By Monsuru Olowoopejo

The former Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Religious Matters, Alh. Abdul-Hakeem Kosoko, has said Quran and Hadith have the antidote to end corrupt practices in the country.

Meanwhile Justice Ishola Olorunnimbe (retd), has urged Nigerians not to wither from supporting President Muhammadu Buhari to achieve his purpose in office.

They spoke at the lecture organized by Shooting Stars of Islam (SSI), to mark its 75th anniversary, themed ‘Corruption and the impact on the Muslim Ummah, in Lagos State.

While delivering his lecture, Kosoko lamented that some leaders in the country were involve in unlawful accumulation of wealth, depriving others from obtaining their fair share in the society.

He said: “The only way out of our present predicament (corrupt practices), is for us to go back to the bases, which are, the Quran and Hadith (sunnah); from these, we will understand that unlawful accumulation of wealth will take one nowhere.”

The Cleric argued that Nigerians would desist from corrupt practices when they understand they will account for whatever they earn on earth to their Creator, saying, we will do the right thing. On the ongoing anti-graft war, the former special adviser urged the government to be steady in the fight, noting, all arms of government must key into the fight.

According to him, I want everyone to be up and doing especially our leaders should be good example for their followers. This is because the children need to learn something good from the leaders. We need to change for good.

Earlier the president of the society, Alh Nosrudeen Kekere-Ekun, stressed the need to enlighten children to desist from any unlawful act.

His words, “We understand that it may take time before the adults inculcate fairness. But if we begin to inculcate good morals in our children at this time, we would be addressing corruption.”
