Homosexuality: Documentary shows what it means to be gay in Nigeria

Homosexuality in Nigeria

Wondered what it feels to be gay in Nigeria? Watch this video and find out.

Pop culture site VICE released a video about being homosexual in Nigeria.

The video titled 'Being Gay In Nigeria' was published on Sunday, October 29, 2017. The short clip is 2:38 seconds long and it features two men who speak about homosexuality in homophobic Nigeria.

The first man featured in the clip simply goes by the name, Datari, "a fellow Englishman and former stylist to UK boy bands."

Datari speaks on the anti-gay law in Nigeria and why he has to dress up in a manly way in public. "If you are really camp, then trust me you can't survive in Nigeria,"  he says. 'Camp' is a British slang for when a man acts feminine.

"Why do you think I wear shorts and hats all the time? I want to be butch. I wish I could change my voice because that's like a dead giveaway" says Datari.

He then goes on to talk about what the average gay person in Nigeria goes through, public persecution and jail. Datari claims some gay Nigerian celebs travel abroad and claim asylum because of the persecution.

In the second bit of the video, an unidentified Nigerian man who is a hairdresser speaks about his mother's disapproval for his line of profession.

"She was actually telling me it's not a job for a guy. She feels ashamed that her son is touching a woman's hair"  he says.

Further, into the video, the hairdresser admits he experimented with homosexuality but he didn't fancy it. He says he likes women very much.

He claims that there are many influential gay people in the country. "In Nigeria, you will get a lot of connections when you are gay" he claims.

Great News: Muslim Prof. bags PhD in Christian studies

Prof. Rasheed Jimoh-Ijaodola has broken the barriers of religion in Nigeria

A Muslim Professor has broken the barrier of religion by bagging a Ph.D in Christian Religious Studies.

A Nigerian Law Professor, Rasheed Jimoh-Ijaodola, has broken the barrier after he bagged a doctorate degree in Christian Studies at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, even though he is a Muslim.

Prof. Jimoh-Ijaodola who is the Dean at Oba Erediauwa College of Law of Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, attained the great feat which has delighted many Nigerians after he decided to explore the Christian world despite reservations from many of his friends and family members.

This was made known in a statement signed by Obajide Ilugbo, Head, Public & External Relations Unit, Office of the Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University, made this known in Benin.

Ilugbo said Prof. Jimoh-Ijaodola’s thesis examined Biblical prophesies and other prophesies including the prophecies of Nostradamus.

The PRO added that the professor's research focused on the end time and the role of humans in the fulfillment of those prophesies.

“In the thesis, Prof. Jimoh-Ijaodola noted that the end is now and that humans should be careful so that the end will not come upon us as the Biblical thief that came unexpectedly.

He pleaded that the world should embrace peace and live in harmony for the sake of the earth and humanity.

Nations should be careful of war and proliferation of weapon of mass destruction. The end time scenario is a picture of a man eating man and that the problem will most likely start on the claim on ownership of Jerusalem,” the statement pointed out.

Randy He-Goat: 'I only did it twice with her' - Suspected rapist of 85-yr-old woman

Kehinde Ariyo said he only raped an 85-year-old woman twice

A 29-year-old man who was arrested for raping an 85-year-old woman to coma said he only had sex with her twice.

A 29-year-old man who was arrested by the Osun State Police Command for allegedly raping an 85-year-old woman to coma says he only raped her twice and the old lady could not have passed out on account of that.

Punch reports that the suspect, Kehinde Ariyo, was arrested after he committed the heinous crime in the Ilesa, a commercial town in the state on Friday, October 27, 2017.

Confirming the arrest of the suspect described as a serial rapist, the State Police Commissioner, CP Fimihan Adeoye, who paraded Ariyo at the state Command Headquarters in Osogbo, said the incident happened at Ogudu area of the town.

CP Adeoye said the suspect sneaked into the house of the old woman at about 11 pm on the night of the incident and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her till she went into a coma.

CP Adeoye added that the woman sustained various degrees of injuries on her body including her private part, and was rushed to a private hospital where she was resuscitated.

It was gathered that Ariyo and the victim lives in the same area and used to go on errands for the old woman in the past and took advantage of his closeness to her to attack her.

“The woman passed out during the rape but came back to life after some hours; the suspect was arrested the next day," CP Adeoye began.

Continuing, he said:

“This is the height of wickedness in our society. The boy injured the woman in the process, but she has been treated.”

However, in a chat with newsmen, Ariyo who admitted to raping the woman, claimed he was drunk after attending a party and needed a place to pass the night.

He said when he could not go to his own home, he pleaded with the woman to allow him to pass the night at her place to which she agreed. He said he slept on a couch in the passage while the woman went into her bedroom but he later went sneaked into the room to sexually assault her while she was sleeping.

“In the night, I went to the room where the woman slept and told her that I needed to tell her something. I told her to open her door and she did. I cannot remember other things.

I just know that it was not more than two rounds and I know it was the work of Satan,” he said.

Crucify Him: Policeman who abducted, raped 14-yr-old girl arrested at last

The police officer, Barau Garba, is accused of abducting and raping a 14-yr-old girl

Following public outcry, a police officer who was accused of abducting and raping a 14-year-old girl has been arrested in Anambra.

A police officer who was accused of abducting a 14-year-old girl and raped her for six days, rupturing her private parts in the process, has been arrested.

The suspect, Corporal Barau Garba was picked up by operatives attached to the Anambra State Police Command on the orders of the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Garba Umar, following an outcry by Nigerians.

Speaking at a press conference in Awka on Monday, October 30, 2017, CP Umar said Garba abducted the minor near her residence at Hausa Quarters, Asaba, and kept her in custody for some days at Okpoko in Onitsha, but denied raping her.

Umar added that the suspect was attached to Mobile Squadron in Sokoto State but deployed to Anambra on special duty.

In a statement sign by the CP himself, he said:

"The Police Command wishes to confirm the arrest of F/No 275601 CPL Bara’u Garba attached to 7PMF Sokoto but deployed to Anambra State on special duty for the alleged abduction and defilement of a 14-year-old girl.

The erring policeman was arrested, defaulted and detained accordingly; and is facing police internal disciplinary procedures. He will be arraigned in an appropriate court of the land as soon as the criminal investigation against him is concluded.

This is indeed an isolated case and does not reflect the core values and ethics of the Nigeria Police Force. Justice will not only be done but seen to have been done.

The suspect confessed to have seen the girl wandering about in Asaba because she had lost the money with which she was sent on an errand by her parents.

He used the opportunity to lure and kept her in his custody but denied having carnal knowledge of her.

However, we will soon confirm whether he had carnal knowledge of the minor or not because an investigation is ongoing, while the minor is also undergoing a medical examination.

I can assure the public that the Corporal will be arraigned as soon as the criminal investigation is concluded.”

Garba to book after all efforts made to get him had proved abortive.

Marriage Scams: Nigerian men who marry white women for visas

For papers and visa some Nigerian men marry old white women

There are Nigerian men who marry women just to get visas and immigration papers.

It's a fairly common sight at Ikoyi registry.

We have seen photos of young Nigerian men getting married to white women (usually older). These photos, whenever they pop up online, brings out a general reaction from Nigerians.

The reaction is always one of amusement. You see, we all know what is going on. When a young man exchanges marital vows with a white lady, he is most likely pulling a scam. He is in it for money and the papers and not for love.

This scam has been on since Nigerian men sought for greener pastures in the golden streets of Europe and America. The hook of this scam is to get in contact with a white woman (preferably older). These days this is done online via several dating websites.

The second step is to make her fun in love with you. The third thing to do after she is head over heels for you is to propose. This is when you see these women fly into Nigeria and get married to a young Nigerian hustler at a wedding registry.

A few days after tying the knot, the newly wedded couple fly out of the country to start a new life. When they get overseas, London, Seattle, Madrid or wherever, our dear Naija boy flips the script on his naive bride.

"I met my Nigerian husband in 2008 and brought him here on a K-1 visa in 2009. I thought he loved me by all the sweet words he said, the hundreds of hours on the phone and webcam, messenger....." wrote an American woman who goes by the username Rannk 1 on the forum section of the website Visa Journey.

In 2014, she revealed how she was duped by her Nigerian husband.

"He was on several sites. I was not aware of this until three months later. website subscriptions. He was on several sites. I was not aware of this until three months later" she wrote on the forum.

After chatting up women on numerous dating websites, her Nigerian husband told her he was leaving her on Christmas Eve. "He has ruined my life and my kids' lives. He sucked $15,000 from me overall, he took my youth and beauty, he damaged my relationship with my family, I lost my best friend, he took away all my hope and happiness in life. I regret ever meeting him!!!!" ranted the American lady.

This is a fairly common style of operation for Naija guy who is into marriage visa scams.

In 2015, a British woman Deana Charles told The Sun UK how she was swindled by her Nigerian husband. "He told me he’d only married me for a visa. It explained why he’d been so keen to get me pregnant, the authorities would find it harder to deport him" she revealed.

It seems nothing will stop some of us from getting that Green Card or visa. What's love when you have the chance to leave Nigeria and reside in Europe or America?

In America, some male African-Americans get married to white women because it is a status symbol. For Nigerian men, it is just another way to make it to the promise land.

All is fair in love and visas.

Traffic: How to protect yourself from getting robbed during rush hour

A typical day on a Lagos road

Here are some suggestions on how you can stay safe in Lagos traffic.

Lagos traffic on the weekdays is not for the faint hearted. The evening rush hour can turn a 15 minutes journey into a one hour journey.

During this rush hour, traffic builds up, cars drive bumper to bumper, hawkers comes out to sell their goods and also people get robbed.

The past week has seen victims of car robberies (most of them being women) taking to social media to share their first hand experiences.

Runway model Marie Miller, shared what happened to her on October 29, 2017 in Ikorodu on Instagram.

TV producer, Agnes Marquis also put up a post about her experience on October 16, 2017.

Here’s how to keep yourself safe in traffic:

Keep valuables away

Put your laptop and handbag in the trunk, your phones too. If you need your phone because you are using it to navigate your location, dim the light of the phone and place it where it won’t be clearly visible.

Take off all jewellery (earrings, necklace, rings and your watch).

Lock doors and keep windows wound up

If your air conditioning is not working, crack the window down just a tiny bit. Test and see that even your fingers can’t pass through.

Be vigilant at all times

Pay attention to your surroundings.

Place self defense gear next to you

This can be pepper spray, a personal alarm or even a spanner - something you can defend yourself with.

Keep a dummy phone/bag in your car

In most cases, these robbers leave immediately they get what they came for. Keep a decoy mobile phone or a decoy bag you can hand over to them as soon as the threat is established.

Call for help

Usually in these traffic situations, some of the other cars are unaware of what’s happening around them. In case you find yourself in a robbery situation - press your horn to draw attention to your situation. And try to squeeze your car out to there.

Boko Haram: Retired officer blasts Fin. Min. over insurgents attack

Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun

A retired Nigerian Air Force Commodore has attacked the Finance Minister over her refusal to release funds for the fight against the insurgent sect.

A retired Military officer, Air Commodore Audu Abubakar [rtd], has queried Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, for her ineffective defense budget performance especially as it has to do with the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents.

Comm. Abubakar who is a renowned security expert and analyst, in a letter to the Minister,  noted that failure of Nigerian troops to overrun the insurgents plotting attacks on Nigerian people and the military in the recent Sassawa attack where over eight soldiers were killed, was not as a result of paucity of funds, but her laxity and wrong perception of defence budgets as just 'another item of expenditure.'

The angry Comm. Abubakar said the voted funds were within reach but that Adeosun's refusal to release the funds for reasons best known to her and her surrogates has incapacitated the Military.

ALSO READ: "Boko Haram: 'Politicians plan to use insurgents to create tension in Borno' - Group"

In the letter, the former Military egg-head alleged that Adeosun’s failure to release funds to the Military for counter-insurgency operations has portrayed her as a masked member of the famous cabal, exploiting every avenue to truncate the progress of the President Muhammadu Buhari regime on security.

Parts of the letter reads:

"I am still grieving severely over the unfortunate incident of Boko Haram terrorist attacks on the 233 Battalion at the Sassawa Military Forwarding Base in Damaturu, Yobe State.

We lost some of our best soldiers to this attack, which I believe could have been averted had we allowed conscience and exigency to shadow our actions and decisions.

First, I am not convinced that the Nigerian Air Force [NAF] failed to do the needful as accentuated by reports on social media space, whilst taking off our eyes from the real underlying issues.

I am prompted to write this open epistle to you because our people say, there can never be smoke without fire.

Madam, you may not understand exactly how I feel, but as a retired officer of the Nigerian Air Force, it is disheartening to see colleagues in other arms of the military wasted carelessly because of the insensitive disposition to matters of warfare.

There are claims that the Federal Ministry of Finance which you head, failed to remit money for the funding of NAF, which is a critical component of the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.

Hon. Minister, as you may have been informed or gleaned from media publications, NAF failed to respond to the intelligence report from the Army Forward Base at Sassawa by conducting air strikes because of lack of aviation fuel to propel fighter jets to the location to dislodge Boko Haram insurgents.

I have also been intimated that the Air Force component of the counter-insurgency operations had their personnel at battlefront grumbling over unpaid two months salaries and allowances, which you know could dampen their morale.

Hon. Minister, this posturing is very sadistic and has either dramatized to Nigerians your insensitivity in the handling of Defence budgets as national emergencies or lack of understanding of the operations of our military in such special engagements.

I consider this as extreme official negligence, steeped in callous and condemnable tactlessness. It seems to me you don’t believe or want to understand the cardinal objectives of safeguarding and protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, which is the responsibility of government the world over.

Hon. Minister, the failure of troops to overrun insurgents plotting an attack on Nigerian people and the military in the Sassawa incident is not as a result of the paucity of funds, but your laxity and wrong perception of defense budgets as just another item of expenditure.

The voted funds are within reach but you contemptuously holed it in the vaults of the finance ministry for reasons best known to you and your surrogates.

I dare say, this is the height of indifference to President Buhari’s anti-terrorism campaigns; it exposes the revival of sabotaging instincts of some demigods in the system.

And it is everything about the insensitivity and haughtiness of key civilian players in the counter-insurgency war who have relinquished their roles in supporting the Nigerian military in effectively combating terrorism.

I wish to remind you that winning the war against terror in Nigeria is not the sole responsibility of the military alone. It is the responsibility of everyone and everybody, including you, to actively play your part.

Your deliberate refusal to perform a simple official duty as elementary as the release of funds to NAF at this auspicious time has caused us sorrows and grief. The consequences of your sadistic neglect was the defeat we suffered in that encounter.

By my reckoning, your failure to release funds to the military for counter-insurgency operations has portrayed you as a masked member of this cabal, exploiting every avenue to truncate the progress of the Buhari regime on security.

Are you not touched that the Nigerian military is starved of funding in the battlefield to the extent it cannot even pay NAF personnel on the battlefield salaries and allowances, leading to loud murmurs?

Is it not a shame to you that NAF could not fund operational logistics in the battlefield because you withheld their budgetary votes?

Do you know your action placed Nigerians and Nigerian troops at the mercy of terrorists for butchering and indeed, responsible for the blood of patriots spilled at the Forward Base at Sassawa?

Kemi Adeosun, this is an unpatriotic decision and a disservice to your country, a nation you serve at a very high capacity.

Therefore, Madam Minister, I see no urgency or any cogent reason, so compelling for you to ignore this national emergency by your continued withholding of funding for our Military. You have no moral or official grounds to constitute a major setback in the war against terrorism in Nigeria.

This is really unfortunate, to say the least! It beats my imagination as to whether you are pricked by the gravity of what has happened. Are you even aware of the seriousness of the insurgency?

Are you this oblivious of the fact that Nigeria is in a state of emergency with terrorism? Do you know that virtually every day, a soldier is either killed or wounded and innocent civilians are killed or pushed into pains and sorrows from suicide bombings?

But before you bite what you cannot chew, let me remind you quietly that it is the sacred obligation of every Nigerian to support the counter-terrorism war, especially those in leadership positions.

No one is an exemption here. It means all arms of government; party or religious affiliations are at war with Boko Haram.  People like you who erroneously think that the military or any particular arm of the security service is in an isolated war with terrorists are on a wild goose chase.

Lastly, Madam, it must not escape your sight that you have contributed immensely in shedding the blood of the innocent because the victory of every adventure on earth is decided by the policies and actions of those who stay in the comfort of their homes to sustain it.

Please stop shedding the blood of these innocent patriots, by releasing the funds. Inevitably, yourself and the veiled turncoats must make haste to perform the necessary acts of contrition before the blood of the innocent, killed in that terrorist attack at Sassawabegins begin to haunt you! Thank you, Ma!"

Rapist On The Loose: Nigerian lady calls out man who sexually assaulted her

Eurel Nwafor is looking for justice after Tony Ekwerekwu raped and molested her

A Nigerian lady who was raped and assaulted by a man has called him out after all her attempts to get justice has failed.

A 21-year-old Nigerian lady, Eurel Nwafor, has taken to the social media to call out a man whom she claimed raped her in August and all efforts to get justice has proven abortive because of the man's position in the society.

Nwafor who posted the open accusation on her Instagram page with the handle @Yurells, said the man, Tony Obosi Ekwerekwu, a businessman at the Alaba International Market in Lagos, had, on August 26, 2017, led thugs to storm her office at the market, beat her up, tore her clothes and raped her multiple times.

She started the post this way:

"What was done to me is inhumane and should not happen to anyone again.'

She then went on to narrate how Ekwerekwu led the thugs to her office and molested her while boasting that he would surely get away with the rape since he has the means to buy off the police.

This is how she narrated the whole episode:

“My name is Nwafor Eurel. On August 26, 2017, I was sexually defiled by a particular man, Mr. Tony Obosi Ekwerekwu who is also a murderer and all efforts to bring this man to justice has proved abortive because the man keeps bribing police officers at all the police stations I took the case to.

Pulse Nigeria Poll: Readers say Betty should move on with her life

44% of Pulse Nigeria Poll say Betty should forget Desmond and move on with her life as she would meet a man deserving of her.

Betty thought she had met her Mr. Right when Desmond came into her life. She had dreamed of getting married to him and growing old together.

He seemed to be the right man for her and she felt her dreams would be fulfilled soon, especially as they had started planning their wedding.

But few weeks to the great day, Desmond struck Betty a great blow that shattered her life and shook her faith in men.

Will she survive this betrayal?

Read her story here:

"My name is Betty, a 28-year-old lady living and working in Lagos. I have a very sad story to tell, a story of betrayal of the highest order, a story of heartbreak and a story that I believe other ladies should learn from.

I am yet to get out of the shock following how a man I loved with the whole of my heart and hoped to spend the rest of my life with, dealt with me, shattered my world and made me the laughing stock in my family and among my friends.

You won't believe that two months to our supposed wedding, while I was planning seriously to it and my family had put in so much money, time and energy into it, Desmond dealt me the worst blow anyone can ever imagine.

ALSO READ: "Morning Teaser: 'My fiance sent me his invitation card a month to our wedding'"

After dating Desmond for four years, I thought I had finally found my Mr. Right, the man I would build my home with, grow old together and watch our children grow into adults. I loved Desmond so much and could lay down my life for him.

In fact, my friends were surprised because I never showed so much commitment in past relationships. Many of them said I should slow down and mask my feelings for him but I was past caring.

For me, Desmond was the man and I would gladly take a bullet for him. In the good times, Desmond also, or let me say, pretended to also love me madly. He gleefully introduced me to all his family members, friends, colleagues and I had access to anyone that mattered to him.

I never believed that any man is capable of hiding some damning secrets because I was always with Desmond, especially as our wedding date was drawing near.

I often marvel at the way the master gamer managed to hide everything from me till two months to our supposed wedding when I got home from work to meet a wedding invitation card on my table.

I saw Desmond's handwriting on the card and I thought one of his friends or cousins was wedding and wondered why he did not tell me on time to get prepared. I made a mental note to get mad at him for not informing about the wedding on time.

I opened the card and promptly lost balance, becoming dizzy and almost passed out. I sat down on the couch, and the pictured stared at me yet again. There was my Desmond with Itunuoluwa whom he had introduced to me as his cousin who was based in the United States.

Their wedding was scheduled for two weeks before we were supposed to have mine. I thought this was one of Desmond's practical jokes but the accompanying note inside the invitation card said otherwise.

Desmond first apologized for not telling me on time, for leading me on and asking me to forgive him for hurting me. He went on to say that he and Itunu had been scheduled to get married before she traveled to the USA and they had to put the wedding on hold till she could facilitate his papers.

And now that everything has been set, they would be traveling to the US after they had a secret Registry wedding in Lagos a week earlier.

I was numb and tried to call his number but it was switched off. I managed to get a cab to his house only to find out that he had moved away some days earlier.

I tried to get his friends to give me an explanation but none of them was willing to say a thing until Gab decided to spill the bean.

Today, instead of looking forward to my big day, I am sitting here mourning a man I loved like my life. Thanks to my sisters who have rallied around me and made sure I don't do anything silly to myself.

But the damage has been done and I doubt if I can ever come to love or trust any man ever again.

Betty."

The teaser for the day was:

What would you advise Betty to do in this situation?

How Nigeria voted:

Betty should move on and forget Desmond - 44%

Betty should be thankful she did not get married to the cheat - 35%

Betty should lay a curse on Desmond for hurting her that much - 15%

Betty should battle Desmond spiritually - 6%

Morning Teaser: 'My wife is carrying my brother's pregnancy'

This depressed man needs advice fast

Uzo is in a very serious dilemma after his own younger brother, Azu, snatched his wife and their family is in full support because he is rich.

"Dear Pulse,

My name is Uzochukwu, a 36-year-old married man, or I should say, one-time married man, because I have lost my wife to my younger brother who is a rich businessman based in Malaysia.

I got married to Adaeze about five years ago without a child and we had always looked up to God for a fruit of the womb but though she is now pregnant, the pregnancy does not belong to me and our family want me to keep quiet about the shameful act of my brother, Azu, because he is rich and is the one taking care of the family.

Azu had always been the black sheep in the family but all his sins were forgotten after he managed to travel out of the country to Asia and got involved in drug dealing and Internet fraud.

Suddenly, Azu became the reference point with everyone putting him as the benchmark. Even though everyone knew his money was not legal, no one cared as long as he was sending the money down.

After he came back home two years ago and built a mansion for our parents and sank some boreholes and constructed roads in our community, Azu was given a chieftaincy title and celebrated like a king.

When he came home early this year, he bought so many gifts for my wife and gave her a lot of money to set up a business. Suddenly, Adaeze began singing his praises, often making special meals for him anytime he visited.

She would cook and take to his hotel and would stay behind till late at night when he would bring her back home. I did not suspect anything untoward as I thought my own brother was just being nice to my wife.

Little did I know that he had seduced her and they were sleeping together regularly till he left and a month later, she announced that she was pregnant.

I was over the moon with the news and began preparations for the birth of our first child but my joy was shortlived when I was summoned to the village by our family elders.

When I got home, they told me that Azu had called to tell them that the pregnancy Adaeze was carrying belonged to him and that he would pay me any amount to let go of my wife for him.

I was shocked at the manner the elders told me and their insistence that I forget about my wife as Azu was ready to get married to her.

I was dumbfounded and could not say anything but when I got back to Lagos, I asked Adaeze if what they told me was the truth and she confirmed that Azu was responsible for her pregnancy.

Now, he has made plans to get her to travel to Malaysia to be with him. As we speak, she has left my house and has been staying with her sister while waiting for her papers to be ready for her to leave.

My brother even had the guts to call me to threaten me when I told him I would fight him to the last drop of my blood. He said he was willing to pay me but that he has changed his mind and I should do my worst.

I have vowed to make sure Azu, Adaeze and my family suffer for the pains they have caused me, even if it will take my life.

Uzo."

Dear readers, we have heard stories of betrayal but this is the top of it all. On Morning Teaser today, we want you to tell Uzo what to do.

Sweet Death: See faces of married lovers who died after sex in Lagos

Lukman Olayinka and Nse Nnena are now inseparable in death

There has been a new and interesting update on the dead married lovers who were found inside a car in Lagos while having sex.

There is an update on the married secret lovers who were found dead inside a vehicle in the Ogba area of Lagos State on Sunday, October 29, 2017, with their photographs and possible cause of their deaths while autopsy reports are being awaited.

According to an exclusive report by City Rovers, the lovers who have been identified as Olowo Lukman Olayinka and Nse Promise Nnena, lived in the same compound owned by Olayinka's father while he was also a close friend of Nnena's husband.

This is how City Rovers reported the update:

"The early hours of Sunday, the 29th of October, 2017, witnessed a mild drama around Abisogun Leigh Street in Ogba, Ikeja area of Lagos, where two supposedly lovers, Olowo Lukman Olayinka and Nse Promise Nnena, were found dead inside a Toyota Corolla car.

The man and his alleged mistress, said to be a married woman with kids, were believed to be engaging in sex when the sad incident occurred.

But, according to the new information gathered, the lovers may not have died of voodoo or exhaustion as many have been peddling since the unholy discovery was made.

A new finding, however, revealed that the faulty Air Conditioner in the car may have been the cause of the death of the alleged lovers.

Findings reveal that if the mechanical functions of the car are not up to standard, the chances of a leakage of the car’s exhaust into the vehicle’s cabin while a person is snoozing could increase the risk of suffocation as it would decrease the oxygen level inside the car.

The main thing to watch out, we gathered, is the accumulation of carbon monoxide which can be caused by a leak from the exhaust.

Carbon Monoxide is noted to be poisonous to the blood, but an increase in CO levels in the car could actually compromise the amount of oxygen reaching the blood.

This, in turn, results in the blood carrying more carbon monoxide which ultimately leads to a shock or in severe cases sudden death.

In fact, even in the case of a car with a well-working AC system, the air circulation in closed spaces can be compromised. Even if the air circulates in and out of the car, it’s still not enough for someone breathing air in a closed space.

Additionally, some of the air gets entrapped in the circulation process, thus causing the level of carbon monoxide to increase and the oxygen level to decrease.

Although the duo were reported to have driven to an area behind the Nigeria Institute of Journalism [NIJ], to engage in sex, however, contrary to the belief that she was happily married, the husband was about dissolving the marriage and tomorrow is the new date for the court to hear the divorce matter further.

The young Romeo on the other side worked with the licensing office and he is well known around the area he met his death.

It was passers-by that saw them, in the car with the engine still running with the air conditioner still blowing indicating they did not die of suffocation."

This is not the first time an animal will give birth to young ones with human features in the country. In 2016, such strange birth was recorded in the Mararaba community in Taraba State after a goat delivered a kid that had a human face, leaving the residents in a state of horror.

Rock Fans: Why are these group of people considered weird?

A rock fan with a gothic outfit at Rocktoberfest 2017.

Rock fans are perceived as eccentric beings with an interest different from popular choice.

Assumptions, largely untrue is one of the help the public has employed in a bid to understand the whole idea of rock music and its listeners - unfriendly looking individuals with a gothic appearance.

They are folks with eccentric interests who have often restricted themselves to songs with a heavy sound of an electric guitar and a form of expression that makes an African aunt say "this is not a child of God," but you can never find them dancing to 'One corner'.

The idea of rock is quite complicated yet simple I must add. Intricacies associated with it is what has encouraged most people to avoid it mainly because it cannot be fathomed. Only a certain type of mind can relate to the inspiring part of one's soul that is rock.

A rough analysis of how not so common rock fans are (not based on any known statistics) in a setting will put the number at maybe two individuals in 50. The first person is the main follower of rock music while the other subject is one who doesn't actively patronize rock music but is closely in connection with someone who does.

ALSO READ: Rock fans can literally dress to kill

Rock fans are people most likely to be found in the corner of a room calmly seated with an earphone plugged to the ears, wearing a look depicting a lack of enthusiasm concerning what is happening in their environment.

They tend to appreciate things from an intellectual angle and often have the feeling of a race that is fading away due to a decline in their community. Young people between the ages 10 to 17 who patronize rock music are most likely going to be loners in the schools.

Their inability to connect with others who are engrossed in general interests has ensured that they stay glued to themselves giving them an arrogant demeanor but that is not necessarily the case.

In Nigeria, rock fans have found a way to connect with each other. The availability of digital communication platforms like WhatsApp has made that a seamless affair - they can easily engage themselves even when they are not having a hangout at the beach or an exclusive location planned by their contemporaries.

The annual rock music festival Rocktoberfest is an example of a place where one can come across rock fans in their multitude. This is where you will find them in their happy and carefree state as they open up in the company of like-minds.

These people are actually your average folks. They fall in love, help the needy, pay tithes in church and even have corporate jobs - factors that prove that they are 50 tonnes more than their appearance.

You can pretty much start a conversation with them about anything but steer clear talking about music because rock is just about the only thing they will rather relate to.

Barcelona four points clear in La Liga but still have plenty of work to do

With Real Madrid eight points off the pace, the FC crew debate whether they have any chance to catch Barcelona in La Liga. Sometimes you need a little luck, and a little (OK, a lot of) Lionel Messi doesn't hurt either. Athletic Bilbao away aren't the fearsome proposition they once were, but they came out firing against a Barcelona team that seemed to sleepwalk in patches. Marc-Andre ter Stegen made more big saves than you would want him to have to make and it took a moment of magic (a collective one, but Messi's contribution was more magical than most) to break the ice and settle the nerves. Even then, Bilbao hit the...

Big Shaq: Who is the comedian that has the world saying 'mans not hot'?

Big Shaq (Michael Dapaah)

Big Shaq is the creation of Ghanaian comedian Michael Dapaah.

By now you should have heard the freestyle.

I'm talking about the 'mans not hot' freestyle that has the hilarious "The ting goes skrrrahh/ Pap pap ka ka ka" bars. The Fire In The Booth freestyle was released on August 29, 2017, has been watched 4.9 million times.

The Big Shaq freestyle was so popular that the man behind the character Michael Dapaah released it as a track and shot a music video for it.

The 'Mans Not Hot' video has gained 12 million views since its October 25, 2017, release. To say that the freestyle is a phenomenon at this point is an understatement. At a wedding reception in Lagos, Nigeria, a couple and their friends recited the lyrics on the dance floor.

It's not every day that a comedian drops a funny freestyle that becomes a worldwide hit. Before MC Shaq graced 'Fire In The Booth', Roll Safe, a hilarious wannabe character came to drop his own bars.

Played by Nigerian Kayode Ewumi, the freestyle had more views than MC Shaq's with 9.6 million views. Roll Safe's freestyle was a national hit riding off the character's web series. However, his was not a global sensation.

Who is Michael Dapaah and how did he get the world into reciting UK slangs?

Dapaah was born in January 1991 in the United Kingdom. He grew up in Croydon.  In 2008, he took a short course at the National Youth Theater. He would later graduate with a degree in  Theatre, Film and Television Studies from Brunel University.

Michael Dapaah would flip his talent for humour into an online following with his online skits. Encouraged by the positive feedback, Dapaah would launch a YouTube series called #SWIL.

#SWIL stands for Somewhere In London. In the web series, Dapaah plays four hilarious characters.

These characters are Dr Ofori is the Uber driver/relationship expert, MC Quakez, a rapper of little talent, Patrick Clover, a corrupt community officer and MC Shaq, the self-acclaimed road man with no street credentials.

As far as YouTube series is, the first season of #SWIL was a success. It got over 1 million views in its first season, None of the videos did less than 200,00 views.

"I’m very observational in my comedy and what I create with the characters that I’m blessed to play. I don’t believe comedy needs to be offensive, and I don’t believe it needs to be a mockery of anything" he tells Fader in October 2017.

"In all my content I don’t really swear or use profanity, because I believe comedy can just be pure.

"I try to find the balance of taking what I've observed or what I think is going to be funny, and portraying it in a way which relates to a mass audience. You've got to remember, the characters that I play? They’re some people’s actual lives" he further says.

His parents might have not initially liked the idea of him being a comedian but these days Michael Dapaah is known by the likes of DJ Khaled and co. They definitely won't be mad at that.

"I’m more overwhelmed — not surprised — by the reception globally. Since the end of the last year, we've had a strong U.K. following, so we expected it to do well here" says the Ghanaian-British act.

The next thing for Dapaah is to do a proper comedy stand up show for his fans. While he is at that, he shouldn't forget that the world wants to see MC Shaq and his other characters again.

Face Of Evil: How policeman abducted 14-yr-old girl, raped her for days ... Ruptured private parts

The police officer, Barau Garba, is accused of abducting and raping a 14-yr-old girl

A police officer attached to the Anambra Police Command has been accused of abducting and raping a 14-year-old girl, rupturing her vagina in the process.

A concerned human rights activist and journalist, Comrade Alhassan Haruna Dambatta, has called on the Inspector General of Police to bring to book a police officer attached to the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly abducting a 14-year-old girl whom he turned into his sex slave.

Comrade Dambatta narrated how the rogue officer identified as Corporal Barau Garba, had abducted the girl who was sent on an errand by her father in the guise of helping her, only to keep her captive and repeatedly raped her till he ruptured her private parts.

In a post the journalist put up on his Facebook wall, the girl who is from the Northern part of the country, lives with her parents in Asaba, Delta State, was sent by her father to nearby Onitsha in Anambra State to buy something but on her way, she lost the money in a vehicle.

ALSO READ: "Crucify Him: Police Inspector in trouble for raping 15-yr-old girl at gunpoint"

As she was crying on the road trying to see if she could see the vehicle, Cpl. Garba came on the scene and being a Hausa person, convinced the girl to go with him on his motorcycle so he could take her home and pleaded with her father to forgive her.

Instead of playing the good Samaritan to the end, Cpl. Garba was said to have taken the girl to a location where he kept her for six days and repeatedly raped her till her vagina erupted.

It was only after the girl managed to use Cpl. Garba's phone to call her father that respite came her way but by then, the damage had been done but the twist in the case is that the Anambra Police Command has been foot-dragging on the case and even wants the father of the girl to let go of the case as they are both from the North.

Read what Comrade Dambatta posted:

"Abducted and raped for six days by a rogue Nigerian Policeman'

Maryam Yusuf is just 14-years-old, an indigene of Kano State, living with her parents in Asaba, Delta State. She does attend Islamic School in Cable area known as Hausa quarters in Asaba.

Maryam was sent by her father to Onitsha from Asaba on the 14th of October, 2017, to buy round cotton but unluckily for her, she lost the money while in transit.

During her efforts to identify the vehicle she boarded while standing by the roadside, she was approached by one Corporal Barau Garba [Mopol] with service number 275601 from MOPOL 7, Sokoto State, but on a special duty in Anambra State.

His team is attached to the Okpoko Police Divisional Headquarters in Onitsha. The rouge police corporal approached the teenage girl asking her what happened.

As the small girl explained to him how she lost her money in transit and her need to go back home, the policeman Barau Garba deceived her by asking her to join him on his motorcycle so that he could take her back home.

Instead of taking the teenage girl back home to her parents safely, this Nigerian police corporal decided to abduct her and took her to a temporary police base and locked her up in his room and maliciously raped her for six good days.

This policeman raped this teenage girl until her private ruptured. For those six agonizing days, innocent Maryam was begging him to take her home but he refused. His Waterloo reached its peak when on the 6th day, in the middle of the night, Maryam took his mobile phone and called her father to come to her rescue.

Maryam was taken to the Federal Medical Center in Asaba on the 25th of October, 2017, by a good Samaritan because the police in accord with the DPO of Okpoko Division are not forthcoming with her case.

They want to cover up the case, especially as they told the father that the issue has to be forgiven since they are all of the northern origin.

Attached here is the hospital card where innocent Maryam was taken to and the various tests were conducted; it was ascertained she was raped beyond human imagination and left with a ruptured vagina.

The IGP has to use a holistic approach to root out these bad eggs amongst the Nigerian police force.

Justice must be done here.

Female Mechanic: Sofela Ayotunde will change your thoughts of what women can do

When Sofela told her parents she wanted to become a mechanic, they lost it. Their reason; "this is not a woman's job".

How does one react when your teenage daughter, still oozing with the preppy aura of secondary school, decides that she will not be attending university? Shock? Pain? Surprise? Disappointment? The options are somewhat familiar.

But when Sofela Ayotunde told her parents the path she was towing, that she wanted to become an automobile engineer, they lost it, quite simply, they could not see it happening. “ My parents were like, no, no, no. You can’t do this.”, she remembers. Their reason was simple, “this is not a woman’s job”.

You can blame the limiting definitions of our culture, among other reasons, but in traditional African societies like Nigeria’s, gender roles are firmly established.

That patronising view of women as the paragons of care and love has been interpreted as making them suitable for 'stay-at-home' roles that involve caring for their children, their husbands and everybody else.

God forbid they dream of the definitive stuff, like work that can support a family or duties that task the mind and the body, roles traditionally left for the male gender, like being a mechanic.

Born in September 1993, Sofela must have enjoyed the same routines that we associate with young girls. But somewhere, somehow, from a young age, her attention shifted to the road and the vehicles that ply them.

As she matured, automobiles became her main interest, and then, a forceful passion, so much that, by the time she was leaving secondary school, she could think of very little else.

After my secondary school education, I have always been passionate about cars…”, Sofela says, “so I decided to join Automedics Training School, where they train about automobiles, how to diagnose them, how to repair them.

Her plans were elaborate; she would join spend a few years at the training school, before setting out as a certified auto mechanic. First, she had to tell her parents.

The African parent stereotype is based on many assumptions, many of them wrong. One of the most accurate, however, is the comfort they find in the familiar.

ALSO READ: Slaves passed these five stops on the Badagry Slave Route

Africa’s millennial generation has been exposed to a wealth of information, and by necessity, they feel the innate need to push down the walls that their culture has built around them. Doing this, though, often ignites conflicts between the radical youth and parents who believe that things should work a certain way, mostly because it is all they know.

In Sofela’s case, her parents were not ready to see their daughter sacrifice a bright future for a job that not even all men would be willing to pursue.

We had a lot of disagreements, we would quarrel.”, Sofela says of her parents'' reaction to her decision, “My parents were like, no, no, no. You can’t do this. This is not a female’s job, this is not something you should go to, I want you to go to university.

Somehow, Sofela showed an understanding of their perspective but more importantly, she chose to show them her decision was borne of passion, drive, not laziness.

It’s not a case of me not going to the university. I am not the kind of person that plays with my education but I don’t see myself sitting down in the normal kind of university for 4 years and then coming out, looking for a job, when I already have the passion to do something.”, she recalls telling them.

Soon enough, they reached a necessary compromise; they agreed that “I’d go ahead with the Open University, get my B.Sc and then I would do what I want to do.”, she recounts.

Since then, it’s been onward and forward.

I am studying computer science at the National Open University of Nigeria”, she says, “ (I’m) currently a 400 level student there. It has a lot to do with my job because nowadays you find cars are more computerized.

At work, she works with a team of young men who she supervises. The feeling of having a female head mechanic is strange to most of them.  and the irony and the absurd privilege and underestimation that her gender can bring is not lost on Sofela herself.

Being that I’m female gives me an edge over the male counterparts because they are surprised and they are like; ‘let me give it a try, let me just see how she is going to be able to handle my car’”, she says.

Straddling the line between school and work also has its own nuances; “It was not easy, it’s still not easy because I am combining school and work. But then, it’s what I love doing and even if you wake me up by 2 o’clock in the morning, It’s still what I love doing.”, she says.

ALSO READ: Mama Dey Go is Ojodu-Berger's angelic traditional bone-healer

In her love for her craft and the relative comfort that progress brings, Sofela has reached a point where she is at peace with herself. Yet, she is careful enough to understand how society may view her work, particularly her female contemporaries, friends and otherwise.

The lifestyle of other girls is not really a problem to me”, she says of how she deals with expectations of what her lifestyle should be, “… because those who are my friends know what I do and they appreciate what I do because not many girls can actually venture into this type of career.

It’s a dirty job, I must put it like that and it doesn’t really give you time to say ‘okay, I’m leaving the house in the morning, let me make-up, let me do this, let me do that’. But you can still look good while you are doing the job. So, peer pressure is not a problem for me.

As she looks on while the Automedics four-post machine lifts the car, it is difficult to see Sofela this happy anywhere else.

The reality of the life she chose is unfolding before her and with her mechanic’s shirt and the skills she has garnered in the past few years, one can only be excited for how one young woman is using her passion to tear down gender stereotypes.

Self Defence: 'I killed my uncle when he tried to rape me' - Murder suspect

Tina Rebecca Sunday said she killed her uncle in self defence when he wanted to rape her

The police in Enugu State have arrested a young girl who killed her uncle when he attempted to rape her in his house.

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old lady, Tina Rebecca Sunday, for allegedly killing her uncle, Friday Matthew, who tried to rape her before fleeing from the scene.

Punch reports that Sunday, a native of Ikot Udobang in Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, killed the sex-starved Matthew when he attempted to rape her at his home at Ezilo Street, Independence Layout, Enugu.

The State Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], SP Ebere Amaraizu who confirmed the incident in a statement, said Sunday had been living with the uncle and he had sexually molested her several times before the day she put up a resistance which led to his death.

According to SP Amaraizu, the suspect claimed that the 48-year-old uncle was fond of making sexual advances to her which she declined.

"The girl disclosed that on the day of the incidence at about 8.30 pm, she was lying down expecting the deceased’s 10-year-old son, Thankgod Friday, whom she had she sent to buy sugar to return when her uncle thought that she was sleeping and tried to rape her.

The girl then got up instantly and in a bid to resist the uncle, kicked him on his scrotum which angered the deceased who consequently became violent."

SP Amaraizu went further to state that as the deceased was struggling with the girl, she headed for a stone near the door which she used in hitting his cheek.

“The suspect further disclosed that following the hit of the stone on the cheek of the uncle, he fell down and became unconscious and later died.”

The PPRO also quoted the girl as saying:

“It was not my intention to kill him as I never intended to do so although he has disturbed me sexually several times.”

SP Amaraizu noted that when the child of the deceased returned to meet the lifeless body of his father, the suspect ordered him not to shout so as not to attract attention, promising to take care of the young boy.

“She immediately locked up the house and went away with the boy and dropped him at one of their aunt’s place and disappeared.

This lady wants us to believe that the security man she employed 10 years ago was a ghost as he had died 20 years earlier.

This is another story that can best be described as stranger than fiction but this lady swears it is true and it actually happened to her.

According to the lady who posted the story on her Twitter account with the name Brand Specialist, she only discovered that the security man she has had or 10 years was actually a ghost who had died in his place of birth, Cotonou, Benin Republic, about 20 years ago.

The lady with the handle @LatwinsKoncepts, left many people in shock and disbelief after she narrated how she made the strange discovery after the man fell ill and she had to go to Cotonou to inform his people, only to be told he was long dead.

@LatwinsKoncepts said she made the shocking discovery when she arrived Cotonou to tell the guard's family members that he has been seriously ill for three and that they should come for him but the family members of the man were equally distressed family members told her the man had died and was buried years ago.

"My security man who had been with me since 2007, was ill 3 days ago. We went to go tell and his member at Cotonou, only to find out he died 20 years ago.

When we got there, they didn’t mention anything but when we got back to Nigeria, he slept and didn’t wake again only to go back to Cotonou to tell them that he was dead, and they responded they knew he was gonna die because he died at Cotonou 20 years ago.

Looks like am seeing Africa Magic. Lol, no! Funny at times how he sleeps off and I had to open the gate myself. Now, I will start believing some stuff from Africa Magic; I just witnessed one. I am a living witness; we stayed together for 10 solid years.

They [his family] didn’t mention anything; they only bought gin and poured it on a grave and when we went back to tell them that he was dead, they said he died 20 years ago. We buried him here in Nigeria as they said they couldn't bury him twice in their city.

He wasn’t sick. Normally, most of us employ these people with guarantor. He got a guarantor. From the guarantor, we accommodated him as they use to drink gin and farm together. They became friends."

Sofela Ayotunde: This female mechanic will change your ideas of what women can do

Dating: Women shoot their shots and get surprising answers

Ladies it is time to shoot your shot

Women try their hands at asking men out on Twitter.

If the tables were reversed, how would women shoot their shot at their crushes?

This social experiment was carried on Thursday, October 26, 2017. Initiated by relationship blogger Oloni, hundreds of women took the bold step by asking men to go out on a date with them.

"Ladies ask that guy you fancy out on a date and tweet me a screenshot of his response" she tweeted from her account which for some reason no longer exists on Twitter.

Anyway, ladies started posting screenshots in no time and they were hilarious. A lot of women got positive responses from their crushes. In no time, they have had dates planned or scheduled.

Others were not that lucky. Some got rejected while others found out that their crush was in a relationship. You see the screenshots below;

The chance of you shooting your shot and getting your crush is quite high. According to popular online dating service OK Cupid, women who start conversations with the opposite sex are  2 ½ times more likely to get a quick response.

While the stats are positive, it is still uncommon for Nigerian women to make the first move. Many women in Nigeria prefer for men to take charge and let men be men. They also believe that making the first move would make them look desperate.

Another reason for women not leading the way is that they are scared of rejection. Most men have gotten used to rejection from the opposite sex but for women, it is still a new ball game.

Not everyone can take 'no' for an answer. To save themselves the embarrassment, they prefer to allow the man to take the lead by asking them out.

Yes, roles are changing but it would be a while before we see women shooting their shots at the men they fancy. Many still prefer to be seduced by men rather than the other way round.

A friend of the couple had posted their photos on Facebook and congratulated them on the success of the wedding:

"Happy married life to the latest couple in town, Mr. and Mrs. Kufre Ukpong. I wish you the best in your marriage."

Shortly after that, the British wife who also has a Facebook account with the name Gill Ukpong fired a response to the post:

“That man is my husband!”

Many Facebook users who did not seem to believe Gill, began asking questions, wondering why she would just come out of the blues to make the post which they thought was in a bad light.

Gill replied further:

"Look you can say anything u like; ask my husband why he has not divorced me for this marriage. Ask him why he cannot and will not go it. Go on.

Yeah, the second marriage is nothing no amount of money will make it legal," Gill said, making reference to the fact that she would do everything possible to make sure the marriage is nullified and not stand.

Revealing more facts about Kufre to drive home her point that they were legally married, Gill posted photos of their wedding and their marriage certificate.

In a Facebook exchange with some Nigerians who still did not believe Gill, she described Kufre as a 'bloody liar, narcissist and bigamist' who also impregnated another white woman before he married her.

Gill further made allusions to the fact that the new wife, Idongesit, knew about her marriage with Kufre but still went ahead to marry him even when she knew they were not officially divorced.
