By Emmanuel Elebeke  & Favour Ulebor

Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and National Leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Tinubu, and other eminent Nigerians, yesterday in Abuja, paid glowing tributes to the late journalist, playwright and scholar, Dr. Adinoyi-Ojo Onukaba, at a night of tributes and inauguration of Dr. Onukaba Adinoyi-Ojo Endowment Fund organised by Atiku.

Others included former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha; Modibo Kawu, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Professor Tunde Adeniran, Garba Shehu, Euginia Abu, Dr. Hide Hong, Segun Adeniyi and Mohammed Abba Gana.

According to Atiku, late Ojo was “an irreplaceable asset to Nigeria, who always stood on the side of truth no matter the pressure. He never trafficked in eyeservice.

“He was a very loyal and trusted aide and friend. And when that loyalty was tested in the second term of the administration in which we served, Ojo courageously stood by me his then boss.”

In a special tribute to Ojo, entitled Never in the Past Tense, Tinubu lamented the early demise of Ojo, saying that the media had lost one of its best and brightest brains.

He said the community of creative writers had also been robbed of one of its leading dramatists, while the rank of progressives had been depleted.

Other speakers at the occasion called for urgent repair of all major roads across the country to stop unnecessary loss of lives.
