Enugu—THE family of late Beatus Chukwudi Ugwuanyi, who was allegedly killed by a Police Sergeant over N50 bribe has petitioned both the Police Service Commission and the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Idris Mohammed, calling for thorough investigations into the circumstances that led to his death.
Ugwuanyi, a commercial motorcycle (Okada) operator was allegedly murdered by a police Sergeant at Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State on June 3, 2017 at about 11am following a hot argument over the bribe money.
The police sergeant however, claimed that the late Okada rider who was carrying a pregnant woman at the time of the incident snatched his AK-47 riffle before he was killed by some members of a local security outfit, the neighbourhood watch in the area.
However, one of Beatus brothers, Stephen, asked the Police to find out how the sergeant, who was with a team of other policemen when he was killed, will seek the assistance of untrained members of the neighbourhood watch in tracking down culprits.
