Varsities registrars tasked on ICT

By Demola Akinyemi

ILORIN—Chairman of the Committee of Registrars of Nigerian Universities, CORNU, Mr. Emmanuel Obafemi, has urged members to be open to new ideas in this age of globalisation and advancement in information and commu-nication technology, ICT, if they want to remain relevant on their jobs.

Obafemi, who is the Registrar of University of Ilorin, made the call yesterday during his welcome address at the second edition of the annual registry lecture of the university.

He noted that “any administrator who wants to remain relevant in his job must embrace change. There is no longer a place to hide as the society is continually on the drive to excellence and only the administrators who are open and receptive to new ideas will come out triumphant and unscathed.”

He said the objective of the lecture was to serve as a forum for exchange of ideas on current trends in the administration of higher education institutions.
