ASABA—President-General of Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union, AUIUI, Chief John Gbenedion, yesterday, said there was no crisis in Agbarho Kingdom as being speculated in a section of the media.
Gbenedion, who stated this in an interview with newsmen at Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, explained that the said media report was false, adding that he was not at loggerheads with the ‘Osuvie’ (monarch) of the kingdom.
He noted that the Osuvie is a respected monarch and a father of all Agbarho indigenes, saying the only bone of contention is the union’s insistence that due process be followed before its executive could be dissolved.
Gbenedion also refuted the allegation that General Ufuoma Obada (retd) was backing the union against the Osuvie, noting: “General Obada is national leader who has tried to intervene in the impasse.”
Also speaking, Chief Mathias Itigha assured residents of Agbarho to go about their lawful businesses, saying: “The community is peaceful, there is no cause for alarm.”
Itigha urged those fuelling crisis in the community to stop forthwith and enjoined media men to always cross check their information before publication.
