It was double celebration for the newly-elected Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, Alh. Abdulganiyu Kola Egunjobi as he turned 43 years old on the day of his swearing-in.
Egunjobi, was All Progressive Congress’ chairmanship candidate in Agege in Saturday’s Lagos State Council Election, He emerged victorious in the election, which date coincided with the birthday of his running-mate (now the vice-chairman), Prince Biodun Ogunji.
Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday swore-in the chairmen of the 57 chairmen of the 37 Local Council Development Areas and the 20 of the local government Areas. Among them is the birthday boy.
After his swearing-in, the new Agege chairman left Alausa and arrived to a warm welcome at Agege Local Government Secretariat where he was greeted with a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday”, “Chairman”, “Egun”.
“I am convinced that the diversity of our community is one of our greatest strengths. Arguably, Agege is the only local government in Nigeria that has high population of people of different Nigerian tribes, and nationals of West African countries cohabiting together.
“Our paths have crossed again. And i am excited to be here. My goal is to make Agege a better place, develop its infrastructure, improve the wellbeing of our people by empowering them. And put an end to youth restiveness. I want to work closely with you, and so am asking for your support,” Egunjobi, who was the Chief of Staff of former Executive Secretary of the council, Olufunmilayo Ade-Jumbo, during the latter’s regime told management and staff of the council in the frenzied atmosphere.
