Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has finally revealed those that brought President Muhammadu Buhari to power.

Obasanjo had on Friday said he and four other eminent Nigerians brought Buhari to power.

He said the five of them decided to back Buhari against former President Goodluck Jonathan when they felt that the country stood at a crossroads.

Obasanjo noted that the five of them decided to support Buhari in the election in order to salvage the country from further woes.

Obasanjo said, “Three or four other of us from different part of the country got together and said to ourselves what do we do

“We said what is the problem with us and why are we still not growing. We got talking and knew we needed to do something.

The former President, however, failed to name the four other eminent Nigerians.

But on Tuesday, Obasanjo finally revealed all those behind Buhari's success at the 2015 presidential election.

He said no individual or group including himself can lay claim to bringing President Buhari to power.

He said the emergence of Buhari as President was an overwhelming decision of Nigerians as demonstrated at the polls.

The former President, who stated this in Jalingo when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Darius Ishaku, said Nigerians overwhelmingly voted for Buhari and as such nobody could claim to have brought him to power.

“I was astounded by media reports quoting me to have said that I and a few other persons brought President Buhari to power to save Nigeria. I never said that because it is not true. Nigerians voted overwhelmingly for the president and we are all witnesses to that fact. No single person or group can claim that glory,” he said.

Christians should unite against moves to Islamise Nigeria says Atilade

Archbishop Magnus Atilade, South West President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN,  has urged Christians to unite against plans to ensure Christianity was eradicated in Nigeria and Islam accepted as an official religion.

Archbishop Atilade, who spoke at the Work F.O.R.C.E Africa 2016 conference, titled ‘New Frontiers, New Partnerships in the Era of Change’, in Lagos, called on Christian organisations to form a synergy to map out strategies on how they could overcome the threat on Christianity.

He said: “As we are seeing in the whole world now, no single church, denomination or organistion, can save the world. We have work to do and we need to be united to achieve a common goal. Individual organisations working alone have not been able to make an impact.

‘’Those who want to eradicate Christianity are very busy, those who are killing Christians and destroying churches in the north are very busy, they are coming up with different plans everyday and we as Christians cannot fold our arms and watch them destroying the church of Jesus Christ.

‘’There must be a way that we are going to react but if we react in a disorganised way, we won’t get the desired goal.”

Insisting that it was wrong to impose one religion on the others, Atilade added: “We are in a very dire situation. I believe and I tell you here that anybody, whoever the person is, that tells you that there is no plan to islamise Nigeria is not saying the truth.”

‘’I believe there is a plan and they are working hard to see how this country accepts Islam as the official religion.

‘’I’m saying this just to reawaken all of us.
