Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole album release date news: Collaboration still a possibility; Dreamville president offers update

Rumors about a Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole album collaboration still persist as the days go by, but none of them could tell exactly if the upcoming project would really come out.

Ibrahim Hamad, the president of Dreamville Records, Cole's entertainment company, said that the founder actually has some big plans in mind and is still waiting for it to come to fruition. Despite its nonexistent status, Hamad believed that it will someday be rolled out and will be worth the wait. Could this include the long rumored Lamar x Cole studio album? Here's what the Dreamville executive has to say during a Rap Radar Podcast:

"Cole is Cole and he knows what he's doing. He has his ways of getting things done and I think that at the end of it all, it'll be way worth it. Whatever he had planned in February, whatever it is, it'll be way more worth it if people just like...know that he, he's kinda like a mad scientist with his thing. He's like a little mad scientist."

Both artists are currently tied to several commitments, which could be one of the reasons why the project still remains at a floating stage.

Lamar, on his part, wowed the crowd with his performance at the FYF Fest in his own town, Compton, last weekend, the LA Times said.

Meanwhile, Cole is gearing for the 21-night Washington State Fair concert series, which is slated to commence on Friday, Sept. 2, a separate report from The Bitbag said.

Cole assured MTV that the collaboration project will indeed happen, but as to when they intend to announce it is a thing that needs to be found out.

"It's coming. We already got too many songs. Even if you just get an EP, you gonna get something, but we got sh-- that we holding in the stash," he said, in an interview.
