Dana Motors, sole representative of Kia Motors in Nigeria has finally unveiled the award winning all new Kia sportage compact sport utility vehicle.
The new sportage which is the fourth generation, boasts remarkable improvement over the previous models, with array of modern features. Though its introduction into the Nigerian market was delayed, the compact SUV was worth waiting for by every standard well packaged, powerful engine exceptionally good looking and trendy.
Speaking at the unveiling, at Kia Victoria Island, Lagos Office, the company’s vice president, Business Development, Mr. Olu Tikolo noted that the new sportage has earned many accolade for its outstanding qualities.
According to him, Nigerians deserve the best product money can buy at a time like this.
Competitive business
“At a time like this, we put a lot into consideration knowing that we are in competitive business. We are bringing a car that is one of the best selling in its segment. Powerful with good design, economical, efficient and safe,”he said.
He noted that the new sportage is a huge improvement over it predecessor in terms of legroom, luxury, safety, ride quality and comfort.
Powered by 2.0 litre engine with six-speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive, Mr. Tikolo explained that the sportage has better suspension and whole lot of features with irresistible price in its class. “Power windows, keyless entry, multiple airbags, bluetooth, air-conditioning system, quality sound system does not come as options,”he noted.
In addition to this, he said that customers are entitled to five years or 100,000 kilometre warranty depending on which comes first.
Continuing, the vice president Business Development, added that Kia always has the interest of its customers at heart as it had added an utra modern service centre to the growing number of service centres across the country.
“Our new Kia centre at our new corporate head office, is working 24 hours and it is the best equipped in the country with well trained technicians and professionals.
In his remark, the Marketing Manager, Mr. Jimoh Olawale noted that the two variants of the Sportage, EX and LX would sell for N14.4 and 13.5 million respectively, adding that the current economic situation in Nigeria, particularly shortage of foreign exchange was responsible for the delayed introduction of the car.
We didn’t back out when the economic situation became extremely difficult because we believe in the market. Right now we are seeing a bit of recovery in the economy with the intervention of the Centre Bank of Nigeria. We are hopeful that things will change for better if the policies are sustained to meet demand,” he said.
Olawale was confident that the vehicle would appeal to young couples, the working class and medium income earners.
