The President of Urhobo Progress Union worldwide, Olorogun Moses Taiga, has called for peace between Aladja, an Urhobo town in Udu Local Governmemnt Area and Ogbe-Ijoh, an Ijaw town in Warri South-West Local Government Area, both in Delta State.
Olorogun Taiga made the call following the tension generated by persisting rumours of an impending resumption of hostilities between the communities.
“These mindless killings must stop. The lives of our people are too precious to be wasted like cockroaches. Enough of bloodletting. The Urhobo and the Ijaw have lived peacefully together for centuries. All hands must be on deck to sustain this peaceful coexistence,” he said.
Olorogun Taiga also called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, to release the report of the panel of enquiry into the communal crisis, noting that the release and implementation of the report by government will help to end the crisis between the two communities.
