Imo police move against vehicles with covered plates, tinted glass

Owerri—The Imo State police command, yesterday, said that from July 3, it would  begin arrest of unauthorized persons driving vehicles with covered number plates.

The warning was contained in a release to newsmen in Owerri by the  state Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr. Abdullahi Kurawa.

The warning also included those who are using “artificial tinted glasses, revolving lights/siren and unauthorized spy  number plates  to evade security vigilance.

He said: “The indiscriminate use of these vehicles has posed a serious challenge to the efforts of the Police command in combating crime and criminality in the state.

“It should be reiterated that the use of siren and pilot vehicles are for specific persons and purposes and not an all comers affair, hence unauthorized use should be stopped.

“The Imo State Police command, therefore, warns the general public that owners of such vehicles are by this press release given up till July 3, 2017 to dismantle/remove them after which the command will embark on massive arrest and prosecution of offenders.”
