The resuscitation process of the moribund Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja is in top gear, as electricity power has been restored to the plant. The new investors, Premium Steel and Mines Limited (PSML), are working round the clock to ensure the plant is restored to production level.
Speaking on the development, recently, PSML General Manager, Engr German Victor, disclosed that after weeks of serious interactions with relevant government agencies and PHCN at the national level, DSC which lost its connection with the national grid over unpaid rights to power distribution companies for over five years, secured a relief as power is restored to power its activities.
An elated Engr German noted that with the feat achieved within weeks of commencement of the resuscitation process, there were assurances that the plant will soon come alive to the delight of stakeholders as power supply is a critical component in the program.
He called on the Federal Government and the host Udu community to continue to support Premium Steel and Mines Limited in its bid to reposition the company to production level. He said the local economy will be boosted when qualified staff are mopped up from the labour market to help trigger the desired economic re-awakening in Udu, Delta State and Nigeria, generally.
