ADP set to take over S/South in 2019, 2020— Owie

BY SIMON EBEGBULEM

THE leadership of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the South-South met in Benin-City, on Friday, declaring its readiness to take over Edo State and other states in the region currently under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come 2019.

The meeting had in attendance some aggrieved leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State.

In his welcome address, the leader of the party in the South South, Senator Rowland Owie, said the PDP and the ruling APC had failed Nigerians, adding that the ADP was coming up with programmes that would wipe away the tears of Nigerians.

“ADP is the party for both young and the old. Our women are well represented also and that is why we urge our members to ensure that their interim executives from the unit to the state level have a minimum of ten women and ten youth representatives,” Owie said.

“ ADP is a party for the people and open to all well-meaning Nigerians. Our selection process shall be by direct primaries. No more political impunity and we are set by the grace of God to take power from the APC in 2019.

“It is sad that the APC has not learnt anything from what happened to the PDP and it is a shame. We will provide that leadership that will take over the entire South-South because we know the game better”.

Those in attendance at the meeting include General Idada Ikponmwen, member of ADP Founding Council, and Chairman ADP Legal Committee; Senator Birabi, from Rivers State; Chief Tony Azuya, Delta State; Hon. Declan Ogar, National Treasurer; Dr. Chris Nzekwu a member of NEC; Chief Iboro Ige-Edaba, National Vice Chairman, South South, and all state Chairmen of the party from the zone.
