Following a 6.7 magnitude earthquake in the Aegean Sea, that caused 25 people to be receiving treatments in Turkey, the authorities on Friday warned citizens in the affected area of the country to be on alert.
“We advise (citizens) to be vigilant at all times,” the director of the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute in Turke, Haluk Özener said.
Some 200 Turkish citizens were being evacuated from Greek islands.
Some people were sleeping in the open overnight in Bodrum, a tourist hotspot, and nearby areas in western Turkey, afraid of aftershocks. Flooding was also reported.
Hurriyet also quoted the Turkish consulate in Rhodes as confirming that a Turkish citizen was among the two killed in Greece during the quake.
