Monarch tasks Christian leaders on evangelism

By Bose Adelaja

Worried by the low turnout of fun seekers at the just concluded 2017 Easter picnic organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Igbogbo/Bayeku area of Ikorodu in Lagos, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali has charged the leadership of CAN to be alive in their responsibilities by spreading the gospel of Christ to all the nook and crannies of the land.

At the picnic organized by zones 1 and 2 of the body at the Igbogbo Stadium, the monarch who was the Royal Father of the Day, expressed concern at the turnout of people, especially youths and admonished CAN leaders and members to seek ways to groom evangelists who will do more evangelism.

The monarch noted that the Church has a crucial role to play in transforming the youths.

‘’The youth of these days have been occupied with deviant traits like cultism, thuggery and hooliganism, rather than being useful to themselves and the society. The Church has a role to play in transforming the youths. I expected to see many youths at this kind of gathering but was surprised at the less population of youths which should have been an avenue to rebuild the  youths.’’

According to him, the youths should be engaged in religious programmes, saying: “If the youths are engaged in Godly programmes, the society will be free from crime and the nation will grow better. As far as I am concerned, my regime will not tolerate atrocities instead I will strive to make it free from criminal activities.”

Earlier in his sermon, the guest minister for the occasion, Rt. Rev. Tohi Moses of United African Methodist National Church Cathedral, Igbogbo urged people to seek the face of God irrespect-ive of their tribe or creed.

According to him, Christians have a lot to learn from the death, crucifixion and resurrection of Christ which promote unity.

He said: “If you have seen Him, you should show love to man-kind, promote unity in the community, church society, country and promote peace in all ramifications.’’

Rt. Rev. Benjamin Whenayon Mofunlewi of United African Methodist Church Cathedral UAMC, Sagamu Circuit, Ogun State led the congregation in a prayer session while Prophet David Adeniyi of Christ Galilee Gospel Ministry, Igbogbo promised to put the Royal Father’s admonition to good use.
