CYFI 2016 begins entrepreneurship training of 10 unemployed youths in Makoko Lagos

THE Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative (CYFI) a programme by the US consulate Nigeria has consistently impacted on the economy of Nigeria and the development of Nigerian youths over the years.

The programme brought together the brightest leadership- inclined young Nigerians for training, mentorship and execution of developmental projects in Nigeria in the following areas: Economic Empowerment, Education, Health, Good Governance and Civil Liberties.

The Economic Empowerment team on Saturday, January 21, 2017 commenced the second phase of Project Empowered; the training of ten unemployed Makoko youths on modern fish processing with eco-friendly ovens, fish packaging and the application of social media marketing and corporate business models in marketing and growing their business by seasoned and successful young Nigerian business men and speakers.

On successful completion of the four week training exercise, each of the ten participants at a closing ceremony were awarded with eco-friendly ovens and seed capital to kick start their fish processing business in Makoko (A fishing community), Lagos State.

The economic team of CYFI 2016 comprises four very resourceful and progressive young Nigerian Leaders: Kate Ekanem; a writer and an award winning Girl’s Rights Activist and the founder of the Kate Tales Foundation.

Best Ayemere Okoduwa; is a high performing and result driven professional writer, film maker, Social worker and Convener of Bad Brilliance Initiative.

Adetosoye Adebanjo is a goal oriented, self-motivated Public Health expert, while

David Bamidele is the founder and CEO of Bamsay Farms, a firm that specializes in crop production, animal husbandry and agro processing.
