Human Trafficking: DSS rescue abducted baby who has been sold 3 times

Police arrest man who stole and sold child for N75,000

The suspect who is a father-of-three is alleged to have stolen Chinwendu on December 28, 2017, barely weeks after moving into the compound where the family lived.

A seven-month-old baby identified as Chinwendu Ekiri, has been rescued after being abducted from her parents’ home in Rivers State by a neighbour.

According to the reports, Chinwendu was reportedly found 114 days after her abduction.

New Telegraph reports that the parents of the victim, Emeka and Rejoice Ekiri, alleged that their baby was abducted by one Innocent Ndubuisi, who was their neighbour.

They explained that Ndubuisi disappeared after the abduction of their daughter.

The suspect who is a father-of-three is alleged to have stolen Chinwendu on December 28, 2017, barely weeks after moving into the compound where the family lived.

Emeka said stated that he and his wife are moved and short of words on how to express how they feel about Chinwendu's rescue.

He said, “My daughter was sold and resold for different prices ranging from, N450, 000, N600, 000 and N850, 000. According to the DSS operatives, Ndubuisi, who stole her, contacted one Shadrach.

"This Shadrach got in touch with a woman in Onuimo, Imo State. She paid Ndubuisi N450, 000. While sealing the deal with Shadrach and the woman, Ndubuisi equally threw in his handset. It was through that handset that DSS operatives were able to arrest Shadrach. Shadrach took the operatives to the woman, who then took them to Aba, where she had already sold Chinwendu to another woman called Esther for N600, 000.”

Emeka also added that following Esther's arrest at Elele, in Port Harcourt, she too had sold Chinwendu to another woman in Ogoja, Cross Rivers State for N850, 000.

Emeka said: “The most important thing is that my daughter is back and unharmed.

"I’m grateful to God and the DSS operatives, who worked hard in finding and rescuing my daughter. We first reported the matter to the police, but they were busy extorting us, without putting efforts in finding Chinwendu. It was operatives of DSS that directed us to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP)," he added.

Police rescue 2 kids from human traffickers

The Kaduna State Police Command said it had rescued two minors, one Nasirudeen Mahmud(5), and Zainab Umar also (5) and handed them over to their parents in Kaduna.

He said the victims were rescued on Oct. 7 from the traffickers, who were found with two international passports and two birth certificates with the children’s details.

“This indicates likelihood of flying the victims to unknown foreign country,” he said.

The police also paraded three other suspected kidnappers who kidnapped Alhaji Audu Hairi at the Kaura Market, Giwa Local Government Area in July.

“The victim was taken to an unknown forest where he was brutally handled. All the suspects confessed to the allegation, “ he said.

The Police spokesman said three armed robbers were also arrested on Oct. 2, at Birnin Gawri following a tip off.

He said exhibits recovered from the suspects include N146,925 cash, three cutlasses, six gallons of palm oil and 14 cell phones.

Usman said as soon as investigation was completed, all the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.

He, however, appealed to members of the public to continue to cooperate with the police by giving them useful information on activities of criminals in the state for prompt action. He said the victims were rescued on October 7 from the traffickers, who were found with two international passports and two birth certificates with the children’s details.

Too Extreme? Provoked woman cuts bae's private part for leaking sex tape

A gardening scissors did the required job for a woman who became furious after boyfriend released their sex tape.

Brenda Barattini, who is being held in jail, admitted injuring her boyfriend who shared their secret with friends.

In the Argentine city of Cordoba, a 26-year-old woman, Brenda Barattini, has cut off the private part of her boyfriend, Sergio Fernandez, alleged to have leaked a privately made sex tape.

40-year-old Fernandez, reportedly saw a major portion of his sexual organ cut off with a gardening scissors after showing the explicit video content to their friends.

Health officers found it difficult to rejoin a severed penis following the attack, Fox News reports.

“I cut his penis but not completely: I injured him. It wasn’t complete: I injured him,” says Brenda Barattini in an interview she had in jail.

Blood sisters threaten to release Reverend Sister's sex tape

Two women of the same blood, Ngozi Nnabude, 46, and Uchenna Agagwaonye, 40, have been apprehended for blackmailing a Reverend Sister, Mary Okolo.

Lagos State Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal, explained that the suspects carried out the act in order to intimidate the nun who reportedly has a strict personality.

According to the New Telegraph, the pair threatened to release a video showing her as she had sexual intercourse with a Reverend Father.

Edgal confirmed this in a statement.

“They conspired to put her under constant fear of imminent danger.

"When the threat to maim, kidnap, kill and expose her unfounded secret sex life was continuous, Okolo reported the matter to the police.

"Investigation revealed that Agagwaonye’s job was to monitor Okolo and pass information gathered to her sister, Ngozi, who now called the Rev. Sister to tell her movement.

"She used to tell the nun such threat messages like: ‘I can see you, you are putting on this and type of clothes and shoe, you are in so and so place, you can’t hide from us and you will be killed soon,"
says the police commissioner.

One of the suspects, Agagwaonye, reiterated that the hardship endured under the Reverend Sister's firm hands encouraged a desire to blackmail her.

The goal was to make her pedal down.

“I have been teaching in that school for over 18 years. But Rev. Sister Okolo just joined us recently. I run a part time programme with University of Lagos.

"Before I went for leave, I went through the normal application process, but when I resumed, she deducted N12,000 from my salary.

"Six months later, we had an argument and I was given a letter of suspension.

"All these didn’t make me happy.

“I don’t want to kidnap or kill her. I sent the messages to her so that she would calm down on her wickedness. I don’t even have any sex tape, but the laptop repairer whom she gave her laptop to fix, has video clips of her nudity,” Uchenna Agagwaonye revealed during an interrogation.

Change Of Fortune: Codeine syrup condemns young man to abattoir scavenger in Maiduguri

A Nigerian youth had his life deteriorate following substance abuse.

An unfortunate turn of events saw a hard working young man become a shadow of himself.

The life of young man has seen a rapid decline due to an addiction to codeine.

A Facebook user, Mohammed Ciroma, expressed this in a post shared on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

In Ciroma's post captured a bare-chested individual who was seen walking a street in Maiduguri while wearing a tattered pants.

"This young man is at the abattoir in maiduguri. He was a hard working fellow, before becoming a victim of drug abuse, namely, codeine syrup.

"From making a clean living to a life of scavenging as the result of a drug abuse," writes Ciroma.

His poor physique announced a need for an urgent care.

A well prepared meal seem a good way to start for the challenged man who had things going well for him until he grew an addiction for codeine.

Rehab centers now home to Nigerian youths addicted to codeine

The BBC's "Africa Eye" explored the wide use of codeine in Nigeria following a visit to a rehab center located in the northern part of the country.

This was captured in its video report titled "Sweet Sweet Codeine".

The clip introduced individuals who have lost the power of self control due to an addiction to the drug substance often patronised by youths.

A party or hangout is never complete without the presence of the savage guest, codeine.

The hazardous effect on people who have fallen hard to an uncontrolled use of the intoxicant is perhaps why some were resigned to shackles as can be seen in the BBC documentary.

A common use of codeine in Nigeria will have found better justification if everyone was dealing with a daily cough problem but that is evidently not the case.

Though not specifically addressing the problem in Nigeria, American rapper, J Cole, who was hosted at a Lagos-held concert on Friday, April 27, 2018, called for caution in his recently released album, "KOD", while local musicians took a point-of-view bothering on amusement.

Unfortunate: Little kid shot dead during NDLEA Lagos Island drug raid

The police has requested for the presence of NDLEA officers who took part in a drug raid which led to the death of a student.

A secondary school student yet to be identified has been shot dead during a National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) raid on the Lagos Island.

The deceased, who studied at the Dolphin High School, Lagos Island, was killed on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.

Godwin Nsidieti, a security guard who works at the learning center was reportedly shot in the left eye according to a Punch News report.

"Two other victims, a civil servant and a man said to be a resident of Igunu Street, Nurudeen Animashaun, were also affected," according to Punch.

A group of NDLEA operatives had visited Tapa Street, Lagos Island, on the day of the tragedy in a bid to arrest drug peddlers but their plan went south following resistance from some youths who shot at them.

The brutal exchange of bullets soon led to the killing of the school kid as well as other casualties.

“Men of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad from Ikeja had earlier raided the community that day. No sooner had they left than the NDLEA men came in through Tapa Street in two Hilux vans.

“They were in mufti and some boys tried to chase them away. As they started shooting, they hurriedly wore their jackets with NDLEA inscribed on them.

“Before we knew what was happening, the school guard and a pupil had been felled by bullets. A civil servant and another man (Animashaun) also sustained injuries. The officials quickly entered their vans and ran away.

“We learnt that the pupil later died. The principal of Dolphin High School said the pupil was not known in the school. We have been trying to locate his address.

"The officials that perpetrated the act must be brought to book. They arrested two residents," a resident, Raphael, told Punch.

In response, the Lagos State Police has written to the NDLEA asking it to make available operatives who were involved in the raid that led to the killing of some Lagos Island residents.

This was confirmed by its Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti.

Drunk NDLEA officers stab man who tried to caution them

A fight between officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and civil servants has led to the death of a man, Samuel Koro-toe.

The deceased, an employee of the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, was stabbed to death while trying to caution drunk NDLEA reps who attended a party organised in celebration of the 40th-year anniversary of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).

The incident which occurred on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, was captured on camera according to Vanguard News.

In its report, the NDLEA officers described as aggressors, reportedly fired bullets in the air in response to an attempt to  correct their uncontrolled behaviour.

Koro-toe, who was caught up in the maze was stabbed with a machete leaving him dead at the Agege Local Government Area.

Science Students: Rehab centers now home to Nigerian youths addicted to codeine

Drug use in Nigeria has been celebrated in its local music but J Cole's "KOD" seem to take an opposite view.

The BBC's "Africa Eye" explored the wide use of codeine in Nigeria following a visit to a rehab center located in the northern part of the country.

These 3 cities are the epicenters of Nigeria's drug crisis

Regardless of what city you're in, nowadays it's nearly impossible to avoid reading, hearing or watching some bit of news with the words "drug abuse", "drug crisis", or more specifically, "tramadol" or "codeine" scribbled on the pages or muttered by a news host.

Nigeria's drug crisis (see what I was saying) has gradually grown more troubling as the government and most of society struggles to deal with the circumstances that have made young Nigerians prone to experimentation and drug abuse.

You've probably heard the story before.

Most of Nigeria's land border is non-existent, barely standing or bewildering in how porous the most guarded checkpoints can be if you know what to do.

ALSO READ: 5 reasons why young Nigerians are turning to illicit drugs

Drug regulation is poor. The youth are unemployed, disengaged and frustrated by a country that seems to have it in for them.

Naturally, some cities have proved more prone to the result of these factors, perhaps by way of an already present drug culture, crime or population.

Here are the 3 cities you are most likely to hear about when someone on the news mentions Nigeria and drug overdose in the same sentence.

(1) Lagos:

The city of sin, money and excellence, Lagos is usually ground zero for whatever social or cultural trends are picked up by youths across the country.

Like most of its so-called sister cities, the city's positioning as a commercial and entertainment hub, as well as its vibrant social and night life have made a hub for drug use for decades.

ALSO READ: Tramadol user loses his grip in Lagos

Nowadays, the biggest influence in the city is a culture it has created on its own; one that combines inspirations from American pop culture with its old history and one of the largest population of young people that any city can boast of.

In slums in Mushin and many of the city's most notorious inner communities, drug use is rife. Opioids like Tramadol are heavily abused and, no thanks to an absence of regulation, it is far too easy to get drugs, either from unregistered pharmacies or traders who pack an assortment in rectangular boxes.

On the other side of Third Mainland Bridge, more exotic designer drugs are the rave. You will find them at parties, in white lines on a young girl's palm in the club or in a needle in the arm of young professionals.

Someone once said drugs are almost legal in Lagos; one finds that it is difficult to contest with him.

(2) Kano:

Once the jewel of the North, Kano is now the centre of the codeine epidemic in the North of Nigeria.

The city is known as the cultural centre of the north, and while strong conservative values are the law, and alcohol is now sold or consumed in public, the youth are ripping paper packs and finding euphoria at the bottom of Tutolin bottles.

Drug dens are scattered all over the city.

ALSO READ: 5 key quotes from the Emir of Kano's interview with Financial Times

Here, a cocktail of drugs is a few conversations away and large groups of young men can be seen in most of these at any given time. A key factor is the opportunity in big numbers that make Kano a favourite of locally-based illegal drug manufacturers.

Kano has nearly 20 million people by some estimates; making it the most populated state, followed closely by Lagos. More than half of this population is below 30.

As with most Nigerian cities, Tramadol is the most commonly used drug and the demand is met with a steady, obscene supply.

In February, the Nigerian drug law enforcement agency, NDLEA, found a massive tranche of tramadol, estimated to be worth 19 million naira, hidden in cartons of Indomie instant noodles in Yola, ostensibly to be distrubuted from the city to Kano. Still, variety is still much available.

Drugs like methamphetamine are not often mentioned in conversations about drug abuse in Nigeria but arrests in Kano (as well as Lagos) suggest Nigeria may have its own share of meth labs in a manner that would make Breaking Bad's Walter White smile with pride.

In October 2017, the NDLEA arrested a 59-year old man with 25kg in ephedrine, a substance used in the manufacturing of amphetamines.

(3) Abuja:

If you know your way around a Nigerian city, odds are you can find opioid pills at a small pharmacy or more serious stuff with relative ease, but in Abuja, that's no the problem.

In Nigeria's capital city, the regular suppliers are a missing link, also discretion is immensely more important, so the drug culture there has evolved on terms that are all its own.

Earlier this year, a social media user shared photos he took on a walk through an Abuja neighbourhood. It showed endless ripped paper packs and empty bottles of cough syrup and empty sachets of Nigeria's favourite opioid, Tramadol.

Atrocity: “My husband slaughtered our three daughters” - Distressed lady

“How my Saudi husband slaughtered our three daughters” -Lady

Fatima Mohamid Khalil said her husband woke the children up early and when she enquired, he claimed the children’s grandfather was visiting and he needed the youngsters to be present and welcome him

A Nigerian woman who got married to a man from Saudi Arabia and gave birth to three beautiful daughters has lost all the children within some few minutes after her husband bloodily slaughtered them one dawn.

Fatima Mohamid Khalil said her husband woke the children up early and when she enquired, he claimed the children’s grandfather was visiting and he needed the youngsters to be present and welcome him.

The man then took the children to a different room.

She became worried and followed up after some few minutes to ascertain what was going on, and to her surprise, the husband had already killed two of the children.

She said all attempts to restrain the man from murdering the last one did not materialize. The man pushed her out and accomplished his mission.

The incident happened on Sunday in Al-Rawdah District, Makkah.

Fatima who herself lost her two parents since infancy told the Saudi Gazette that: “This was an unusual act, but when I asked him why, he said that his father was coming to visit and that his three daughters needed to say hello to their grandfather.”

She added: “I was shocked to see my middle daughter Rimaz in his hands soaked in her blood after he had slaughtered her with a knife. I tried to rescue her, but he pushed me away; I fell down. When I got up, he had already slaughtered our eldest and the youngest daughters.”

After the heartless act, Fatima said: “He went out as if nothing had happened. I started crying and neighbours came, but it was too late.”

The distressed mother also disclosed that the man had earlier asked her to go stay with her grandmother for a while, and she did.

She said the children were heard one day crying loudly and “our neighbours heard their cries and informed the police, who came and arrested him, but he was soon released on bail.

“He took me back to his apartment with our daughters the night of the incident. This was just a few hours before he committed his heinous crime.”

Reports say the man might be a drug addict, but it is suspected that he must have committed the act out of frustration.

Fatima said: “He did not pay the rent for three months and was indebted to our grocer by more than SR800.”

Dear Mother: Woman arrested after burning daughter with pressing iron

Ayo and Aishat Sheriff

Angered, the mother of the victim was reportely waiting for Aishat to return home, with a pressing iron already plugged.

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Ayo Sheriff, 30, for allegedly burning her 16-year-old daughter, Aishat Sheriff, on her hand and leg with a pressing iron.

The command is reportedly investigating the case of child abuse while Ayo is being held in police custody.

Instablog9ja reports that Aishat was given the sum of N500 by her boss with instructions to give someone N200 on her way home and use N50 as transport fare.

Aishat was reportedly meant to return with the N250 change the following day.

According to the reports, the victim failed to return the money and explained to her boss that her mother was with it.

The boss who's identity has been withheld, reportedly called Ayo, who allegedly denied any knowledge of the money.

This seems to have angered the mother of the victim who was waiting for Aishat to return home, with a pressing iron already plugged.

Accusing her daughter of being a disgrace to the family, Ayo assaulted Aishat with the hot iron.

The suspect will reportedly be charged to court tomorrow, Monday, April 30, 2018.

Dad burns daughter’s private parts, eyes, with iron

Also, a 45-year-old mechanic, Surakat Idowu, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, for allegedly using a hot pressing iron to burn the eyes and private parts of his five-year-old daughter because she poured faeces on the floor.

The incident which happened in the Ikotun area of the state, saw the little girl with a badly disfigured face and could damage her eyes if immediate medical attention is not provided for her.

It was gathered that Idowu who separated from the girl's mother in 2013, had been in the habit of brutalising the girl at his Kayode Toyeso Street, Liasu Road, Ikotun residence, and on the day of the incident, he had instructed her to empty faeces from a potty into the public latrine in the compound but in the process, the girl slipped and mistakenly poured the content of the potty on the floor.

This was said to have infuriated the mechanic who pounced on the nursery two pupil, beating her and not done with that, he removed the hot iron from where it was plugged and used it on the toddler's face and private parts.

A fellow tenant who witnessed the scene rushed down to the Ikotun Police Division and reported the case, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

Another neighbour who identified herself as Basirat, narrated how the incident happened:

“The mechanic had a quarrel with his wife and divorced her in 2013 when the girl was just two years old. On that day, he asked her to go and dispose of her faeces in a potty in a latrine at the backyard of the house. But the area was slippery and the girl fell, splashing the faeces on the floor.

The father became angry and got a hot iron. He began to beat her with the hot surface of the iron until the girl’s face became swollen. We tried to caution him, but he would not listen. That was how the matter got to the police.”

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Fatai Owoseni, has, however, directed that the case be transferred from the Ikotun Police Division to the Gender Unit at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, just as the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT), led by Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, is working with the Child Protection Unit of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, to get a shelter for the victim.

Father and daughter caught having sex, mother says I'm aware

The man’s sister in-law who had paid them a visit incognito caught him lying in bed while his daughter was shamelessly sitting on his manhood and they both were passionately enjoying the sex.

A public servant and his daughter shocked residents of the entire community of Mwangaza, Hola Town in Tana River County, Kenya when they were caught red-handed having sexual intercourse which looked clearly consensual.

The incident reportedly happened early this week and was posted by KNA on Facebook which was subsequently published by TUKO.co.ke on Thursday, April 26.

According to the report, the man’s sister in-law who had paid them a visit incognito caught him lying in bed while his daughter was shamelessly sitting on his manhood and they both were passionately enjoying the sex.

The woman then screamed out of surprise and attracted the attention of neighbours before she subsequently fainted.

The incestuous culprits then quickly dressed themselves up and tried to resuscitate the woman who became victim of a shameful circumstance.

When she finally gained consciousness, she called her sister and mother of the delinquent girl who had gone to pay visit to her parents out of town to narrate the incident to her.

However, to her utter surprise, the girl’s mother scolded her that she should mind her own business.

She was reported to have said that she has always been aware of the situation, but chose to protect her marriage by keeping quiet, knowing how violent her husband can get.

Apparent out of anger, the woman asked her sister: “Why do you want to destroy my marriage?”

Meanwhile, neighbours expressed disgust at the incident, with one of them saying: “The fact that it is the girl who was found on top of her father is reason enough to believe the lass had consented to her father’s lust.”

Caution! Any man who sleeps with me dies, 7 are gone already, but I need sex - Lady

Any man who sleeps with me dies, 7 are gone, but I need sex

She has threatened to start going round the various regions of Ghana and to have sex with any man who appears pleasing to her

A Ghanaian woman is seriously in distress over her inability to live with any man to whom she can be married and committed, because any man who has sex with her and subsequently sleeps with another woman dies mysteriously.

It may be recalled that early this year, the said unnamed lady shared her predicament with a relationship expert, David Papa Bondze-Mbir and it sent shivers down the spines of many people especially men who take delight in sleeping with any woman they come across.

For an unknown reason the lady’s story has resurfaced online and causing frenzy among social media users.

What is striking and intimidating in the lady’s story is the fact that she threatened to start going round the various regions of Ghana and begin to have sex with any man who appears pleasing to her, if no man is willing to stay with her alone without having anything to do with any other woman.

“Dave,

“I will be 38 years in July, 2017. And, I have been married, Three (3) times. I have Two (2) kids, with two different late husbands, whom I dearly loved.

“This is my story: when I was 18 years, I dated this gentleman, who was then, a Third-year, University Student, at Legon. I was in my final year at Senior Secondary School (SSS). He was my first love, and we had dated for just Five (5) months. We had so many dreams together – for our future.
He mysteriously died.

“I dated a married man, at age, 20, for just, Four (4) weeks. The first time we had sex at a hotel, he died in his home, the very next day.

“I didn’t date for a while, due to fear – until a friend at Church, proposed to me, four years later. I was 25 years old, when I first got married. Two (2) years into our marriage, he died one dawn, after making love to me. We had no kids.

“I moved to Canada, to further my education. I met this Nigerian Army guy, who showed interest in me. He married me, when I was 30 years old. He died when I was, Seven (7) months pregnant, with our first child.

“When I was 34, my third husband, a White Canadian Man, also married me. We had an argument one day, when I was Three months pregnant with our daughter. He was getting involved with his Ex wife, and apparently, they had had sex. He confessed to me, about sleeping with his Ex, and was asking for my forgiveness.

“Dave, I loved my husband very much, so I willingly forgave him that afternoon, and made passionate love to him, that very moment. He died in his sleep that afternoon.

“Since relocating to Ghana, two years ago, I decided never to date or marry again, however, I was getting horny a few times, so I hooked up with a colleague at work, for just a one night ‘something’. He died in the house of his girlfriend, a day after sleeping with me.

“As I write this letter to you, I am in Takoradi. I had to move from Accra, to a different City. I couldn’t stand the horror of my life. I met a guy at a night club, three weeks ago, whom I had a ‘fling’ with, at a hotel. I never saw or heard from him again, until yesterday, when I saw his obituary poster, pasted on the main gate, of the night club. He died, three weeks ago.

“Any man I sleep with, who just happens to sleep with another woman, dies after having sex with me.

“I am relocating to Accra, again, to finally settle. I may not marry or date anyone, until my death. However, I might need sex, every now and then. I want to know if there is any man, amongst your friends, who wouldn’t mind wanting to be intimate with only me, without any commitments?

“I just got a new job in Accra, so he wouldn’t have to worry about spending on me. I will take care of myself and the kids. He just shouldn’t have a girlfriend or a wife. He shouldn’t be a player. I don’t want to be responsible for the death of another man. All I need is one faithful man, who wouldn’t mind giving me pleasure.

“Else, I might have to travel to each Region, anytime I desire for sex, and hook up with any fine man I find attractive. I am currently chatting and texting with one Ghanaian parliamentarian, whom I suspect, is interested in me. He is a married man, and it was because of his connections that got me a job, and a place to stay in Takoradi. He is a good man, a fine lawyer. I want to give in to his demands, but I fear for the unknown. He’s gotten me so many job opportunities with numerous MPs.

“I am not a prostitute, I am just a human being, who also has genuine needs. Had it not been for my unfortunate history, I would have been happily committed to just one man.

“I’ve been to Churches and Prayer Cathedrals, to be prayed for, yet, men still die after having sex with me, and, it scares me Dave, everyday."

The Nigerian Army said it has arrested a major Boko Haram suspect "believed to have masterminded most of the recent attacks in Benue State."

Abomination: Mother films her 3-year-old twin boys having sex

Mother films 3-year-old twin boys having sex

Patience Isua said she filmed the abominable act of her twin boys to show to her husband as proof of her claim that the boys behaved strangely anytime they paid him a visit and returned to her.

Nigeria’s Ministry of Women’s Affairs in conjunction with the police have taken three-year-old twins boys from their mother’s custody after she filmed them having sex and sent the video to her husband.

A report by The Nation indicated that Patience Isua said she filmed the abominable act of her twin boys to show to her husband as proof of her claim that the boys behaved strangely anytime they paid him a visit and returned to her.

She was reported to have suspected the girlfriend of the children’s father with whom he has been co-habiting after he left her last year of being the one polluting the children.

On Tuesday officials of the Ministry of Women Affairs accompanied by the police stormed Patience Isua’s home in Olugbemiga Ladipo, Ado in Ajah, Lagos and took the children away.

When queried, the woman admitted to the offence, saying: “Yes, I took the video myself. He was not around when I sent it to him. My children stay with me and they stay with him as well. He comes to pick the children to wherever he is staying.

“We have been living apart since last year that he took me to a human rights organisation. It was agreed that he should have 12 hours with the kids at weekends but he did not stick to the agreement. Sometimes, he took them with him for many days and when they came back, they usually exhibited strange behaviours.

“I am aware that he lives with an older woman. So, he takes them there and whenever they are there, I get worried because I do not know what my children are going through in the hands of the woman.

“Somebody trained my boys to practice such devilish act. This is an abuse. I do not know who trained them to be like this. Before I saw them and videoed it, I had told their father that whenever they came back from his house they usually complained of pain.

“There were signs before it got to this stage. I don’t know where he takes them to and what they are fed. Most times they come back stooling blood or complaining of pains in their anus. I called his attention to it but he didn’t listen. This is what has been killing me silently.

“There was a day they went to school from his house and their auntie (teacher) called me to complain that my children were stooling blood. I told her to report to their father because they came to school from his house. Then I called him the following day to ask if their auntie complained to him and he said ‘yes’. When I asked what they ate, he hung up.

“Another time, one of my sons while pooing, said his anus was paining him. I took him out of the toilet and I saw fresh wounds. Again I called to find out where he usually took the kids, because I did not understand what was happening.

“I told him his children would come back from where he takes them to and they would sit on the chair and start saying mummy, daddy kiss.

“So, when I saw them that day, I had to video and send to him so that he would see the damage he was causing to our kids. He now turned the whole thing around and wants to blame me, whereas, I told him to stop taking my kids where he usually took them.

“I know they picked up the habit where he usually took them to, because in my house, they do not have access to television and they do not go out. I only take them to school and church. I live with my sister, who goes to work and comes back late. So, it is certainly not in my house that they saw such devilish act.”

“I also trained them. I told my kids to shout and tell their daddy should anyone try to touch their private parts. I told them to scream ‘Satan!’”

Meanwhile, the children’s father simply identified as Ikanta denied his wife’s claims.

He said: “I was really surprised when she sent me that video. I never imagined such a thing would happen. So, you took your time to video this without you shouting at them to stop and you said you wanted to send it to me?” he queried.

Before taking the children away, Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal who was part of the team that visited the house told both Patience Isua and her alienated husband that: “This is a very serious act and as a mother you see your children and your response was to video it? Now apart from you videoing this what other actions did you take? Who did you report to?

“It is not only the police that are concerned. You can see we have a Child Protection Unit from the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.

“People are concerned. You would agree with me that these children are supposed to be under strict parental care and guidance. From this video, you will agree that it doesn’t show good example of parental care.

“Having discussed it with experts and also officials from the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, we are of the opinion that there is need to find out more as to what is going on regarding the welfare of the children. As such, we are also of the opinion that we cannot entrust these children to your care for now, until we understand exactly what is going on.

“We would entrust the children to the ministry. That is why they are here. They have shelters that are approved by the government and these shelters are purposely built for purposes such as this to ensure that children are protected by the state when the need arises.

“There is going to be a joint investigation between the police gender unit and the ministry. We want to be sure that nobody is abusing these children. We want to know where they picked up this kind of elaborate homosexual act.

“Anyone who sees this would be worried especially because of the tenderness of the children. They are too young.

“We cannot entrust them to any of you. We intend to take this matter to a law court to determine the suitability of both of you for parenthood.”

Lesotho recently became the first African country to grant a marijuana license.

Now African countries Ghana, Malawi and Zimbabwe are making moves to legalize marijuana.

A minister in Zimbabwe, Obert Mpofu revealed that a Canadian government has been in talks with the government to produce marijuana in the country.

"This company is from Canada and it’s one of the biggest conglomerates in that country and they are producing cannabis for medical purposes under strict conditions," said Mpofu, the Minister of Investment Promotion.

In Ghana, a debate has been initiated by the acting head of the Ghana Standards Authority, Professor Alex Dodoo on the production of marijuana.

"I’m not advocating that we should promote marijuana but several countries are now promoting medical marijuana including Canada.

"They are creating greenhouses to grow it and we have them in the bush but currently, it’s illegal. But that argument; that discussion should start" said  Professor Alex Dodoo to Biz Africa Daily.

Dodoo further argues that his countrymen should see the cultivation of marijuana as a source of major revenue for the country.

Police arrest 100 cult members in Ikorodu

The Lagos State Police Command said it has arrested about 100 members of the dreaded Badoo Cult gang that has been terrorizing residents of the Ikorodu area in the past one year.

In a statement by the command spokesman, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, the raid on black spots in the area was coordinated by the Command in conjunction with Odua Peoples’ Congress [OPC], led by Chief Gani Adams, the Onyabo Vigilante group and other local vigilantes in the Ikorodu axis where the alleged suspects were arrested.

The operation which started in the early hours of Saturday, July 1, 2017, witnessed the movement of a combined team of police officers drawn from Lagos Command, Rapid Response Squad [RRS], and the Ikorodu Police Division led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Imohimi Edgal.

They were joined by some security support groups in Ikorodu in combing streets after streets arresting the suspects.

The team was said to have raided some identified black spots in areas like Ibeshe, Itamaga, Ijede, Ipakodo and other areas and arrested the suspects for questioning.

However, some residents of the Ikorodu area have questioned the police's action with some saying many of those arrested could not be the real Badoo members as they were picked at random during the raid.

A resident who did not want his name mentioned, told Pulse that the raid was just a front to convince the people that the police are working.

"The statement by the police that they have arrested Badoo members is a pure lie. Where did they comb? Which black spot did they raid? I live in Ikorodu, Ibeshe to be precise. They just came to the area and started arresting anyone in sight.

In Lagos: 500 youths in Ijede LGA renounce cultism - Chairman

The former cultists renouncing cultism

Salisu, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday in Lagos, said the development was made possible with the intervention of the council and other stakeholders.

Alhaji Fathiu Salisu, the Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area, Ikorodu, Lagos state, said no fewer than 500 youths in the area had renounced cultism and embraced peace.

Salisu, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday in Lagos, said the development was made possible with the intervention of the council and other stakeholders.

The chairman said the area used to be a battle ground for cultists who unleashed terror on one another as well as innocent residents.

Ijede used to be known for deadly cult activities with no fewer than two to three people killed on a weekly basis.

“But we thank God all now belonged to the past as residents are now enjoying peace.

“At our own level in the council, what we did was to set up a committee to look at the situation and see if we could bring the youths to embrace peace.

“We appointed people who could talk to them into the committee and they engaged the youths, leading to the renunciation of cultism by 500 of them.

“We also carried security agencies along in the process.

”The Commissioner of Police, Mr Edgal Imohinmi, was in fact here to witness the laying down of arms by cultists.

He noted that residents now had a new lease of life following end of cult activities in the area.

Salisu said cult killings were once so high that Ijede became notorious for cult activities at a time.

He expressed delight that the situation had since changed for peace with the intervention of the council, security agencies and other stakeholders.

The youths have been engaged in various vocational programmes facilitated by the council, we are now enjoying peace in Ijede.”

He said his administration had impacted positively on the lives of residents when he became chairman nine months ago.

Salisu said the council, recently, organised free medical outreach for the people during which now fewer than 500 residents benefitted from the programme.

He also said that the council had built six blocks of classrooms and fenced Anwarul Islam Primary School, Ijede.

J.Cole: Rapper makes you want to blame music for Lagos' drug crisis

What happens when you perform "(Codeine) Diet" before a rapper who preaches against drug abuse?

Performing one of your biggest verses or songs at one of the most anticipated shows of the year is a no-brainer, and one would expect that was the rationale behind Tiwa Savage’s decision. Yet when she performed her verse of the Slimcase-assisted posse cut, “Diet”, a song that glorifies codeine use behind a thin veil of shaku-shaku, at a concert where many had come primarily to see J-Cole, it was a representation of something far bigger.

On Friday, April 27, 2017, the rapper known as J.Cole performed in Nigeria for the first time ever for the launch of the lager brand, Castle Lite, barely a week after the release of his 5th solo studio album, “KOD”.

The details of Cole’s set will be talked about for a long time. As I type this, I wonder if I’ll get my voice back before he gets on his plane to New York.

But there are more important things for the purpose of this piece.

Prior to the release of the album, J.Cole had said the acronym stands for three things: “Kill Our Demons”, “King Overdosed” and “Kids on Drugs”.

The album’s subject matter itself seems to lean towards the former description, suggesting that Kids on Drugs is the most ideal of the definitions.

On songs like “Photograph”, “ATM” and “1985 (Intro to the Fall-Off)”, the rapper talks about addiction to drugs, social media, fame and wealth, with most of his verses directed at young people trying to make sense of a digital world.

The strength of a message

It is somewhat ironic, and slightly creepy, that the first time he would perform songs off the album was in Lagos, a city that is now itself dealing with a drug epidemic among younger people.

We know that music can have an influence on people, their habits and choices.  One would expect that Cole hoped that his album would reach the right ears and start a conversation about drug use and a more balanced life for young black people outside the pressures of modern society.

But what about a performance? How important is an artist’s maiden visit to a country? Is it possible that Cole’s performance, the stories in his album and the proximity of his album’s release to his visit to Nigeria could make a statement against drug use and possibly influence those who were lucky to be in the auditorium at Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday morning?

Well, for a start, Cole only performed 3 songs off KOD, the album’s title track, “Motiv8” and “Photograph”.

Each time he performed either of those songs, his apparent surprise at the fact that Nigerians “knew the lyrics” was the only subject worth discussing.

There was none of the self-righteous preaching that most of his non-fans berate him for. J-Cole did not say a single thing about drugs.

We’ll be left wondering if local media would have considered it worth reporting that an American rapper came to Lagos and talked about drug addiction in a hall where marijuana and codeine bottles were exchanging hands while he performed.

Kids on Drugs

On one hand, though, it may not matter that Cole didn’t admonish us like we hoped. The chorus of voices that sang the songs of the new "KOD" album proved that the album's themes might have been struck a chord with Nigerian listeners a long time before he climbed on stage.

For a rapper who lacks or ignores the camaraderie of peers like Drake, J.Cole’s fans love him for his storytelling and the real-life lessons he tries to convey in each song.

In K.O.D, what he's saying is clear. The truth is the section of the fans who know the music know its message and in a way, it has gotten as close to them as it probably ever will.

The rest depends on whether J.Cole's anti-drug campaign is strong enough to make an impact among listeners in Lagos.

The epidemic of drug abuse in this sunny city can be drawn to many reasons ( security, corruption), but the influence of pop culture cannot be discounted. As drug use is glorified in western media, eager young Nigerians have been moved to emulate their idols, and experience the euphoria that they speak of.

In a bid to react to trends and stay on top of what's relevant, Nigerian musicians have also been making music that glorifies drug use.

Songs like Olamide’s “Science Student” and DJ Enimoney’s “Diet” which Tiwa Savage performed are only two songs that seem to glorify or at least, desensitize drug abuse; taking a societal ill and reducing it to a catchphrase that will be repeated in earnest until everyone ignores what they are actually talking about.

Songs like the cuts of J.Cole’s album are not nearly as popular as the Olamide and Enimoney hits but they offer something that is desperately lacking; an opposing perspective and balance.

Not everytime codeine, sometimes sense

While many Nigerian musicians can offer these dissenting opinions ( and they do), the consensus is that music of that sort cannot blow in Nigeria.

The success of J.Cole’s set proved that Nigerians can love a musician who preaches against drug abuse as much as they would love one who does.

It offers hope that, in a city where yahoo boys are label patrons, musicians can be successful without glorifying indiscretions and societal ills.

By just being himself, being on that stage and performing songs that discourage popular ills and getting worshipped by the fans, J.Cole may not have convinced anyone to stop doing drugs, but he may have put pressure on local musicians like Tiwa Savage to hold themselves to a higher standard and understand their influence and what endorsing a practice can imply.

Solving the drug crisis is another of Nigeria’s problems that require long-term solutions, but using music to save the youth is a good place to start.
