I Have Confidence In My Manchester City Goalkeepers – Guardiola

Pep Guardiola said he decides on his goalkeeper each weekend after bringing Claudio Bravo back for Manchester City’s victory over Hull City.Bravo had been replaced by Willy Caballero for 10 league and Champions League games after being beaten by every one of six shots on target in a defeat at Everton and a draw with Tottenham Hotspur in January. The Chile international has struggled since his £17 million summer move from Barcelona and has not kept a clean sheet in the Premier League since the turn of the year.Guardiola said he was not guaranteed to keep his place for Saturday’s trip to Southampton, telling a news conference: “Every weekend I will decide who is in goal.“The last week I decided for Claudio, and Saturday I am going to decide. It depends if the opponent makes a lot of high pressing or not.“In the training session we involve both so we are going to see. I like to have both involved and I have confidence in both of them. We will see.”Bravo’s arrival in the summer prompted the departure of England international on Joe Hart on a season-long loan to Torino.Although reports have claimed the Serie A side want him for another year, Guardiola said: “I said before, at the end of the season we are going to speak about the players who are under contract next year, the loan players.“Of course we follow all the players who are on loan and of course we are following Joe every weekend.”Guardiola would not comment on City’s reported interest in Alexis Sanchez after ESPN FC reported the Arsenal forward was a leading target.“It is not time to talk about that, about the hypothetical players who are coming here next season,” he added. “We have a lot of business to do.”Guardiola sent his best wishes to Borussia Dortmund defender Marc Bartra, injured in the attack on the team bus ahead of the Champions League tie with Monaco. The coach gave Barta his debut at Barcelona and said: “It’s a bit scary how the world is. It’s going a bit crazy. We have to keep living without fear, but these things can happen.“I hope Marc has a fantastic recovery. In terms of what happened, it was scary and it was serious, but he lived to tell the tale.“But we’re in a world where we don’t know where we’ll end up. I don’t know where we’re heading.”Guardiola also said Vincent Kompany will have a role at the club next season and confirmed the defender was in contention to face Southampton.
