LOKOJA—THE Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State has debunked report that the council owes its workers 15-month salary arrears.
The Administrator of the council, Joseph Okwoli, who spoke to newsmen at the council headquarters, said of the 1,150 staff strength of the council, including primary school teachers and pensioners, 959 who scaled through the just-concluded screening exercise in the state, had been paid their monthly salaries up till April.
Okwoli described the insinuations that the local government owed 15 months salaries as completely false, misinformation and a calculated attempt to blackmail the government.
He gave kudos to Governor Yahaya Bello for his uncommon courage in reconstructing Kogi State for good governance.
