YENAGOA—A 31-year-old engineering graduate of the University of Benin, UNIBEN, Edo State, Samuel Collins, was reportedly killed by suspected cultists, weekend, at the Kpansia suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The incident, it was gathered, occurred about 9.30p.m. around the INEC/Kpanisa area of Melford Okilo Road.
He was said to have been accosted by his assailants at the usually busy INEC Road junction, while returning from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he was undergoing a training programme for the public holiday.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen may have been on the trail of their victim, who was shot at close range. The hoodlums reportedly disappeared from the scene immediately they confirmed their victim was dead.
Some friends of the deceased described him as an easy-going and brilliant young man, adding that he was home from Port Harcourt for the Ramadan holiday.
The body has been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Yenagoa by the Police.
Contacted, the state’s Police Command spokesman, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident, adding that the Police have begun a manhunt for the killers.
