouragement we can all change our story.

Big Brother Naija: What's the big deal if people have sex on a reality show?

Teddy A and Bambam have bathroom sex Big Brother Naija

We really don't understand why people are freaking out because Teddy A and BamBam had sex on the reality show.

Big Brother Naija’s Teddy A and Bam Bam are two of the show’s most followed housemates; but since footage of the two having sex at 3 am began to circulate, they’ve become everyone’s favourite topic of discussion.

So, a reality show comes around with the promise of putting young Nigerians under one of the continent’s biggest and brightest spotlights.

For a small subscription fee, you get to see how these strangers acclimate, interact and basically, play the game as they vie for the main prize: 45 million naira.

Maintaining the show’s typically spontaneous yet organic energy is important, so the creators attempt to find a combustible balance of personalities: loud, expressive housemates join reclusive, endearing peers.

The formula works; by the second week, half the young population in cities like Lagos is keeping up with the show to varying degrees.

You are one of them.

You go to bed hoping that Angel would get over himself and socialise.

On your way to work, you’re on Whatsapp asking if your friends think Cee C is manipulative.

Then, one day, you wake up at 3 am for a nightly drink. Somehow you decide to check on your favourite housemates.

You turn the TV on and there it is: a silhouette of Teddy A and Bam Bam doing the oldest dance in the comfort of the toilet.

Over the next few hours, you tell everyone who cares to hear how you feel: you’re disappointed in Teddy A, Bam Bam and all the young Nigerians who like having sex in the toilet on continental cable television.

The reactions to Teddy A and Bam Bam’s frolicking on the white seat have been varied.

Fans of the duo’s budding relationship are somewhat joyous that their chemistry has now been consummated.

But this goodwill has been drowned out by various shades of criticism from those who feel wronged that two grown adults on a reality show had sex at 3 am in the morning.

It’s hard not to see these reactions as hypocritical.

Big Brother has found success by creating the perfect environment for sexual tension to arise and flourish. Most viewers of the show know this, out of their previous experience and what they’ve heard about the show.

The housemates like any of us on the other end of the screen are sexual beings. The way that usually works is that when two persons share a mutual attraction, they gravitate towards each other until boom, sex happens.

Every fan of the show knew this would happen at some point.

Do you feel like a hypocrite?

It’s funny how after the show became a trending topic, videos of the romp were sprinkled all around social media and they rapidly began to gather thousands of views on the same platform where the two were being criticised en masse.

As at the time of writing this, a file-sharing site has clocked 3000 downloads on “Teddy A and Bam Bam BBNaija Sex Video”.

So, when do we talk about how we are all perverts for sitting in front of the television at wee hours of the morning and waiting for the nature to take its course in the most erotic of manners?

Maybe then we can also talk about how we are hypocrites for judging two consenting adults for having sex?

ALSO READ: Fans of reality show are so passionate that they're making death threats

The only thing that was out of the ordinary about Teddy and Bam Bam’s romp was that there were cameras rolling when it happened, and it was because of you, you, you and you.

An acquaintance of Bam Bam’s went to Twitter to share her pain and disgust at the housemate for having sex on TV after her parents had spent so much effort on her.

I need a time-out, people.

This typically Nigerian form of hypocrisy, this holier than thou disposition to trending issues is why people who crept into the sandy bush and laid their backs on shrubs at NYSC camp to have sex are blaming Bam Bam for choosing the privacy of the toilet.

The blatant sexism on display is also very disturbing.

A lot of the attacks have been sent towards the young lady for showing a lack of class when it takes two, at least in this situation, to tango.

That the woman in this equation is the brunt of jokes and attacks on her person shows we have a long way to go. Much of the progressiveness associated with the younger generation only comes to play when we’re comfortable with the subject or the conversation has started long before we join it.

When it is something of this nature, our madness is made manifest in the village square that is Twitter.

The question stands: why are we surprised that two people had sex on a reality show?

Perhaps because it allows us the opportunity to project our imperfections and attack them for the same things we’re guilty of.

But deep inside, we’re Teddy A and Bam Bam, some of us wouldn’t even wait to seek privacy in a restroom if we were in their shoes.

Another class of us is waiting in front of the Big Brother Naija channel, watching carefully, hoping that Cee C and Tobi can stop fighting so that something can happen.

Skin Bleaching: Pregnant women in Ghana are taking pills to bleach their babies' skin

The women have been warned that the drugs can cause birth defects and damage the babies' limbs.

There is a growing trend in Ghana where women are taking pills during pregnancy to lighten the skin of their babies before they are born.

The pills work by creating chemical reactions that reduce the secretion of hormones that darken the skin of the child, making them light-skinned while they are still in the womb.

One of the drugs in question, Glutathione is one of the most talked-about supplements in the healthcare industry. However, mothers have begun manipulating its side effects to alter the complexion of their unborn babies.

Medical experts say the illegal use of these drugs can cause birth defects. In some cases, they can cause irreparable damage to the babies' limbs and internal organs.

Skin bleaching has become a major trend in Ghana and many other West African countries.

The trend is such a scourge that the Ghanaian government now considers it in common processes.

The country made the news in January when the immigration service disqualified candidates who had bleached their skin for fear that the physical nature of the job might take a toll on them.

A popular trend

Either by way of a neo-colonialist mentality or just the pressure to appear more desirable, men and women are taking various products, from specially prepared creams and lotions to pills, to lighten their skin.

To be fair, there has always been a social preference for light-skinned women in Nigeria, Ghana and most of West Africa.

As far back as 1961, Nigerian highlife musician Sir Victor Olaiya released the record "Omo Pupa" where he sang of his desire for a light-skinned woman.

Today, light-skinned women are depicted as the cream of the crop. One of the unspoken rules of beauty pageants is that light-skinned women are more likely to make the line-up and win than their dark-skinned sisters.

Light skinned women dominate music videos, catwalks and every other platform where the beauty of the female form is taken into consideration.

Women with dark skin are left under the pressure to meet these standards; it is why a country like Ghana, noted for its dark skinned beauties, is now gaining a sad reputation for being the West Arican epicenter of skin bleaching.

The perils of skin bleaching are numerous.

Some get let off easy with skin that remains permanently bleached even after they stop the process.

Others have to suffer through more extreme repercussions like thinning of skin, uneven colour loss that leads to a blotchy appearance, redness and intense irritation in particular areas such as the feet, face and knuckles, dark grey spots, acne, weight gain, osteoporosis and cancer.

In Nigeria, skin bleaching creams are the fad. The practice is so common that there are grades, depending on the financial capacity of the interested party.

In Ghana, the case is similar. A number of the country's celebrities, quite like Nigeria, have been accused of bleaching their skin over time.

Jealous Rage: Housewife empties acid on penis of husband who impregnated best friend

A Nigerian woman based in Kaduna reportedly poured acid on husband's penis shortly after learning about an affair he had with her best friend who is with child.

A woman reportedly poured acid on her husband's penis causing the death of the partner. She attacked him after sex.

In Kaduna, Nigeria, a woman who was caught up in a jealous rage after learning husband impregnated her best friend, reportedly emptied some acid on husband's penis resulting in death.

The Kemi Filani Blog noted that the woman, now a murder suspect, carried out the shocking act while her husband was asleep.

They had just made love but an aggrieved feeling had ensured that she remained awake long after sex.

It all seemed like a carefully thought out plan for the woman who had maintained silence about having knowledge about her husband's illicit affair with the close pal.

According to reports, she welcomed him home a delightful meat before proceeding to pour an acidic substance provided by a mechanic identified as Kabir.

Her husband who was rushed to a Federal Medical Center after the attack reportedly died on Tuesday, February 20, 2018.

A first visit to a hospital has seen a blunt rejection to neighbours who took him out of his residence for medical attention.

Despite the unfortunate event, the suspect claimed she loves the deceased.

"I love my husband so much, I was not intended to kill him. It was so painful to me that he got my best friend pregnant and he could not tell me, I knew about it from outsiders.

"I know I have over reacted but I want his family, our children and government to forgive me, I never planned to kill him," the woman stated during investigation.

It appears women in Nigeria are exploring violence as an extreme tactic to make known their disinterest when it concerns being subjected to abuses that have characterized their men-favoured society.

They are being dismissed as insignificant amidst the emotional blows of their partner's love for promiscuity.

The outcome? Viral cases of carefully orchestrated murders.

Woman who murdered first husband by rubbing poison on vagina plans death of second

In a confessional mail to Ghanaian relationship counselor, David Papa Bondze-Mbir, a woman whose identity was protected has revealed how she applied poison on her vagina and nipples in a bid to kill her first husband.

She explained that the family of the deceased attributed his death to a bad liver condition, oblivious of foul play.

Her motivation reportedly resulted from an allegation of infidelity by the late husband who cheated on her when she was only seven months pregnant.

She is now looking to repeat a similar act with current partner.

"I am in my second marriage. And yes, I am cheating on my husband. I wasn’t always like this: I used to be faithful. I used to be content with only one man. I used to love and trust, from deep within.

"However, my first husband turned me into something I never knew I could be: A murderer! I killed him, Dave… I poisoned my first husband, and watched him die in our bedroom, painfully.

"I mixed a deadly, colorless, tasteless, odorless substance with my lotion, smeared it gently on my breast, rubbed it on my vagina, put some on my lips: I coated every part of my body I knew he enjoyed putting his mouth and tongue on, and watched him swallow every bit of his own saliva, mixed with the substance.

"Dave, sometimes, a cheating, filthy, lying bastard, ought to die – for you to live. I deserved to live, Dave. I deserved to live. I’m glad our incompetent Ghanaian medical doctors could still not diagnose the true cause of his death after the autopsy.

"Everybody, including his family, all think he died from an acute liver problem. I am cheating on my current husband because I don’t want to lose another man in a marriage; so I would rather want to cheat on him too, as a form of closure – in order not to lose my mind.

"He started cheating on me when I was Seven (7) months pregnant. Smh! These foolish men eh: we give them everything, yet, they choose to fool around. I feel very sorry for this my current husband. I’m still timing him closely. His time will come," the unknown woman wrote Bondze-Mbir in a message on Facebook.

Her unapologetic disposition paints a picture of one who is willing explore any means to achieve her goals perceived ill-treatment in the hands of partner but she was however emphatic about having her name unannounced, almost bearing a paranoid reflection.

A level of confidentiality was observed by the advert placer in a bid to protect applicants.

Getting some women for marriage has however proved costlier than ever.

Safaree: Here's why people love posting thirst traps and leaking nudes

What better way to get attention than to post a photo of yourself leaving little to the imagination?

There’s nothing really new about people painting themselves in a sexual light or creating a sexually charged image. But as Safaree Samuels showed yesterday, a simple thirst trap or a leaked nude can become the biggest news story on a Monday morning.

Yesterday, photos and videos of the rapper, at various stages of being unclad, showed up on social media with his love stick taking center stage.

Very quickly, many people settled on one thing. The general consensus was that Safaree was packing heat.

For the rest of the day till the moment of writing this, social media users have made Safaree’s john into a trending topic, by asking questions about why Nicki Minaj would leave him or why he focused on rap instead of other apparently more obvious career options.

ALSO READ: IJGB season has officially started

Now if this surprises you, you either have sworn to be away from social media or you don’t have a phone. Or maybe you’ve been living beneath a rock. Or in a bunker.

In today’s social media-driven world, sexually suggestive photos have become a norm, a commonly served dessert, like the critically-acclaimed soap opera that comes at 6pm after the regular line-up of shows.

But how did it all begin?

People have always been thirsty.

Urban dictionary defines a thirst trap as “ A sexy photograph or flirty message posted on social media for the intent of causing others to publicly profess their attraction.”

Judging from this definition, the self-portrait was probably the first type of thirst trap.

Think about it. Centuries ago, painters and artists would make portraits of themselves in the best light possible. Then these paintings would be hung up in prominent places and sold to art collectors who would marvel at the beauty and skill of the artiste.

Fast forward to the present age, where your 16 MP Camera can do things that would throw Leonardo Da Vinci into depression.

Attaining the peak of celebrity status is usually impossible without being seen as a sex symbol in some capacity. With many mouths to feed and appetites to whet, they first began to introduce this thirst trap culture.

ALSO READ: Five celebrities whose nudes have been leaked

Kim Kardashian, for instance, is a master of the thirst trap. Whether in a dimly lit bathroom or at the launch of a book, the beauty entrepreneur has mastered the art of posting alluring, suggestive photos.

Nigeria also has its own evangelists of the thirst trap ministry. There may be varying accounts of how she got her body but Uche Mba’s photos typically cause a ruckus on Nigerian Twitter whenever she wishes.

With time, some of us common folk have started posting thirst traps too. But with no audience waiting for our updates, it makes it clear what the whole idea of thirst traps is about.

ATTENTION.

The second half of that urban dictionary definition reads, “ This is done not to actually respond or satisfy any of this attraction, but to feed the poster's ego or need for attention, at the expense of the time, reputation and sexual frustration of those who view the image or reply.”

Whether or not craving for attention is healthy is a matter for another day, but think about it, what better way to make yourself the focus of attention than to post a photo of yourself that exudes sex?

The thing with this is that thirst traps are pretty obvious. When you post a thirst trap, your objective is pretty clear.

In other caes, the photos or videos are released by way of a leak.

Now, a leak basically implies that something of value, a photo, message or intellectual property was released to the public without the knowledge and permission of the owner.

One of the more infamous cases of any such leak in Nigerian history happened when photos of Wande Coal spread-eagled on his bed, made their way to social media.

Primarily, a leak is usually done to discredit an individual or embarrass them.

Here's where things get interesting.

In some cases, regardless of their social status, individuals are often worried about how posting a suggestive or especially sensual photo or video would be interpreted.

Except you have thick skin or you’re convinced that the reactions will end up playing in your favour, the risk of the backlash is often too high to take.

Sometimes, a person wants attention but they don’t want to look desperate.

So they ‘leak their nudes’.

Nowadays, it is all too common to hear of someone’s nude photos being leaked, only to discover by some twist or the other, that the individual in question leaked it themselves.

There are examples; a few years ago, topless of photos of Tonto Dikeh made their way to social media. After the photo drew equal parts admiration and criticism, the actress failed to deny having a role in letting the photos out.

Our culture of thirst trapping and leaking nudes has become an industry on a global scale, as evidenced by Instagram models and accounts that amass millions of followers.

All of this because, regardless of the time of day, sex sells.

Depending on who's posting, the outcome may be different; but for the most part, at that moment when you hit 'SEND', the motive is usually the same.

Attention Seeker: Fulani man defends cow grazing, says they are more historic than some tribes

No ethic group can fight us face to face - Ahmad Usman Bello

The young man makes reference to the N200 note that has cows and agricultural produce printed on it.

A young Fulani man has done his bit to defend cow grazing in the country, by stating that cows are more historic than some tribes in Nigeria.

In the post he shared on Facebook, the young man makes reference to the N200 note that has cows and agricultural produce printed on it as part of our rich heritage as a country.

ALSO READ: Herdsman sentenced to 2 years in prison for illegal grazing

See his post below:

As rightly pointed out by a commenter, in as much as we know and appreciate the role cows have played in the country's economy, it is not enough to allow the madness that has been ushered in by the so-called Fulani herdsmen.

Cows are not the only image portrayed on the N200 note and the destruction of farmlands, that in the end produce food stuff, is a complete contradiction of what the imagery on the note stands for.

Pulse earlier reported that officers of the Sector 1 Sub-Sector A Troop deployed at Yelwata, arrested 10 suspected herdsmen while on routine patrol.

The men were reportedly arrested while destroying farmlands in Benue state.

To what end you ask?

Fulani herdsmen are no longer the docile, meek and mild stick wielding shepherds who went about tending their cattle without looking for anyone's trouble or fomenting any themselves.

Fulani Herdsmen

Nowadays, any mention of a Fulani herdsman is about illicit fear, terror, and fright. They are now licensed killers who go about wrecking havoc, destruction, and devastation everywhere they go.

Long gone are the sticks and machetes they used in chasing away dangerous animals coming for their cattle. They are now replaced with AK-47 guns, assault rifles, rocket launchers and grenades which they use to sack whole communities, kill and rape women with reckless abandon.

No one can say exactly when the easy going Fulani herdsman became a killer and bloodthirsty war monger but the transition has taken many by surprise.

From Plateau State to Adamawa, from Benue to Kogi, Kaduna to Bauchi, Delta to Edo, Enugu to Anambra, we wake up every day to hear how Fulani herdsmen wrecked one havoc or the other, killing indigenes with reckless abandon, as if they have a license to kill and maim members of their host communities.

The menace of the Fulani herdsmen has gone for too long without a check from security forces and the government seems not able or willing to check it and nip it in the bud.

In the last two years, they have become more daring with the attacks becoming more fierce and well-coordinated that it seems they have some backing from the security agencies.

It is now a common sight to hear how they stormed a community, attack the people, kill at random, burn down houses and sack the indigenes with none of them being apprehended despite the fact that they keep occurring at an alarming frequency.

Though security agencies and the government have come out to say most of the atrocities carried out are not necessarily done by the herdsmen as most of the attackers are foreigners who sneak into the country, the bottom line still lies in the fact that nothing is being done to put them in check.

And therein, lies the bane of our problems.

Fulani Herdsmen: Police arrest 10 men destroying farmlands in Benue

Fulani herdsmen have been accused of inflicting harm on innocent Nigerians and have often been engaged in land dispute.

The men were caught destroying farmlands at Tse-Tigir and Tse-Ndugh villages on Monday, February 26, 2018.

Officers of the Sector 1 Sub-Sector A Troop deployed at Yelwata, have arrested 10 suspected herdsmen while on routine patrol.

According to the reports, the men were caught destroying farmlands at Tse-Tigir and Tse-Ndugh villages on Monday, February 26, 2018.

Instablog reports that 5 motorcycles, 2 machetes, some assorted charms and the sum of N 120,000, were recovered from the suspects.

The suspects and the recovered items have been handed over to the Nigerian Police for necessary action.

The scourge that is Fulani Herdsmen

In the Northern parts of the country, back in the 80s and 90s, the Fulani herdsmen were seen as those docile, meek and mild stick wielding shepherds who went about tending their cattle without looking for anyone's trouble or fomenting any themselves.

But nowadays, any mention of a Fulani herdsman is about illicit fear, terror, and fright.

They are no longer the mind-your-business-I -mind-my-business guy who goes about with his flute to entertain himself while his wife milks the cows to take to town to sell Fura da nono.

Though security agencies and the government has come out to say most of the atrocities carried out are not necessarily done by the herdsmen as most of the attackers are foreigners who sneak into the country, the bottom line still lies in the fact that nothing is being done to put them in check.

In some instances, some of the actions of government make people wonder if they are really ready to take the fight to the so-called aliens.

The state governors are doing practically nothing to provide security for their people as the rampaging herdsmen go about their killing spree, yet they collect billions as security funds every month.

The police, the military, and the security services have shown that they cannot protect the citizens of Nigeria from the marauding herdsmen and it is left for Nigerians to rise up and defend themselves.

Illegal Immigrants: Africans in Israel are painting their faces white to avoid deportation

Israeli plans to imprison all illegal African immigrants who do not leave the country before the end of March 2018.

As one of numerous attempts to stop their deportation from Israel, African migrants are protesting in cities like Tel Aviv, in front of embassies, with their faces painted white.

This form of protest serves to suggest that racism is a major factor in their expulsion, implying that they are being sent back to home countries where their lives are in danger because their black lives are of no value to the Israeli State.

In recent months, Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu has spoken about how Israel is struggling to cope with what he calls a migrant crisis.

Israel wants no illegal immigrants

Now, weeks after offering its citizens 9,000 dollars to capture African immigrants, Israel is making good on its promise to arrest and expel unregistered African immigrants, albeit a month early.

Presently, the United Nations estimates that there are nearly 40,000 African migrants in Israel, the bulk of them being Eritreans and Sudanese.

Most of the refugees have fled adverse conditions in their home countries which, like Sudan, have been ravaged by war, economic hardship and in the Eritrean case, corruption.

However, in the eye of Israeli officials, these reasons do not validate the influx of Africans into the country. The Israeli public claim the immigrants came instead to steal jobs and economic opportunities.

To show that it is desperate for them to leave, Israel has proposed giving each migrant $3,500 to leave it borders, either to their home country or an alternative country where they are welcome.

The country had previously stated that it would begin sending dissenting migrants to prison by the end of March.

But recently, seven Eritreans who refused to be deported to Rwanda were arrested and detained, suggesting the process has been accelerated.

Protests have followed the imprisonment of the Eritreans in the Saharonim Prison in the south of Israel.

"Do black lives matter in Israel?"

Across the streets of Israel, African migrants have turned out in protest carrying cardboard sheets with messages such as "DO BLACK LIVES MATTER IN ISRAEL?" and "DEPORTED TO DEATH BECAUSE I'M BLACK".

Many of them do not know what their fates will be come the end of March.

The influx of Africans into the Middle East and Europe has created one of the worst migrant crises in recent history.

Across Eupoean countries, many Africans, Nigerians included, scurry at night to evade law enforcement and avoid being deported.

ALSO READ: Are people smugglers the good or the bad guys?

The biggest story out of this crisis has come out of Libya.

As 2017 wound down in its final weeks, first-person accounts and footage of Nigerians and other African nationals being sold into slavery in slave markets across the North African country shocked the world.

As it stands, there are no benefits to this sad trend. It is clear that the migrants' lives do not matter to the Israeli government as it should in their home countries.

The grim reality that many of them may be reluctant to admit is that painting their faces white in protest may not change anything.

Yahoo boys murder their grandmother for money rituals

Two out of a group of four Yahoo boys have been apprehended by the police in Edo State while trying to dispose the body of their grandmother Grace Ovbiedo, who was killed for money rituals.

Their arrest was revealed by DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), for Edo State, who mentioned that the force is in pursuit of two other accomplices.

The quartet, Dickson Oluka, Austin Enayi, Salaya Oluka and his brother Martins, who went on the run following the murder that occurred on Friday, December 12, 2017, received the instruction to murder the deceased after consulting a native doctor on how to become rich.

It was alleged that the group of wealth seekers tied a tortoise on their backs and smashed Ovbiedo's head on the wall.

This was based on a message they received from the priest who told them they can acquire their desire when a person close to them is killed.

According to many reports, this was confirmed by a family member who stated that the suspects executed the order as soon as they got home.

Revealed! "God told me to marry my sister," says Sabbatarian

Chiadi Ezeibekwe, a Mathematics teacher revealed that God asked him to marry younger sister, aged 17 years old.

A man who has been criticized for marrying younger sister revealed that the union has God's approval.

Chiadikobi Ezeibekwe, 25, who came under scrutiny for marrying his younger sister, Chibuzor, aged 17, has revealed that God directed him to do so.

The man who teaches Mathematics at a secondary school located in Aguata, Anambra State, told Vanguard News in an interview that his research in the Bible encouraged him to take a step to marry his sibling, an act that has left residents in his community feeling disgruntled.

It was gathered that the union between the pair caused some youths in his area of residence to burn down his church following the act perceived as sacrilegious.

Ezeibekwe explained that marrying his sister will prevent the spread of diseases in his family.

“I am a Sabbath and in searching through the scriptures, I discovered that one could marry his sibling

“So, we went ahead with the arrangement to marry my younger sister. God told me to marry my sister and she also saw same vision. There are places in the Bible that support such marriage.

“Those in doubt should read Songs of Solomon chapters 4 and 5 and 1st Corinthians Chapter 7. Since we took this decision, I have not felt anything unusual, or felt that I did anything wrong.

“In the school where I teach, many people ask me about it and I boldly refer them to the Bible.

"Besides, by marrying one’s sibling, there will not be the possibility of introducing ugly situations, like diseases or social vices into the family," revealed Ezeibekwe, whose father reportedly made a U-turn concerning support for the unusual union between his children.

Marriage Trouble: Woman forced to sleep with daughter at banks for failing to give husband male child

A woman whose husband brought home a new wife has been resigned to spend nights in parking lots.

A woman has been forced to spend her nights sleeping at parking lots belonging to banks after husband sent her packing alongside 10-year-old daughter, Amara. This is reportedly as a result of not being able to deliver a male child.

A Facebook user Prince Gwamnishu Harrison discovered her on an early morning shortly after arriving Lagos state.

He took to his personal page to share her story which touched on some of the abuses experienced by Nigerian women in their marriages.

It was gathered that her husband has taken a new wife who he anticipates will bear him the coveted fruit of a boy which brings along with it a sense of masculinity - an age long sentiment that has characterized African men.

"Arrived Lagos State this morning at 2:07am and surprise to see a woman and her 10yr old daughter sleeping in front of a Bank.

"I observed them from afar, came closer to avoid waking a mad woman.

"I woke them up and ask to know why they were sleeping in such a place. She opened up and told me she has been sleeping there for two nights," Harrison reported while narrating how he met the pair.

The woman whose name was not revealed mentioned that her husband asked him to leave his apartment in the dead of the night because of her inability to deliver a male child.

She envisaged travelling to Imo State in light of the unfortunate event but hasn't been able to afford transportation fees.

"Trouble started when my husband brought in a new wife because I couldn't have a male child. Last week Saturday at about 1:00am, he woke me and my Daughter (Amara), told us to leave his house in presence of his new wife.

"I didn't utter any word, no fight, he helped me parked my things out and that of my daughter. My luggage was much so I left some at the Security Post.

"I had nowhere to go at that godly hour except traveling back to Imo State but have no transport and even where to stay in Imo State," say the woman according to the Facebook post shared on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.

Prince Gwamnishu Harrison who appeared moved by her story confirmed that he offered some money in a bid to get her to the desired destination.

He sought to use his post to seek help for the troubled woman whose phone number was included in his comments.

Afflictions suffered by women in their marriages has motivated malicious reactions given in response to the difficulties they have experienced in the hands of partners who have unknowingly encouraged grave responses such as murder.

Followers of the Big Brother Naija reality show have made a mockery of the English speaking skills of Bobrisky whose voice was heard directing insulting remarks at controversial house contestant Cee-c.

In a video posted via Instagram by the Lazy Writa Blog, the Nigerian Barbie expressed with passion his disapproval of Cee-c who had displayed a trait of pettiness since joining the show.

Science Student: 5 reasons why you should watch Olamide's new music video

After changing his hairstyle one more time and signing on two young artistes off the streets, Olamide, this week, released the much-anticipated visuals for the “Science Student” video.

After changing his hairstyle one more time and signing on two young artistes off the streets, Olamide, this week, released the much-anticipated visuals for the “Science Student” video.

As he has shown with his hit single, “Science Student”, whether you understand his lyrics or not, Olamide is one of those few artistes who has transcended the primary description of a musician to influence and mirror Nigerian pop culture.

After changing his hairstyle one more time and signing on two young artistes off the streets, Olamide, this week, released the much-anticipated visuals for the “Science Student” video.

A cursory look at the runtime may have you confused as to what it really is, but in just under eight minutes, with creative direction from Kaffy, Olamide attempts to bring the hit song to life.

Opinions are divided as to whether it was a sweet score or a very wide miss. Here are 5 reasons why you should watch Olamide’s Science Student video, just so you can find out for yourself.

(1) Olamide uses symbols to represent common ideas:

After being accused of promoting drug culture, there was always the risk that the video would veer too closely to depicting actual drug use in a bid to keep things real. The video’s creators dodged this bullet by using symbolism in an appropriate manner.

Drug addicts who are the subject of the song a la “Science Student” are depicted as mindless zombies.

In the scene where Olamide walks into the seemingly abandoned building, he sees zombies working with bunsen burners, mixing flasks and other tools that allude to scientific research but also make it clear that this is drug addicts making various harmful cocktails out of different drugs.

(2) The pop culture references are numerous:

Trust Olamide to keep it real for himself and the streets he speaks so fondly. The Science Student video is filled with pop culture references that you may have noticed but struggled to place.

In the first few scenes, for instance, when his car breaks down, Olamide’s associate attempts to fill the car’s tank from an old fuel machine which turns out to be faulty.

ALSO READ: Banning 'Science Student" won't have Nigeria's growing drug problem

Veterans of road travel in Nigeria will recognise that fuel machine as a model from the 90s that is common in stations in smaller towns.

Also, Olamide is led into the zombie’s den by a woman carrying plastic bottles on her head.

In Lagos, particularly on the mainland, and in south-western states, alcoholic herbal drinks are sold in this manner by women who walk in the sun advertising healing and intoxication at the bottom of a cup.

(3) This is Michael Jackson’s Thriller made for Lagos:

One of the first things anyone would notice from the teaser for Olamide’s “Science Student” was that it brought up memories of a very famous music video from before most of us were even kids.

That video is Michael Jackson’s "Thriller", a 14-minute horror-themed music video for the song of the same name, released on December 2, 1983.

The video is seen as the most influential pop music video of all time and has had a profound effect on pop culture and the direction and quality of music videos since.

The full video for Science Student shows that the video’s creators drew inspiration from John Singleton’s masterpiece.

After Olamide tries to avoid the zombies much like Michael Jackson in Thriller, he becomes one of them. He then goes on to lead them in a furious dance routine, again like Thriller.

At a point during this routine, you can even here a deep grunt that reminds you of a similar sound in MJ’s Thriller.

(4) The "Science Student" video is a massive production:

Over the course of 7 minutes and 35 seconds, Olamide calls on himself, three of his label associates, fellow artiste, Lamboginny, dancer Kaffy, and a team of over 20 dancers to create a music video that merges filmmaking with music, much like its inspiration.

That’s not counting the men behind the scenes, costumiers, production assistants, directors and more. If nothing, it shows how much effort the artiste was willing to put into making something of note.

In an industry where it is too common to see well-packaged mediocrity, it is a win for the artiste and fans who believe they deserve much more.

(5) Olamide manages to discourage drug abuse :

As we noted earlier, Olamide was first criticised for using his song to promote drug abuse with vivid references to commonly abused drugs.

Even after he denounced such claims and stated his intent to draw attention to the problem, the onus and pressure were still on him to prove otherwise.

ALSO READ: These are all the drugs influencing Nigerian music in 2018

While the video may have focused more on the theatrical than much else, Olamide managed to maintain his intent to discourage drug use in spurts.

On the walls of the zombie den where he spends the first half of the video, there are warnings written on the wall. At the end of the video, a message is written “BE SMART. DON’T START. CHOOSE TO REFUSE. BE ABOVE THE INFLUENCE. #SAYNOTODRUGS”.

Perhaps, the most prominent delivery of this message is in depicting the drug users as zombies. Drug use is often glorified in music and pop culture, but by depicting extreme addiction in such a manner, Olamide shows the oft-ignored other side of the coin.

Possessed! Mom takes baby's corpse for shopping shortly after murder

Security guards at a Victoria's Secret store discovered a woman was carrying the corpse of her baby when they suspected shoplifting.

A woman was apprehended while carrying her baby's corpse in a purse during shopping at Victoria's Secret store.

In Manhattan, New York, Tiona Rodriguez, a 21-year-old lady was caught with the corpse of her baby, enclosed in a purse while she was shopping at a Victoria's Secret store.

She was caught when security guards manning the boutique suspected her of shoplifting which prompted a search and subsequent discovery of the dead baby report says.

The smell which oozed out from the bag reportedly gave her away.

In a Facebook message to a friend, an unremorseful Rodriguez talked about burying the child and heading for a take-out with her company.

"Take this s*** and dig a hole, put it somewhere then we can go and eat some pancakes," the woman who has been resigned to prison for a period of 16 years wrote.

She reportedly pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter under extreme emotional disturbance in January 2018, prompting a sentence from a judge.

During trial, it was gathered that Tiona Rodriguez has been pregnant three times, her first encounter happened when she was 14.

Foul odour gives suspected ritualist away, found with stinking baby corpse

The foul odour of a decomposing baby concealed in a polythene bag blew the cover of Ajiboye Olusola, a 42-year-old man who was apprehended by the policemen in Ogun State at the Sapade Motor Park on Friday, December 22, 2017.

Commuters who boarded a vehicle with the suspect raised an alarm which invited the presence of the police due to the offensive smell that oozed out of the carriage.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ogun state noted that Olusola mentioned that he was taking the corpse of the infant for a burial in Lagos when questioned, Punch News reports.

A statement offered by the PPRO disclosed that the suspected ritualist had embarked on a trip from Kwara state until he was arrested.

His explanation concerning how he came to be in possession of a human body appeared unconvincing which prompted a decision to take him to a police station.

The way to a man's heart is sex according to this beauty

On Instagram, a woman named Angel Christopher shared some thoughts aimed at correcting the misconceptions concerning sex.

An Instagram user expressed through her page an opinion concerning ways to keep a man.

In a bid to educate Instagram followers about the values and misconceptions about sex, a woman Angel Christopher has dropped a bomb-shell - the way to a man's heart is sex.

She shared the submission on personal page on Saturday, February 17, 2018.

Her post saw her attempt to redirect notions about sexual intercourse which is believed to be unholy according to Christopher who encouraged creativity in bed.

The woman backed up the Bible's position about faithfulness in marriage and painted feisty pictures about what the experience should feel like when it concerns sex.

"A lot of people don’t associate sex with God – they associate it with Satan and darkness, as if sex is not holy.!!

"The bible is explicit when it comes to sex. Sex is holy within marriage, and there is no prescribed style.

"Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the missionary position is the only sexual style. Not discussing sex in a marriage is a bad thing.

"Women wake up from your slumber, if he's not doing the styles with you, he's definitely doing it with someone else, gone are those days when they say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, now is the way to a man's heart is how you respect and satisfy him in bed.

"Men love sex!!!! #Gudnyt," writes Christopher.

The writer's submission is a reflection of a Nigerian society that has placed a high value on men.

Societal norms have put women at the receiving end of harm facilitated by members who feel a need to service the dictates of culture.

This has ensured the existence of a movement of feminist who have passionately preached for more right and freedom to women.

For failed unions, divorce is an option that is commonly being explored.

Bedridden woman, 75 seeks divorce from husband who stopped servicing her

Marcella Mukami, a 75-year-old Kenyan woman has asked a court to dissolve her marriage to her husband Peter Kinyugo, over claims that he hasn't been giving her enough attention.

According to reports, Kinyugo prefers to stay with his second wife ignoring the bedridden complainant who also accused the defendant of adultery despite participating in the traditional marriage that welcomed a union between him and an unnamed woman.

“You are accusing your husband of failing to provide services to you; do you still need those services now?” Waiganjo Gichuki a lawyer to the defendant asked Mukami.

“When my husband married my co-wife we lived happily under one roof, we had allocated duties to cook and household chores, but it is because my husband is such a clever man that I did not raise an objection,”

“He (Kinyugo) also forced me to participate in the traditional marriage to his second wife," Mukami told the court.

Ritualist activities on the rise in Nigeria

There has been a significant increase in case of bodies being discovered without their vital organs which usually is a sure sign of ritualism.

The gruesome cases have been piling up and have only gotten worse in the last two years.

Residents of Amanwaozuzu community of Ikeduru Local Government Area Imo State were thrown into panic and anxiety following the discovery of the corpse of a young lady without the head and private parts.

According to a blogger, Ifeanyicy Njoku, the lady who is suspected to be in her 20s, must have been murdered by suspected ritual killers who dumped the body inside a bush in the community.

Black Panther: 5 reasons why Wakanda is the ultimate African country

Wakanda is the perfect mix of everything we want from foreign countries and the things we love the most about home.

With Black Panther fever at a high, Africans are showing their love for Wakanda in many different ways.

If you're not prepared, you might be troubled when you hear young men randomly say "Wakanda Forever" to each other repeatedly. Everywhere, from the streets of Ojuelegba to Old Trafford, young black men are crossing arms in the official Wakanda salute.

It is hard to discount the emotions behind these gestures. While Black Panther has been praised as a phenomenal movie, the fictional African nation of Wakanda has extra appeal to Africans who live and breathe the dream of a real-life African utopia.

Here are 5 reasons why Wakanda is the ultimate African country.

(1) They were not colonized.

All of Africa's countries save Ethiopia were colonised by western powers at some point in the 19th and 20th centuries.

As an African, it is not out of place when one imagines what the continent would be without western interference. Wakanda is the answer.

According to the Black Panther story, Wakanda avoided "the colonizers" by staying secluded and building a defence system that was more than worthy of the invaders.

In the word of Lupita Nyong'o, it is an example of what could have happened if Africa was allowed to realise itself by itself.

(2) Wakanda has a king.

In most pre-colonial African societies, African kings ruled over vast nations and empires.

The ruling class was often autocratic but it built a system where children of royalty were trained to be leaders from the front and imbued with high levels of character and tenacity.

The introduction of western democracy broke that system.

However, in Wakanda and T'Challa, fans get a peek into a future where kings who are trained for the role would rule over the nation with a depth of character that is admittedly in short supply in real life.

(3) Wakanda is Africa in the future.

The afro-futuristic theme in the engineering, technology, construction and culture of Wakanda and its people provided a glimpse of what the future could be if we combined our traditional institutions and the elements of indigenous culture with advancement in technology.
