BAUCHI—As part of efforts to bring succour to the less-privileged in the state, Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State, yesterday, donated food items to the needy at Lusa and Boi villages in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government areas of the state.
Presenting the donation on behalf of the governor, a former member of the state House of Assembly (Bogoro council constituency), Rifkatu Samson, explained that items to be distributed include 150 bags of rice, 50 bags of maize, 500 bags of cement, 50 bundles of zinc, 10 drums of paints, mats and kettles for selected mosques in the two local governments.
The governor, who noted that orphans and widows were mostly vulnerable people in the society, said the gesture was aimed at making them enjoy the Sallah celebration like all other citizens, so they could have a sense of belonging.
The governor has also donated 50 pieces of plastic chairs, drums and cash to some churches in the areas.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman, Council of Ulama of Bogoro council, Rabiu Halilu, thanked the governor for the gesture, assuring that the items would be shared fairly among the beneficiaries.
In his remarks, Chairman, Christian Asso-ciation of Nigeria, CAN, Bogoro chapter, Reverend Zakka Gata, expressed appreciation to the governor for the donation.
