The National Association of Nigerian Students’ (NANS), has applauded Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State for approving over Nine Hundred Million Naira (900 Million) for the payment of tuition fees and upkeep allowances of Sokoto State indigenes studying both in Nigeria and Diaspora.
This was contained in a statement yesterday issued by the National Senate President of NANS, Comrade Basheer Gorau.
The statement reads: “We thank His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for the approval of over 900 Million Naira for the tuition fees and upkeep allowances of the foreign and local students. The governor has fulfilled the promise made during the breakfast (Iftar) with the students on the last day of the holy Ramadan fast”
“Considering its monthly allocations, Sokoto is the best state in Nigeria in terms of student welfare. The state government has spent over 3.6 Billion Naira on scholarship since the inception of the present administration.
“We really appreciate and commended the laudable effort of Tambuwal and urges him to maintain the gesture.’’
