EQUIPMENT valued at N113 million for a medical mission aimed at treating 300 Nigerians in Ogun State, was recently donated by Rotary International District 3020 India in partnership with the Rotary International District 910 Nigeria.
The medical mission would provide free medical surgery, medication, as well as training for Nigerian doctors.
Already, a 7- man team of Indian medical doctors is in the country for the 8-day exercise, that kicked off June 8, 2017 at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Shagamu Annexe Remo, Ogun State, where around 300 were being treated for various ailments.
On the team is the Team Leader, Rotn Dr Warahalu Basava, a Past District 3020 India Governor (1995-1996), Plastic Surgeon Dr Dhanvan Thar Nadu and a Dental Surgeon, Dr Palakol Sanjay of Rotary Club of Palakol, India.
They are expected to provide free plastic surgeries, on Cleft Lip, Contra General Surgeries on hernia, hemorrhoids, limb deformities, etc.
At the flag off, the Commissioner for Health, Ogun State, Dr Tunde Ipaye, reiterated the need for regular medical checkup as an antidote against instalmental death.
Speaking, Rotary International District 3020 India, Rotn Dr Warahalu Basava, expressed his team’s gratitude and called for more membership drive to positively join Rotary International as government alone cannot not shoulder the heinous responsibilities to adequately provide for all.
The Project Coordinator, Rotn Dr. Olufemi Akodu gave glowing tribute to the District 3020.
