Jubilation as Ekweremadu commissions Agbaogugu water projects

ENUGU- IT was a day of joy for Agbaogugu communities, last week, when the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, commissioned four water projects in Agbaogugu communities in Awgu local government area of Enugu State. The community’s joy was more given the previous impression that bore hole water could not be sunk in the area, given the topography of the place.

But that impression was proved incorrect when the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Works, Rep Toby Okechukwu, attracted the water projects and they were successfully concluded.

Performing the commissioning ceremoney, Ekweremadu said that lawmakers are at liberty to attract pressing projects to their constituencies. He said that though the core mandate of legislators is to make laws for the nation, it is also the duty of the legislators to see that amenities lacking in their constituencies are made available to them.

Ekweremadu stressed that the job of a lawmaker is not only to make laws but also to lobby and attract projects to his constituency. He said that the inauguration of the project is an indication of a working partnership between the electorates and and their representatives, noting as a youngman he started his early days of public service teaching at St Vincent College Agbaogugu.

Ekweremadu extolled Okechukwu’s quality representation and urged the benefiting communities to safeguard the amenities for judicious uses.

The House of representative member, Okechukwu who represents Awgu/Aninri/Oji River Federal constituency in Enugu State said he was moved to pursue   the bore hole projects to Agbaogugu community following complaints of water scarcity in the community.

He described Senator Ekweremdu as a pathfinder whose exceptional representation has brought joy and infrastructural development to his people. Okechukwu hinted that another water project which he also attracted to Oji River local government community will soon be commissioned and urged the Agbaogugu community to make good use of the facilities.

Members of the community who troopped enmasse for the commissioning ceremony extolled the virtues of Ekweremadu and Okechukwu as visionary leaders who understand the needs of their people.
