ABAKALIKI — EBONYI State House of Assembly, yesterday, threatened to issue warrant of arrest on the former Commissioner for Finance in the state, Mr Timothy Odaa, if he failed to appear before the House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts next Tuesday over his alleged involvement in the financial recklessness and embezzlement in the last administration.
Odaa was the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development during Martin Elechi administration.
Odaa, who was the chairman, Forum of Commissioners of Finance in the country during the administration in the state was alleged to have boycotted series of summons by the state House of Assembly.
The directive to summon him was issued by Speaker of the Assembly, Chief Francis Nwifuru, during plenary at the state House of Assembly complex, Abakaliki.
The order from the Speaker was prompted by the report of the House chairman on Public Account, Chief Onu Nwonye, who was among the joint committee constituted by the House to audit the financial report of the state government for the year ending December 31, 2014.
According to Nwonye, the former Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, ignored several invitations from the joint committee to clarify certain crucial financial issues contained in the report of the House.
