The president of National Association of Itsekiri Graduates (NAIG), Mr Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema has commented the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, for intervening through various instrumentality of government to avert the continuous looting of Itsekiri funds in the coffers of the Itsekiri Regional Development Council, IRDC by some Itsekiri cabals.
Edema made this known while addressing newsmen yesterday in Warri.
According to Edema if not for the timely intervention of the Inspector-General of Police, ‘ we would have lost a whooping sum of N2.1 billion lodged in 7 different accounts with Keystone Bank Ltd’.
in his words, “Imagine what this amount could achieved in the desired infrastructural and human capital transformation of our neglected towns and villages”.
“We are therefore express our unalloyed and robust gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for literary “foiling this coup” against the soul and destiny of all Itsekiri. We are particularly disturbed as to the blatant act of wickedness exhibited by those who hold trust for this otherwise well- intentioned economic Council on behalf of Iwereland”.
“We just cannot explain the reasons regarding this attitude of our kinsmen in wanting to pocket funds meant for the total transformation of our territory. The purpose of the Itsekiri Regional Development Council, IRDC as initiated by Chevron and sundry multinational companies carrying out oil exploration activities in our land was fundamentally to channel equity royalties and various funds accruing to Itsekiri nation toward developing our areas”.
” Whereas others are deploying their funds in massive infrastructural and human capital development, those on whom we conferred the assignment have cornered our collective wealth”.
“This present effort by the Inspector-General of Police is both a salutary one as well as a signal to a new paradigm of responsibility, vigilance and involvement by all. With this singular effort by this Police officer, we have a ray of hope and remain emboldened to declare that the party is over for the neo-colonialists, and that it is no longer business as usual”.
“we also wish to pre -inform all Itsekiri sons and daughters of the Itsekiri Economic Summit, initiated by the National Association of Itsekiri Graduates (NAIG), in collaboration with notable Itsekiri professionals and foreign partners coming up soon in a date that will be communicated via the media”.
