Legal community, Okiro, Adeboye pour encomiums on retired S’Court jurist, Adekeye

By Onozure Dania

Senior members of the legal community have poured encomiums on retired Supreme Court jurist, Justice Olufunlola Adekeye describing his years on the bench as a beneficial period for both the bar and the bench.

Among those who spoke was Mr. Alex Izinyon, SAN, who identified consultation and dialogue as panacea for strains in relationship between the different arms of government.

Izinyon and others spoke at the public presentation of the book ‘Beyond Threshold of Justice: Life and Law of Hon. Justice Olufunlola Oyelola Adekeye’

The book, published by King’s Red Wool Multiservice Ltd, was in honour of Justice Adekeye, who retired from the Supreme Court in October 2012.

The event in Abuja had in attendance former governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili and his wife, Justice Mary, former Police boss, Mike Okiro, and Justices of the Supreme Court, lawyers, academicians, and politicians.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who was the Father of the day prayed for long life for Justice Adekeye and guests at the event.

Quoting erudite Professor Ben Nwabueze, Izinyon identified consultations and dialogue; keeping within the limits of power and within the constitution generally; a disposition not to abuse power while keeping within its limits; restraining the arrogance and intolerance of state power  as  requirements for fostering such a relationship as necessities for sustainable democracy.
