Job creation: Nigerian entrepreneurs partner Silicon Valley for opportunities

By Soni Daniel

Abuja—Worried by the state of the Nigerian economy, some U.S-based Nigerian entrepreneurs are collaborating with technology giants at Silicon Valley to develop strategies for improving the economy through technology application.

The overall aim is to help create jobs for Nigerians and boost the economy.

As a first step to attract tech-based economic opportunities from key technology investors from the California-based Silicon Valley giants, the Nigerian business executives are partnering with top U.S technology entrepreneurs to host a week-long business event between   September 24 and 30, 2017, at Silicon Valley to expose Nigerians to possible areas of investments that can boost Nigeria’s economy.

The event, according to one of the U.S-based Nigerian facilitators, Mrs. Amina   Temitope Ajayi, is being spearheaded by the SV – Links, in conjunction with the Nigeria Economic Development and the Nigerian Embassy in Washington D.C.

According to Ajayi, who is Nigerian business consultant, social entrepreneur and community activist, the one-week event is designed primarily to facilitate the creation of business opportunities designed for Silicon Valley technology companies to bring their businesses into Nigeria.

“SV-NED Inc. is committed to creating economic growth that would take Nigeria from a developing country to an emerging market and reduce dependency on oil explorations and increase profitability in the technology sector and increase the feasibility of employing recent college graduates.

“The US-based SV-NED Inc.’s vision for Nigeria is to facilitate programmes that will improve Nigeria’s credibility with foreign investor partners globally starting with Silicon Valley business hubs.”
