PORT HARCOURT— Hundreds of Peoples Democratic  Party, PDP,  members have decamped to All Progressives Congress,  APC, at an empowerment programme in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Dr Sokonte Davies, said that the APC was the party to beat, stressing that its programmes would address the challenges in the state.

Davies,  who represented Degema/Bonny constituency in the House of Representatives, said he was impressed by the number of decampees,  adding that they would enjoy equal treatment with old members of the party.

Chairman of the APC in the council, Kesibo Gogo-Abite, hailed the decampees, saying that they made the right decision to dump their old party.

He enjoined them to work for the growth of the party.

Mr Obubeleye Waribo and Madam Trust Davies, who spoke for the decampees said they crossed over to the APC because of the leadership style of the party, adding that it allows everyone to be active player in the system.

Deep freezers, bags of rice, phones, grinding machines were among items given out at the programme.
