GAC Group, owner of the Chinese auto maker, GAC Motor, has assured the Nigerian market of the manufacturer’s sincere commitment to offering high quality products and services to its customers.
President of GAC Group, Mr. Zeng Qinghong, made the pledge while addressing the first edition of the Nigeria-China Governors’ Investment Forum held recently in Guangzhou, China, with chief executives of some states in attendance.
He affirmed that the group would spare no efforts in building GAC Motor into the leading auto brand in China, and endeavouring to be a world-class brand with the strongest value and influence.
Delivering a speech with the title, GAC’s Global Planning with Sustainable Development as the Basis and the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative as the Driver, Zeng Qinghong briefed the guests on the achievements and core business divisions of the GAC Group.
The governors who were at the forum included: Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia; Alhaji Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari of Zamfara; Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa; Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and Dr Samuel Ortom of Benue; and Kashim Shettima of Borno.
The forum was organised four years after CIG Motors Co., Ltd introduced GAC Motor vehicles in Nigeria with the GAC Trumpchi GS5 SUV and GA3 sedan. Between 2013 and now, CIG Motors has not only worked towards establishing a strong presence in the market , but has also built an assembly facility in Lagos, in addition to widening the range with GS4 and GS8 top-class SUVs.
With the achievements in mind, the President of the GAC Group told the guests at the forum: “GAC Group’s private brand, GAC Motor has developed stable sales channels in Nigeria and achieved outstanding sales records. GAC Motor’s entry into the local market has brought consumers greater ride experience and higher quality of life.”
Beyond providing reliable automobiles and services in Nigeria through its representative, Zeng Qinghong stressed, GAC Motor has also brought management expertise and technologies, “thus increasing employment and enabling resource integration, technological innovation and sustainable development.”
He disclosed that more than 380,000 GAC Motor vehicles were sold last year, recording an increase of 96 percent, even as he explained that with a compound annual growth rate of 85 percent for six consecutive years, “it has achieved leapfrog development” . Interestingly, sales figure for the popular GS4 was up by 35.5 percent.
