Efeturi declares for Delta LG polls

ASABA—AHEAD of the forthcoming local government elections in Delta State, Mr. Efeturi Onosorhue, yesterday, declared his intention to run for the chairmanship position of Udu Local Government Area of the state.

Making the declaration at Owhrode community, Onosorhue said that the interest of people of the council will come first if elected, assuring that the provision of social amenities, healthcare and quality education at the rural level will be given top priority by his administration.

He said: “If elected, it will not be business as usual where government is seen as an avenue for making money. In Nigeria, we forget to put the people first which is why we have not gone far.

“So many people who have been appointed into various positions have failed to extend a helping hand to those not appointed and that has set the council and our people backward.

“When I decided that I am going to run for this office, the first thing I did was to consult God because power comes from above and I know you will all give me your support.”

Commending Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the road construction and other infrastructural development in all parts of the state, he called for unity amongst the people to enable them also lay a foundation for the development of the council.

“In our own little way from our homes, communities and environment, we can start development and before you know it Udu is a better place,” he said.
