Woman bags 1-yr jail term for bathing neighbour with pepper

A resident of Benin, Edo State has bagged herself 1 year jail term for beating and bathing her neighbour with pepper.


A 34-year-old woman, Patience Reveth, will spend one year in prison for beating her neighbour, Helen Tunde, with cane and bathing her with pepper.

An Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin presided over by MrsRacheaI Ogbevoen, convicted Reveth on Wednesday after finding him guilty but gave her an option of N25,000 as fine.

Prosecutor Patrick Agbonifo had told the court that offence was committed on Nov. , 2014 at first East Circular Road in Benin.

Agbonifo said the convict assaulted Tunde of the same address by beating her with a cane and bathing her with pepper which caused her bruises on her hand and neck.

He said the offence contravened Section 355 of Criminal Code.
