YENAGOA— SUOYO Dickson, aka Hustler, the alleged mastermind of last month’s attack on an oil facility owned by Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC, at Lagosgbene in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
NSCDC state Commandant, Mr. Desmond Agu, yesterday, said that the suspect was arrested at Agbigiba community last Friday by men of the Anti-Vandal Crack team of the command, who had been on his trail after the attack on the Agip pipeline.
He said, “On May 30, 2017, vandals attacked an oil pipeline belonging to NAOC at Lagosgbene, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. The vandals fled the scene shortly after but our anti-vandal crack team was on their trail, combing the creeks and waterways for the fleeing suspects.
“Our search paid off and with information we gathered from members of the public, we located the hideout of the mastermind of this economic sabotage. The ringleader, one Suoyo Dickson aka Hustler, was arrested at Agbigiba community in Southern Ijaw. The suspect has confessed to the crime and is helping us with our investigations.”
Agu who vowed to prosecute the suspect added that some members of his gang had earlier been arrested by the command while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the rest of the members at large.
He warned other criminals to stay away from the nation critical national assets especially oil installations in their own interests.
